題目列表(包括答案和解析)

Opened in 1971, the Magic Kingdom was the first theme park at Walt Disney World. All Disney World theme parks are open 365 days a year, although opening and closing times for each park are different from day to day. If  you are traveling without kids, try to visit it on a school day to avoid the largest crowds. If you need to visit it during a school vacation, try at least to avoid the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day and the Fourth of July.

If you are not staying at a Disney World hotel, avoid visiting the Magic Kingdom on its Extra Magic Hours days. The hotel guests get into the park early on those days, increasing the waiting time for visitors who arrive at the normal opening time.

Buy your Walt Disney World tickets online at Disney World’s website. There will be some advice on picking the right ticket. See the guide to Disney World tickets. You will also need to call in advance to make lunch or dinner reservations (預(yù)訂). Disney accepts reservations, through 1-407-WDW-DINE, up to 180 days in advance. Time does pass quickly, so you should call six months before your trip to get a lunch reservation in the castle. We suggest you should have your lunch at Cinderella’s Royal Table for your tour. If you can’t get the reservation, ask for the Liberty Tree Tavern instead.

Keep in mind that to reach the Magic Kingdom, you must park at Disney World’s Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) parking lot, take a tram (有軌電車), and then take a boat across the Seven Seas Lagoon to the Magic Kingdom.

MONEY – SAVING TIPS FOR DISNEY WORLD

Every time you visit Disney World, there’s something new to see. What began in 1971 as the Magic Kingdom now includes the high – tech, movie-mad Disney and Animal Kingdom . Each time the park expands(擴大), so do your chances to spend money. How can you save ? As a family guide to Disney World, I've been to the park more than 25 times with my kids , and I've developed a few money-saving tips for you.

●Buy the Five-Day All-in-One Hopper Pass. Even if you're visiting for fewer days , it's a deal (The pass costs $ 229 for visitors aged 10 and up , $ 183 for kids aged three to nine and is free for kids under age three). Without the pass , you'll have to pay separately for Pleasure Island and the water parks . A single trip to Blizzard Beach , for example , would cost a family of four $100.

  ● Dine out at Lunchtime. The prices at some of the nicer restaurants , especially those in Epcot's World Showcase , are much lower at noontime than at any other time. It's wise to make reservations(預(yù)定)before you leave home . Call 407-W-DISNEY .

 ● Become a Gold Card Member.  For $ 65 , you can get a Magic Kingdom Club Gold Card (call 1-800-56-DISNEY). Cardholders get up to 20% off Disney hotel rooms , plus prices on character breakfast , theme park tickets and goods from Disney stores .

If your budget (預(yù)算) is tight, try to meet the characters inside the theme parks and at free in-park shows . You can watch the Diamond Horseshoe show , for example , in the Magic Kingdom for no additional cost , while the similarly themed Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue needs expensive tickets .

 ● Wait Until the End of Your Trip to Buy Souvenirs.  By then , the kids will really know what they want , and you won't waste money on expensive things .

With petroleum reserve(石油儲量)decreasing, the search is on to replace gas with a cleaner, greener alternative. Though much eco-talk has centered on biofuels from corn and soybeans, the biofuel that looks more likely to replace petroleum comes from a most unlikely source: algae(藻類).
Algae, like corn, soybeans, and other crops, grow via photosynthesis(光合作用)and can be processed into fuel oil. However, they yield 30 times more energy than land crops such as soybeans, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. Many algae species also can grow in saltwater and polluted water—while corn and soy require arable(適于耕種的) land and fresh water that will be in short supply as the world’s population balloons.
“If you replaced all the diesel(柴油)in the U.S. with soy biodiesel, it would take half the land mass of the U.S. to grow those soybeans,” says Matt Caspari, chief executive of Aurora Biofuels, a Berkeley, Calif-based private firm that specializes in algae oil technology. On the other hand, the Energy Department says that if algae fuel replaced all the petroleum fuel in the United States, it would require only l5, 000 square miles, which is a few thousand miles larger than Maryland (12,407 squaree miles), the 42nd state in land area.
Another advantages: Because algae can be grown just about anywhere in a closed space, they’re being tested at several power plants across the nation as a carbon absorber. Smokestack emissions(煙囪排放物)can be pumped directly into the ponds, feeding the algae while keeping greenhouse gases out of the atmosphere.
Although processing technology for algae fuel—also known as “oilgae” in some environmentalist circles —is improving, it’s still years away from reaching your local gas pump. “It’s just a question of cost, because no large-scale facilities have been built yet,” Caspari says.
