About the course

The course gives you chances to know great power politics between nation states. It will provide more space to study particular issues such as relationship among countries in the European Union, third world debt, local and international disagreement, and the work of such international bodies as the United Nations, the European Union, NATO, and the World Bank.

The course puts theories into the working of the international system with close attention to particular countries. You will also have a better knowledge of methods of solving the international problems.

About the course

The demand for natural resources is becoming an increasingly serious problem for the future of mankind. Graduates(畢業(yè)生) in Earth Science will play an important role in meeting this demand, and in knowing the meaning of using the natural resources.

The course covers geography and geology. You will carry out fieldwork in the UK and possibly overseas, and a research in and areas of interest to you in the final year.

Who

All degree-doing international students are required to choose the curriculums related to Chinese Language and Culture. Refer to Item 3 for different arrangements for undergraduate students (本科生) ,master and doctor students.

What curriculum to choose

You are required to choose two curriculums related to Chinese Language and Culture that suit your own level and program. The curriculum consists of Elementary Chinese, Intermediate (中級(jí)的)Chinese, and Chinese Culture (Taught in Chinese and English ). Please refer to Attachment 1 for details.

How many credits

You are required to complete 6 credits for each curriculum within a term.

When and How

A. Undergraduate students: you are required to complete the curriculum selection process (The system will be reopened next week) by 5:00 p.m. on June 22, 2013. About how to choose the courses, you can refer to Attachment 2 (It is in Chinese; turn to your Chinese friends or teachers for help if you cannot follow the procedures of the attachment) for the instructions.

B. Master and Doctor Students: you won’t have to complete the curriculum selection until early September; please wait for further notice on the arrangement.

   "I'm happy that I can learn yoga at school. I love dancing but I had some injuries on my knees when I was a kid. So I decide to try something soft. Simply stretching into different poses makes me feel free and quiet. And the music is quite comforting. The class is relaxing after a whole day's work," Bai said.

    Liu Zehao,15, found his interest was Junior Achievement (企業(yè)經(jīng)營(yíng)模擬). The course brought students into the real world of business. In their first class, Liu and his group members named their company "Vision". Liu was elected as CEO of the company.

    "Here we learn to think like an adult. We have to make our company get more money. It's new and different from other courses," he said.

    Liu and Bai take their elective courses twice a week with students from other classes who share the same interest. The students will get two credits (學(xué)分) from each course at the end of this term. They have to achieve eight credit points from electives to graduate from high school.
