People often eat food to feel better. Recently, researchers have found that eating chocolate or drinking water can reduce pain, and reduce a rat’s response to heat.
The study was done by Professor Mason and Professor Foo at the University of Chicago. It is the first to show that this powerful painkilling effect occurs while the animals are ingesting(吸收) food.
In the experiments, rats were given either a chocolate chip to eat or had sugar water or common water flowed directly into their mouths. As the rat ate the chocolate or fluid, a light under the cage was turned on. It was done to provide heat that usually caused the animal to lift its foot off the floor. The researchers found that rats were much slower to raise their feet while eating or drinking, compared to tests done while they were not eating.
Surprisingly, the researchers found no difference in the delayed foot-lift response when the rat was eating chocolate and when it was drinking water. Former research showed that only sugary things reduce people’s response to pain.
“This really shows it has nothing to do with calories,”P(pán)rofessor Mason said.“Water has no calories, but it has the same effect as chocolate chip. It’s really shocking.”
The researchers believe that this effect is also present in humans. The painkilling effect can be turned to our advantage. For example, water perhaps can take the place of candy which is often used to calm children—or even adults—in the doctor’s office.“Eating is a painkiller, but we don’t need the sugar,”P(pán)rofessor Mason said.“So replace the doctor’s candy with a drink of water.”

Hello, everyone! What is the true definition(定義) of Healthy Living? It sounds silly that we need to define Healthy Living. After all, we know what “Health” is and we also know what “Living” is. So today, let’s start by discussing what “Health” is.
Interestingly enough, health is not simply defined as just living without disease. The Spiritual You need inner calmness, openness to your creativity, and trust in your inner knowing. For some it needs having a relationship with a higher power.

LONDON—England will join the growing list of places that don’t allow smoking in public buildings, taxis and other places that includes even Buckingham Palace with a strong law.
Pubs, clubs and restaurants will all be smoke-free places. Taxi drivers have been warned that they could be fined(罰款) 50 pounds, or about $100, if they are caught lighting up inside work taxis.
Experts say the bans have become unchangeable because of increasing health costs and public worry over second-hand smoke. Some of the strictest smoking bans are in some of the United States’ states, such as New York and Florida, which include bars and restaurants as smoke-free places.
Spain, Italy, Iran, Norway, Sweden, Singapore, South Africa, Uruguay and New Zealand have made laws to limit smoking. France banned smoking in many public places in February and cafes and restaurants will become non-smoking places next year. Finland will introduce a ban, too.
Bans are spreading among countries, and the World Health Organization supports them, but it said that by 2030 there will be“at least another two billion smokers in the world”and an expected decrease in male smokers“will be offset(抵消) by an increase in female smoking rates, especially in developing countries.”
In advance of the English ban, anti-smoking ads have coated bus stops and the government prepares to pay some money to help people give up smoking. The rest of Britain—Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland—already have smoking bans ready.

Music will not earn an income unless it is well marketed. No matter how good you are at songwriting, composing music, playing instruments and everything on the creative side of music, you will never earn money without marketing it to your customers.
Let’s look at the steps in marketing and apply(應(yīng)用) it to the online business world to make an effective marketing plan for your music.
Find out customer’s need
Before you can discover, you need to make it clear who your customers are, by answering the following questions:
First, what industry do your customers belong to? For example, if you are a music producer, your customers will most likely be recording companies.
Second, what field are you in? Music is broad; you need to specialize. Are you a rock songwriter, a pop producer or a jazz musician?
You then need to judge your customer’s need by examining those things already commonly accepted in the marketplace: the lyrics and melodies that are popular.
In this stage, you should examine your competitors by visiting their websites to learn from them. What is done by your competitors in the marketplace(where your business belongs) is most likely to meet your customer’s need.
Predict customer’s need
What you have to predict are the things that even your competitors may not have realized. These can be discovered by doing a survey or interviewing your customers. For example, you need to ask them directly,“What things are you looking for in a music publisher? When you are searching for music online, what would be the best presentation of music material to make you interested?”
Now that you have known what your customers expect from your music, you need to write your music with the goal of meeting their expectations. This time your marketing efforts will most likely pay off.
70.We can learn from the first paragraph that .
A.musicians usually have little income
B.music won’t be popular if it is too creative
C.to earn money musicians have to give up the creative side of music
D.it is not enough to only have good music if musicians want to earn money
71.To find out customer’s need, you have to .
A.interview a music producer
B.join a recording company
C.decide the kind of music you will make
D.listen to popular songs in all fields
72.What is the best title to be put in the blank?

Dear Daddy,
You’ve been gone for six years and I’ve had time to think. Now I’m ready to write this letter to you.
For a long time after Mom died, I thought I liked her more because I didn’t like your attitude and I thought that her softer side was more desirable. Later, I realized that no one could make someone stop drinking. Support is important, but at the end of the day, it is a choice. You were just doing your best.
What I have learned is that I am much like you. You taught me self-confidence. I know if I am prepared to work hard enough for something, I will be successful. This is no small thing. What I’ve realized since you died is that you were always there for me. You fought to ensure that I got my place on the Quebec badminton team that I had earned. When I got divorced (離婚), you came up to see if I had what I needed to take are of the boys and you paid off my car.
You taught me not to spend money I don’t have. I’ve always kept to that rule. It has served me well. We always had a good home to live in, nice vacations, and everything we needed and most of what we wanted.
You were not a perfect parent and neither am I. My children are much more thankful than I ever was. I am thankful that I had you as my dad. I am still Daddy’s girl and I am proud of it.
