As space science develops, man has learned more and more about space. Space is not only amazing but also dangerous. While working in space, spacemen are facing danger as well as success.
Scientists have found out that the radiation(輻射) is the greatest danger to spacemen in space. When spacemen are working in space, they are in danger of the radiation from the sun and other stars, which is bad for their health. The harm of the radiation won’t be found until their children even grandchildren are born. Some special medicine may work a little, but no really effective medicine has been found so far.
Space rubbish is also thought to be a great danger to spacemen. It’s reported that there were 9,000 man-made things flying in space. About 30% of these are satellites, 10% are spaceships, and the rest are space rubbish. An explosion(爆炸)in space in 1999 made a cloud of 300,000 fragments, each at least 4mm in size. A small piece of these even knocked a spaceship window and caused some damage(損壞).
Scientists are watching and reporting any possible danger all the time. They are working to deal with space rubbish. Although space is really dangerous, it interests many people on the earth. In the near future, it may become possible for people to spend a few days in a space hotel. We may even choose to leave the earth and live in space in a few years. So we should do something to help improve the space environment.

It was 12:45 pm on January 2, 2007. 50-year-old Wesley Autrey was waiting for the train at a subway station in New York. His two daughters, aged four and six, were with him.
Suddenly, a sick man fell down on the platform (站臺). The man, 20-year-old Cameron Hollopeter, got up, but then fell again—this time, onto the track between the two rails (道軌). A train was coming into the station. It was a frightening moment.
But Mr Autrey wasn’t frightened. He looked at the man and the space that the man was in. It was about half a meter deep. And he thought, “The train is going to travel over this man. On June 6th, 2012 Tiangong-1 welcomed its first guests, the Shenzhou Ⅸ manned spacecraft(載人飛船). The Shenzhou Ⅸ has two male astronauts and one female astronaut. At that time, Liu Yang, a thirty-three year-old woman, became the first Chinese woman in space.
Joining the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force in 1997, Liu Yang became an experienced pilot after flying safely for 1,680 hours. In 2010, she became an astronaut because of her good job.
“When I was a pilot, I flew in the sky. Now that I am an astronaut, I will fly in space. This will be a much higher and farther flight. I always couldn’t help wondering: What would the Earth look like from outer space?” Liu said.
In June 2012, Liu took Shenzhou Ⅸ to the space as China’s first female astronaut. “I have full confidence,” Liu said before the task. “There are many foreign female astronauts that have been into space. Men and women have their own advantages in carrying out space tasks. They can encourage each other and better complete their task.
However, the difficulty of her training has not affected her life’s pleasure. “I love children and I love life. I love reading, especially novels and history books. I am also a great cook. To be with my family is one kind of happiness, but to fly is another kind that people can’t experience.”

Have you ever seen people building houses? To build a house , you need workers. They use their hands , tools(工具) and machines to put things together. Building the ISS(國際太空站) is the same. The difference is that the workers are astronauts. They walk in space and use robots’ arms and hands to do their work.
In the space station ,astronauts are comfortable. The temperature there is about 21℃.But outside the station , it can be too hot or cold for people. In the sunlight, it’s about 120℃. In the shadow(陰暗處)of the station, it’s about -85℃ . So when astronauts walk in space , they have to wear heavy clothes----spacesuits.
Spacesuits also keep astronauts safe from flying rubbish(垃圾)in space. Each time people go into space , they leave rubbish there. So astronauts should be careful because there’s a lot of rubbish, some rubbish goes many times as fast as a plane !
Space walking is not easy , and it can be dangerous. So getting ready for it takes a lot of time to learn. Astronauts will need to do 160 space walks to finish their work in the ISS. That will take about 1,900man-hour of work.
1.What’s the temperature in the space station?
A. 21℃ B120℃ C. -85℃ D.-21℃
