【題目】閱讀短文,根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容回答問題。

They say that "seeing is believing", but when it comes to TV advertisements, this is not always the case.

The world's leading mobile phone maker, Apple, published its latest model Iphone XS on September 13th. The smart phone was supposed to own an advanced camera, which lets customers shoot better pictures at night and record stabilized(穩(wěn)定的)videos. To show how well these features work, the company published an ad showing a man and a woman riding bicycles side by side, with the man taking a video of the woman on the phone. However, several hours later, technology website The Verge uncovered that the video was neither shot with the new product, nor shot from someone riding a bicycle. Instead, someone in a lorry next to the woman took the video using a professional video camera.

The next day Apple apologized, "In an effort to show the benefits of visual image stabilization, we produced a video that looks like what we will be able to deliver." Indeed, what we have seen in ads is more or less a simulationa practice called "advertising photography".

McDonald's video in June explained the "art". It showed how its burgers get dolled up (裝扮)before going on camera. Like models preparing for a magazine cover shoot, burgers also get designed in a photography studio. They are prepared for hours and put together very carefully so they look their best before photo shoots. Each ingredient, such as onions and sauce, is carefully put into place to make the burger look much juicier, bigger and tastier. Computer software photoshop is also used to add visual effects.

So don't feel surprised when you get a burger that never looks like what you see in ads.

In 2014, the world paused to remember a cultural giant on April 17. Nobel Prize winning writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez died on that day at the age of 87.

Garcia Marquez was born in Colombia (哥倫比亞), but lived in Mexico for more than 30 years. He is one of the 20th century’s most famous writers. He is best known for his novel, One Hundred Years of Solitude (《百年孤獨》). It tells the story of a family over several generations. The story is a metaphor (暗喻) for the development of Colombia since the 19th century. The novel has sold about 50 million copies.

He wrote in a style called “magical realism (魔幻現(xiàn)實主義)” This style blends (融合) fantasy and reality. In such works, people live regular lives during a certain period of time in history. But meanwhile, magical things happen to them.

In Garcia Marquez’s works, a child is born with a pig’s tail, and a couple finds an old man with big wings in their courtyard. He said he was inspired by childhood stories told by his grandmother. She believed that everything was possible. She often told him stories about ghosts in their house.

But his works are quite serious. He wrote during a period when much of Latin America was suffering from a civil war. Everyday life in Colombia was filled with chaos (混亂). That’s why magical realism works well.

As mobile phones grow in popularity, telephone booths have become fewer in German cities. But a new project in Berlin is hoping to turn them into shelters for another endangered technology — books.

Konrad Kutt of the Institute for Sustainability in Education, Employment and Culture decided to start the BücherboXX project to improve reading in Berlin. They filled telephone booths that are about to be thrown away with books and put benches outside for people to sit down and take a reading break. “It teaches people about reusing in details, about sustainability (持續(xù)性) and also about improving learning,” said Kutt. These public bookshelves are in the streets of many cities across Germany. These libraries are supported by donations and taken care of by local volunteer groups. Each shelf holds around 200 books. It takes about six weeks to replace the old books with new ones.

Each of Berlin’s three current reading booths has been colorfully painted by students who are also responsible for building the benches and bookshelves inside the booths. The telephone booths themselves were bought from telephone companies that set to just throw them away.

Some community members keep an eye on the booths to prevent destroying and make sure they are often cleaned. In these libraries, people can read whatever they want to read. Local people who visit the booths are encouraged to leave one of their own books when they take a book with them. There are no sign-out sheets or rules for visitors to follow, like at a library because the BücherboXX system relies on trust and the community’s good will.

One woman named Petra Rücker, a 45-year-old social worker, stopped by to take a look at the books. “I come by here on the way to work but never have stopped by until now,” Rücker said. “It looks interesting.” This time, she left without a book. “But I will certainly be back here,” she said.

They knew I had a speech problem. I stuttered(口吃).

For me a simple sentence was going to take longer than it should.“ Hello, how are you doing?” can take you 3 seconds(秒), while it would take me 10 seconds. And the man just asked me if I wanted to stand in front of strangers and speak about computer technology.

In my first class I got the familiar(熟悉的)funny looks from people when I started speaking. But after 15 minutes, people were asking smart questions that showed they understood. At the end of the class when people were leaving, they shook my hand and thanked me.

You won’t get THAT from a “ not exactly challenging but safe job”!
