Mineral Oil

  The world needs large amount of mineral oil because it is a very useful fuel. Many different kinds of oil are always in use; aircraft need finer oil than cars or trains.

  Engineers in many countries drill the ground for oil. A lot of it comes from Saui Abrabia, Iraq and so on. The oil is taken away in big tankers. Some of the latest tankers are ships of 2000,000 tons. They are bigger than the Queen Mary and the Queen Elizabeth.

  The mineral oil in the ground is petroleum.Very often there is gas with it,and both are under pressure.The oil cannot escape because rock or clay holds it down;but it can escape when the drill makes a hole. Then the oil sometimes rushes up the hole and rises high into the air above the ground.

  The natural gas itself is very useful. In some countries it flows through pipes to different cities. There it is useful for heating houses and other buildings. Lately some natural gas has been found under the sea near England and the Netherlands. It will be useful for heating buildings in those cold countries.

When I came in, my classmates said “Happy Birthday” to me. The light of the candles made the classroom bright. One of them said, “Don’t be discouraged! Try again. We are all your friends and we will help you.” What warm-hearted words! Hearing that, I was deeply moved by their kindness. Tears come to my eyes. I thought they had given me the best present. I was proud of having so many friends. I made up my mind to work harder and make greater progress than before.
