Having a happier life is something we all always struggle for. One of the key foundations of that is to be consistent in doing things that bring happiness. 1.
Consider these 4 habits:
1. Laugh in the middle of a busy day.
It’s 3 pm on a Sunday afternoon and you’re desperate to leave for school. On top of the homework, you’re running close to super important deadline. 2. Just take a moment to laugh. You should laugh more often, especially on a busy day.
2. Do not compare yourself to others.
Measure your own successes based on your progress and only yours. 3. No one is better than any one else.
3. Find time to work out regularly and eat well.
Exercise can produce tons of feel-good hormones(荷爾蒙). 4. Feeding your body with whole and nutritious foods, on the other hand, can positively affect your body in both short and long term. Find time to schedule in a workout even if it’s only thirty minutes and do something you love. Eat well because foods can help you stay focused and more energized, and happier as a whole.
4. End each day with gratitude.
5. It might be something as small as a child’s laugh or something as huge as a praise from the headmaster. Whatever it is, be grateful for that day because it will never come again.
A. All of our lives are unique.
B. Surround you with people who matter.
C. Don’t blame everything not going your way.
D. Try to think you are better than anyone else.
E. Develop right habits to ensure we live a happy life.
F. These hormones can help avoid stress and depression.
G. Just before you go to bed, write down at least one wonderful thing that happened.

Change is everything in the case of mobile phones. Recent research indicates that the mobile phone is changing not only our culture, but our very bodies as well.
First, let’s talk about culture. The difference between the mobile phone and the fixed-line phone, is that a mobile number corresponds to a person, while a fixed-line phone goes to a place. If you call my mobile, you get me. If you call my fixed-line phone, you get whoever answers it.
This has several implications(含義). The most common one, however, and perhaps the thing that has changed our culture forever, is the “meeting” influence. People no longer need to make firm plans about when and where to meet. Twenty years ago, a Friday night would need to be arranged in advance. You needed enough time to allow everyone to get from their place of work to the first meeting place. Now, however, a night out can be arranged on the run. It is no longer “see you there at 8”, but “text me around 8 and we’ll see where we all are.”
Texting changes people as well. In their paper, “Insights into the Social and Psychological Effects of SMS (Short Message Service) Text Messaging”, two British researchers distinguished between two types of mobile phone users: the “talkers” and the “texters”-those who prefer voice to text messages and those who prefer text to voice.
They found that the mobile phone’s individuality and privacy gave texters the ability to express a whole new outer personality. Texters were likely to report that their family would be surprised if they were to read their texts. This suggests that texting allowed texters to present a self-image that differed from the one familiar to those who knew them well.
Another scientist wrote of the changes that mobiles have brought to body language. There are two kinds that people use while speaking on the phone. There is the “speakeasy”: the head is held high, in a self-confident way, chatting away. And there is the “spacemaker”: these people focus on themselves and keep out other people.
Who can blame them? Phone meetings get cancelled or reformed and camera-phones intrude(侵入)on people’s privacy. So, it is understandable if your mobile makes you nervous. But perhaps you needn’t worry so much. After all, it is good to talk.
1.The “meeting” influence of a mobile phone refers to the fact that ________.
A. people are able to meet someone at any place and any time
B. people have to make a firm plan about when and where to meet
C. people can arrange their meeting place and time more flexibly
D. people have to attend more phone meetings than ever before
2.We can infer from Paragraph 5 that the texts sent by texters probably are ________.
A. showing popular images to others
B. showing new images to others
C. showing the same images to others
D. showing familiar images to others
3.According to the passage, who is afraid of being heard while talking on the mobile?
A. talkers B. the “spacemaker”
C. the “speakeasy” D. texters
4.Which of the following can be the best title of the passage?
A. The Influence of Short Message Service B. Changes in the Use of the Mobile
C. Changes Caused by Mobile Phone Use D. Body Language and the Mobile Phone

Tourism wasn’t as important as it is today. In the past, only people with a good deal of money could travel on holidays to other countries. More people travel today than in the past because there is a growing middle class in many parts of the world; that is to say, people now have more money for travel. Special plane fares for tourists make travel less expensive and more attractive than ever before. One person doesn’t travel for the same reason as another. But most people enjoy seeing countries that are different from their own. They also like to meet new people and to taste new food.
Tourism causes many changes in a country and in people’s lives. People build new hotels and restaurants and train native men and women as guides to show visitors interesting places. There’re new nightclubs and other amusements. International tourism is clearly a big business.

America is growing older. Fifty years ago, only 4 out of every 100 people in the United States were 65 or older. Today, 10 out of every 100 Americans are over 65. The aging of the population will affect American society in many ways — education, medicine, and business. Quietly, the graying(老齡化)of America has made us a very different society — one in which people have a quite different idea of what kind of behavior is suitable at various ages.
A person’s age no longer tells you anything about his / her social position, marriage or health. There’s no longer a particular year in which one goes to school or goes to work or gets married or starts a family. The social clock that kept us on time and told us when to go to school, get a job, or stop working isn’t as strong as it used to be. It doesn’t surprise us to hear of a 29-year-old university president or a 35-year-old grandmother, or a 70-year-old man who has become a father for the first time. Public ideas are changing.
Many people say, "I am much younger than my mother-or my father- was at my age." No one says "Act your age" anymore. We’ve stopped looking with surprise at older people who act in youthful ways.
1.It can be learned from the text that the aging of the population in America ______.
A.has made people feel younger
B.has changed people’s social position
C.has changed people’s understanding of age
D.has slowed down the country’s social development
2.The underlined word ‘one’ refers to _______.
A.a(chǎn) society B.America C.a(chǎn) place D.population
3."Act your age" means people should _______.
A.be active when they are old
B.do the right thing at the right age
C.show respect to their parents young or old
D.take more physical exercises suitable to their age
4. If a 25-year-old man become general manager of a big firm, the writer of the text would most probably consider it _______.
A.normal B.wonderful
C.unbelievable D.unreasonable
