【題目】Directions: Complete the following passage by using the words in the box. Each word can be used only once. Note that there is one word more than you need.

NASA is on a journey to Mars, with a goal of sending humans to the Red Planet in the 2030s. That journey is already well under way.

For decades, the agency and its partners have sent orbiters, landers and rovers(探測器), 1 increasing our knowledge about the Red Planet and paving the way for future human explorers. The Curiosity rover has gathered radiation data to help us protect future astronauts, and the upcoming Mars 2020 rover will study the 2 of Martian resources, including oxygen.

Building on the robotic legacy(遺產(chǎn)), the human exploration of Mars crosses three thresholds(門檻), each with 3 challenges as humans move farther from Earth: Earth Reliant, the Proving Ground, and Earth Independent.

Earth Reliant explorations is 4 on research aboard the International Space Station. The orbiting microgravity laboratory serves as a world - class test bed for the technologies and communications systems needed for human missions to deep space. Astronauts are learning about what it takes to live and work in space for long periods of time, improving our understanding of how the body changes in space and how to protect astronauts' health.

Next, we move into the Proving Ground, 5 a series of missions near the moon called “cislunar space” to test the capabilities we will need to live and work at Mars. Astronauts on the space station are only hours away from Earth, but the proving ground is days away, a(n) 6 stepping stone to a Mars mission, which will be months away from home.

Also in the 2020s, we’ll send astronauts on a year-long mission into this deep space proving ground, confirming habitation and testing our 7 for Mars.

Finally, we become Earth Independent, building on the knowledge 8 on the space station and in deep space to send humans to low-Mars orbit in the early 2030s.

This phase will also test the entry, descent(降落)and landing techniques needed to get to the Martin surface and study what's needed for in-situ resource utilization or "living off the land". NASA is already studying the 9 "Exploration Zones" on Mars that would offer compelling science research and provide resources our astronauts can use.

There are challenges to 10 Mars, but we know they are solvable. We are well on our way to getting there, landing there, and living there.

Classical Roman drama

Following the expansion of the Roman Republic into several Greek territories between 270-240 BC, Rome encountered Greek drama. From the later years of the republic and by means of the Roman Empire, theatre spread west across Europe and reached England; Roman theatre was more varied, extensive and sophisticated than that of any culture before it.

While Greek drama continued to be performed throughout the Roman period, the year 240 BC marks the beginning of regular Roman drama. From the beginning of the empire, however, interest in full-length drama declined in favor of a broader 1 of theatrical entertainments. The first important works of Roman literature were the tragedies and comedies that Livius Andronicus wrote from 240 BC. Five years later, Gnaeus Naevius also began to write drama. No plays from either writer have survived. Andronicus was most appreciated for his tragedies and Naevius for his comedies; their successors(繼任者) tended to be 2 at one or the other, which led to a(n) 3 of the subsequent development of each type of drama.

By the beginning of the 2nd century BC, drama was firmly 4 in Rome and an association of writers had been formed. The Roman comedies that have survived are all “fabula palliate” (comedies based on Greek subjects) and come from two dramatists: Plautus and Terence. In re-working the Greek 5, the Roman comic dramatists abolished the role of the chorus(合唱) in dividing the drama into episodes and 6 musical accompaniment to its dialogue. The action of all scenes is set in the street and its complications often follow from eavesdropping(偷聽).

Plautus, the more popular of the two, wrote between 205 and 184 BC and twenty of his comedies survive; people 7 him for the wisdom of his dialogue and his use of various poetic meters. All of the six comedies that Terence wrote between 166 and 160 BC have survived; the 8 of his plots, in which he often combined several Greek stories, was sometimes criticized, but his double-plots enabled a sophisticated presentation of contrasting human behavior. No early Roman tragedy survives, though it was highly 9 in its day; historians know of three early tragedians—Quintus Ennius, Marcus Pacuvius, and Lucius Accius.

From the time of the empire, the work of two tragedians survives—one is an unknown author, while the other is the philosopher Seneca. Nine of Seneca’s tragedies survive, all of which are tragedies from Greek stories. Historians do not know who wrote the only extant example of the fabula praetexta (tragedies based on Roman subjects), Octavia, but in former times it was mistakenly attributed to Seneca due to his appearance as a(n) 10 in the tragedy.

The Sculptor Speaks

Appreciation of sculpture depends upon the ability to respond to form in three dimensions(維度). That is perhaps why sculpture has been described as the most difficult of all arts; certainly it is more difficult than the arts which involve 1 of flat forms, shape in only two dimensions. Many more people are ‘form-blind’ than color-blind. Children learning to see, first distinguishes only two-dimensional shape; it cannot judge distances, depths. Later, for their personal safety and practical needs, they have to develop partly by 2 of touch, the ability to judge roughly three-dimensional distances. But after they 3 the requirements of practical necessity, most people go no further. Though they may 4 considerable accuracy in the perception(知覺,感知) of flat form, they do not make the further intellectual and emotional effort needed to 5 form in its full spatial existence.

This is what the sculptor must do. He must 6 continually to think of, and use, form in its full spatial completeness. He gets the solid shape, as it were, inside his head—he thinks of it, whatever its size, as if he were holding it completely in the hollow of his hand. He 7 visualizes a complex form from all round itself; he knows while he looks at one side what the other side is like, he will have to 8 himself with its centre of gravity, its mass, its weight; and he realizes its volume, as the space that the shape displaces in the air.

And the sensitive observer of sculpture must also learn to feel shape simply as 9, not as description or reminiscence(回憶,聯(lián)想). He must, for example, see an egg as a simple single solid shape, quite apart from its significance as food, or from the 10 idea that it will become a bird. And so with solids such as a shell, a nut, a plum, a pear, a tadpole, a mushroom, a mountain peak, a kidney, a carrot, a tree-trunk, a bird, a bud, a lark, a ladybird, a bulrush, a bone. From these he can go on to appreciate more complex forms of combinations of several forms.

Dear Editor,

Nowadays, as the development of China’s urbanization, thousands of people move into cities, leave their children at home. However, many of these left-behind children have problems, which always feel lonely or stressed out and are more likely make mistakes. They even behave illegal due to lack of their parents’ love and care.

How can we solve a problem? In my eyes, our government should balance the economic develop in different area. Besides, we can organize “hand-in-hand” activities to call on more people to help them.
