plan計劃;advice建議;excuse借口;example例子;根據(jù)“Last time Steve had said it was because his dad needed help in the garden”上次史蒂夫說是因為他爸爸在花園里需要幫忙,所以此處是借口,故選C。

had有;made使;saw看見;bought帶來;根據(jù)make it表示“成功了”。結(jié)合“You made it, and you are on time, too”你成功了,所以此處是made,故選B。

enjoyed享受;guessed猜測;known知道;missed丟失;根據(jù)“ he didn't have time to get popcorn or a drink”沒有時間買爆米花或飲料,所以此處是錯過,故選D。

helping幫助;driving駕駛;understanding理解;waiting等待;根據(jù)“That's what friends for”這就是什么是朋友。

plan計劃;advice建議;excuse借口;example例子;根據(jù)“Last time Steve had said it was because his dad needed help in the garden”上次史蒂夫說是因為他爸爸在花園里需要幫忙,所以此處是借口,故選C。

Mr. and Mrs. Miller lived with a pet dog, Rita. They started a sailing trip with Rita last November. On the seventh day of the trip, Mr. and Mrs. Miller were having a wonderful time when a storm(暴風雨) suddenly came. While the Millers were trying hard to keep the boat out of danger, they forgot about Rita. A moment later, they found Rita was lost. The couple were worried if she had died in the water. “Because it was a cloudy day, we just couldn’t find her even though we searched carefully for over an hour,” Mrs. Miller told BBC News. “We thought that if she fell into the water, she would be gone because of the big waves.”

Mr. and Mrs. Miller kept sad on their way home because they lost their favorite pet. But four months later, they received some surprising news — Rita had been found on an island. After falling off the boat, she had swam five miles to the island. And she lived by eating small animals there.

The people on the island first thought that she was a wild dog because she did not let people come close to her. However, when Mr. and Mrs. Miller came to pick her up, Rita knew who they were at once. “After I called her name, she jumped up and almost knocked me down,” Mrs. Miller said.

Rita’s terrible experience was finally over. She is all right at home now, relaxing by the pool. But Mrs. Miller is still not sure what her dog went through.

Rita was just a common house dog. She swam over five miles and lived successfully on her own.

1When did Mr. and Mrs. Miller start a sailing trip?

2What happened on the trip?

3Where was Rita found at last?

4How did Rita live during the four months?

5Did Rita remember the Millers when they came to pick her up?

It was just three degrees above zero. "That's cold," thought Jane as she got ready to deliver her morning papers. Jane had 50 customers, and on cold mornings when she couldn't ride her bicycle, it took her more than an hour to make her rounds. As she collected her papers and put them into a big canvas bag, Jane regretted that she hadn't finished her math homework the night before. There was still time. She'd hurry with the papers and finish the math before breakfast.
Less than an hour later, Jane was nearly finished. She had only five customers to go. She could then head for home to complete her math while her room fixed breakfast. As she rounded the corner, she saw a car in the middle of the street. It was Mr. Zimmerman, the elder man, who walked with a walking stick. His car was out of gas. "I'd like to help Mr. Zimmerman," thought Jane, "but if I do, I won't have time to do my homework." She hated to think what Mr. Roberts would say if she hadn't completed her papers.
"It's his own fault for running out of gas," Jane talked to herself. "The station is only a half mile down the street. Surely Mr. Zimmerman can walk that far, even on a cold morning like this — can't he?" As she walked down the street, Jane wondered what to do.
