Several months ago I was involved in a car accident. That moment     my views on life.
All my life I had been waiting    I could get my driver’s     and my first car. When I    got my license and my dad brought the car to the house, I felt very    . From that day on, the most     thing in my life was that car. Every day I would get home and      what else I could do to make it better. My car was my    and joy and when I had fixed it up into “perfect” condition, I finally began to     it. Every time I got into my car I felt the greatest,     nothing could stop me, but one day I was     that just like any other person, I could be broken.
One night, though it was too     outside to see clearly, I was in the     with my friends. I felt unstoppable while driving,     soon enough I was shown that I wasn’t. While driving down a main street I felt I was     the car. It was flying. When I     what was happening, the only thing I could do was protect my friends from being hurt badly.
After the accident I don't remember much, but I do remember the     I was in, not only physical but also the thought that the lives of others were     for a few seconds and I may have dropped them. The memory of that day will never     me. I learned that material things should     be the most important things in your life. I also learned that I need to appreciate the things and people around me.

When I was in the seventh grade, I was a candy striper (義工) at a local hospital in my town. I volunteered(自愿做) about 30 to 40 hours a week during the summer.
Most of the time I spent there was with Mr. Gillespie. He never had any visitors, and nobody seemed to care about his condition. I spent many days there holding his hand and talking to him, helping with anything that needed to be done. He became a close friend of mine, even though he responded with only an occasional squeeze (緊握) of my hand. Mr. Gillespie was in a coma (昏迷).
I left for a week for a vacation with my parents, and when I came back, Mr. Gillespie was gone. I didn’t have the courage to ask any of the nurses where he was, for fear they might tell me he had died. So with many questions unanswered, I continued to volunteer there through my eighth-grade year.
Several years later, when I was a junior in high school, I was at the gas station when I noticed a familiar face. When I realized who it was, my eyes filled with tears. He was alive! I got up the nerve to ask him if he was Mr. Gillespie, and if he had been in a coma about five years ago. With an uncertain look on his face, he replied yes. I explained how I knew him, and that I had spent many hours talking to him in the hospital. His eyes welled up with tears, and he gave me the warmest hug I had ever received.
He began to tell me how, as he lay there comatose (昏睡的), he could hear me talking to him and could feel me holding his hand the whole time. He thought it was an angel(天使), who was there with him. Mr. Gillespie firmly believed that it was my voice and touch that had kept him alive. Then he told me about his life. We exchanged a hug, said our good-byes and went our separate ways.
Although I haven’t seen him since, he fills my heart with joy every day. I know that I made a difference between his life and his death. As importantly, he has made a great difference in my life. I will never forget him and what he did for me: He made me an angel.

Have you ever thought of taking a train and having an adventure(奇遇)?Riding the train can be a real adventure. That is how I feel every time I take Amtrak.I often take a four--hour trip to visit my children.Every time I take this trip I never know what will happen.
Last week when I was on the train and over an hour into the train ride, there was a man sitting by himself in the back of the train carrying on a mobile phone conversation-in another language. It was  loud and disturbed most of the people on the train.I think it was annoying.
Fortunately I sat next to a wonderful old lady who was taking a two--day trip by train. She said her two daughters were distraught at the thought of her driving for three days to reach her home, although she had no trouble driving. The train ride was the only choice for her.She loved to look out of the window and watch the world go by on the train.
She was fun to talk to and asked me when my children started being parents. That is a very good question. Both of us are old and have children. She asked that same question from time to time.
There are always many people on the train from all walks of life, different countries, and many  languages.Riding the train is a great way to increase your knowledge and take in all kinds of  cultures. If you get hungry, you can buy food in the food car at any time.If you need to use the restroom there is always one available.
It sure beats driving the car, which has to stop for food and restrooms. And it is better than taking the bus.
