13.You can't always predict a heavy rain or remember your umbrella.But designer Mikhail Belyaev doesn't think that forgetting to check the weather forecast before heading out should result in you getting wet.That's why he created Lampbrella,a lamp post with its own rain-sensing umbrella.
The designer says he came up with the idea after watching people get wet on streets in Russia."Once,I was driving on a central Saint Petersburg street and saw the street lamps lighting up,people trying to hide from the rain.I thought it would be appropriate to have a canopy (傘篷) built into a street lamp,"he said.
The Lampbrella is a standard-looking street lamp fitted with an umbrella canopy.It has a built-in electric motor which can open or close the umbrella on demand.Sensors (傳感器) then ensure that the umbrella offers pedestrians shelter whenever it starts raining.
In addition to the rain sensor,there's also a 360° motion sensor on the fiberglass street lamp which detects whether anyone is using the Lampbrella.After three minutes of not being used the canopy is closed.
According to the designer,the Lampbrella would move at a relatively low speed,so as not to cause harm to the pedestrians.Besides,it would be grounded to protect from possible lightning strike.Each Lampbrella would offer enough shelter for several people.Being installed (安裝) at 2meters off the ground,it would only be a danger for the tallest of pedestrians.
While there are no plans to take the Lampbrella into production,Belyaev says he recently introduced his creation to one Moscow Department, and insists his creation could be installed on any street where a lot of people walk but there are no canopies to provide shelter.
51.For what purpose did Belyaev create the LampbrellaA?

The designer says he came up with the idea after watching people get wet on streets in Russia"可以看出這個發(fā)明的目的是為了防止人們淋雨,故選A.
52.B 推理判斷題.第二段中的"Once,I was driving on a central Saint Petersburg street and saw the street lamps lighting up,people trying to hide from the rain.I thought it would be appropriate to have a canopy (傘篷) built into a street lamp,"是作者的親身經(jīng)歷,由此產(chǎn)生了這個創(chuàng)意,故選B.
53.C 排序題,根據(jù)第三段的"It has a built-in electric motor which can open or close the umbrella on demand.Sensors (傳感器) then ensure that the umbrella offers pedestrians shelter whenever it starts raining."傘棚的打開或關(guān)閉是先由傳感器(Sensors )來接受然后motor來操控,故選C.
54.C 主旨大意題.根據(jù)第五段中的"so as not to cause harm to the pedestrians"和"protect from possible lightning strike"可知此發(fā)明體現(xiàn)了其安全性.故選C.
56.B 推理判斷題.根據(jù)最后一段中的"and insists his creation could be installed on any street where a lot of people walk but there are no canopies to provide shelter."可以推理設(shè)計者對它的創(chuàng)意很有信心.故選B.

15.In the latest romance-drama,Descendants of the Sun (《太陽的后裔》),a handsome soldier Yoo Shi-jin(柳時鎮(zhèn)) (Song Joong-ki)(宋仲基) meets the pretty doctor Kang Mo-yeon(姜暮煙) (Song Hye-kyo)(宋慧喬) in a hospital,and he doesn't hesitate to hit on her.
The dialogue,which takes place early in the first episode,immediately indicates that this is no ordinary South Korean drama.There's no family feud,or secret crush,or love tangles,or guesses and misunderstandings.The 16-episode show is set in the fictional war-torn country of Uruk(烏魯克).Song Joong-ki is the leader of a special warfare command unit,while Song Hye-kyo plays a doctor who works for a humanitarian medical organization.Both are sent in the midst of disaster and disease as part of their work with UN peacekeeping troops.Both know and show clearly what they want and what they hate.
But what stands out the most are Song's skills as a pick-up artist(撩妹技能).
Boldness and creativity are the key weapons in his arsenal.When Kang invites Yoo to drink wine with her,Yoo,who is not allowed to drink alcohol as a soldier,says,"There is a way"before kissing her.Forget about the"eighth-episode rule".This kiss happens in the fourth.
Humor also does the trick.On their first date in a cinema,Yoo says,"This is the most exciting moment of my life.The moment I am with a beautiful woman before the theater lights go out."When Kang tries to give Yoo a hard time,Yoo jokes,"I mistook you for a beautiful woman because it's dark."
And actor Song Joong-ki,who just came back from two years of military service last May,makes sure he delivers his pick-up lines just right.
"In Deep Rooted Tree (《樹大根深》) and The Innocent Man (《善良的男人》),he[Song Joong-ki]showed he had the steel to play fearless and heartless men-that he could be taken seriously as an actor,despite his pretty face.In Descendants,he hits the emotional core of every scene,whether he has to be bold and amorous,guarded and mysterious,or sad,"said critic Foong Woei Wan in The Straits Times.

C.a(chǎn)ctor           D.doctor-patient
33.Why say that the Descendants of the Sun is no ordinary South Korean drama?B

B.It broke the previous Korean old story.
C.It exits family feud and love tangles.
D.The pick-up artist is unique and special.
34.When the Descendants of the Sun tells us that heterosexual(異性) contacts is important to have some quality includingD.

8.Pacing and Pausing
Sara tried to befriend her old friend Steve's new wife, but Betty never seemed to have anything to say. While Sara felt Betty didn't hold up her end of the conversation,Betty complained to Steve that Sara never gave her a chance to talk. The problem had to do with expectations about pacing and pausing.
Conversation is a turn-taking game. When our habits are similar, there's no problem. But if our habits are different, you may start to talk before I'm finished or fail to take your turn when I'm finished. That's what was happening with Betty and Sara.
It may not be coincidental that Betty, who expected relatively longer pauses between turns,is British, and Sara, who expected relatively shorter pauses,is American.Betty often felt interrupted by Sara. But Betty herself became an interrupter and found herself doing most of the talking when she met a visitor from Finland. And Sara had a hard time cutting in on some speaker s from Latin America or Israel.
The general phenomenon, then,is that the small conversation techniques, like pacing and pausing, lead people to draw conclusions not about conversational style but about personality and abilities. These habitual differences are often the basis for dangerous stereotyping (思維定式).And these social phenomena can have very personal consequences. For example,a woman from the southwestern part of the US went to live in an eastern city to take up a job in personnel. When the Personnel Department got together for meetings, she kept searching for the right time to break in--and never found it.Although back home she was considered outgoing and confident,in Washington she was viewed as shy and retiring. When she was evaluated at the end of the year, she was told to take a training course because of her inability to speak up.
That's why slight differences in conversational style--tiny little things like microseconds of pause-can have a great effect on one's life. The result in this case was a judgment of psychological problems---even in the mind of the woman herself, who really wondered what was wrong with her and registered for assertiveness training.

64.What did Sara think of Betty when talking with her?C
A.Betty was talkative.
B.Betty was an interrupter.
C.Betty did not take her turn.
D.Betty paid no attention to Sara.
65.According to the passage, who are likely to expect the shortest pauses between turns?B
A.Americans.
B.Israelis.
C.The British.
D.The Finns.
66.We ca n learn from the passage thatC
A.communication breakdown results from short pauses and fast pacing
B.women are unfavorably stereotyped in eastern cities of the US
C.one's inability to speak up is culturally determined sometimes
D.one should receive training to build up one's confidence
67.The underlined word"assertiveness"in the last paragraph probably meansD
A.being willing to speak one's mind
B.being able to increase one's power
C.being ready to make one's own judgment
D.being quick to express one's ideas confidently.

18.A.Get started!
B. Forget your failures.
C. Find and use your positive voice.
D. Think about how far you have come.
E. Spend time with people who inspire you.
F. Accept failure as a positive learning experience.
Realizing your dreams is not a matter of possibility; it's a matter of motivating yourself to focus on the right things. You know you should be doing something,but sometimes you just don't feel like doing anything. This discouraging situation can last a long time if you don't head it off and take action. Here are some daily motivation tricks that might work for you.

61.This is by far the most important tip in this article,because in the end,all of the other tips in the world won't make as much of a difference as this simple and timeless instruction:Sit down and get a move on!Do you feel the push-back of laziness?Reading more about motivation won't help. Reviewing your to-do lists won't help. Only doing actually helps get everything going. So stop thinking about how hard the task is going to be or how long it's going to take you. Not starting is failing. Tell yourself,"As soon as I get going,I'll feel more motivated."And you'll realize it's not nearly as hard as you thought it would be.A
62.Be aware of your self-talk and stay confident.You have the choice to replace negative self-talk with a more encouraging and friendly voice. A voice that will consider your aim as not just a possibility,but a probability; A voice that does not look at the possibility of success before taking action,but rather uses self-belief as its driving force; A voice that all things arc possible to those who commit to their dream.
Tell yourself over and over again that you can do it. See what effect it has. Persist with this kind of possibility and eventually you'll feel better about whatever it is you want to get done,and you'll even start to fool yourself into believing it's true.C
63.There is no better way to recharge yourself for improvement than spending time with someone who motivates you.They are smart and can always encourage you to be better.Study their qualities.Study their habits.Surround yourself with them,talk to them,learn from them; they are already living and producing results at a level you admire and expect to.Compare stories,successes and failures.Let their inner light guide you.E
64.You have made so much progress,you just don't realize it.Open your eyes and give yourself credit for all that you have done.Think about it.Write down your past successes.Consider using a journal to keep track of them.You'll probably be pleasantly surprised when you review your results.It's a great motivator to see how much you have improved and how far you have come.Be happy with your progress and move on.D
65.Do not judge unsuccessful attempts and mistakes as an indication of your future potential,but as part of the growth process.Something does not have to end well for it to have been one of the most valuable experiences of a lifetime.When times get tough,take a deep breath,and know that most great things come when you least expect it.Being defeated is a temporary condition; giving up is what makes it permanent.And most people that gave up didn't realize how close they were to success.Push through!F.

5.I was born under the Blue Ridge, and under that side which is blue in the evening light,in a wild land of game and forest and rushing waters. There,on the borders of a creek that runs into the Yadkin River,in a cabin that was chinked with red mud,I came into the world a subject of King George the Third,in that part of his realm known as the province of North Carolina.
The cabin smelt very strongly of corn-pone and bacon, and the odor of pelts. It had two shakedowns(臨時床鋪),on one of which I slept under a bearskin.A rough stone chimney was raised outside, and the fireplace was as long as my father was tall. There was a crane in it,and a bake kettle; and over it great buckhorns held my father's rifle when it was not in use.On other horns hung jerked bear's meat and venison hams, and gourds for drinking cups, and bags of seed, and my father's best hunting shirt; also,in a neglected corner, several articles of woman's clothing. These once belonged to my mother.Among them was a gown of silk,of a fine, faded pattern, which I always wondered. The women at the Cross-Roads,twelve miles away, were dressed in coarse butternut wool and huge sunbonnets. But when I questioned my father on these matters he would give me no answers.
My father was-how shall I say what he was?To this day I can only surmise many things of him.He was a Scotchman born, and I know now that he had a slight Scotch accent. At the time of which I write,my early childhood,he was a frontiersman and hunter.I can see him now, with his hunting shirt and leggins (綁腿) and moccasins(莫卡辛鞋); his powder horn, engraved with wondrous scenes; his bullet pouch and tomahawk and hunting knife. He was a tall, lean man with a strange, sad face. And he talked little except when he drank too many"horns,"as they were called in that country. These little bad behaviors of my father's were a permanent source of wonder to me-and,I must say,of delight. They occurred only when a passing traveler who hit his fancy chanced that way,or,what was almost as rare,a neighbor. Many a winter night I have lain awake under the skins, listening to a flow of language that held me spellbound, though I understood scarce a word of it.P.F.Productions
"Virtuous(有德行的) and vicious(罪惡的) every man must be,
