Doctors say anger can be an extremely damaging emotion, unless you learn how to deal with it. They warn that anger can lead to heart disease, stomach problems, headaches? emotional problems and even cancer.

13 Some people express anger openly in a calm and reasonable way. Others burst with anger, and scream and yell. But other people keep their anger inside. They cannot or will not express it. This is called repress?ing anger.

For years many doctors thought that repressing anger was more dan?gerous to a person's health than expressing it. They said that when a person is angry, the brain releases the same hormones(荷爾蒙).They speed the heart rate, raise blood pressure or sugar in the blood, etc. 14

Some doctors say that both repressing and expressing anger can be dan?gerous. They believe that those who express anger violently may be more likely to develop heart disease, and they believe that those who keep anger inside may face a greater danger of high blood pressure.

15 They say the first step is to admit that you are angry and to rec?ognize the real cause of the anger, and then decide if the cause is serious enough to get angry about. If it is, they say, "   16  Wait until your anger has cooled down and you are able to express yourself calmly and reasonably."

Doctors say that a good way to deal with anger is to find humour in the situation that has made you angry.17

A.  In general the person feels excited and ready to act.

B.  They say that laughter is much healthier than anger.

C.  Expressing anger violently is more harmful than repressing it.

D.  Anger may cause you a cancer.

I.閱讀理解(共兩節(jié),滿分34分)

第一節(jié)(共12小題;每小題2分,滿分24分)

A

Many people who work in London prefer to live outside it, and to go to their offices or schools every day by train, car or bus, even though this means they have to get up early in the morning and reach home late in the evening.

One advantage of living outside London is that houses are cheaper. Even a small flat in London without a garden costs quite a lot to rent. With the same money, one can get a little house in the country with a garden of one's own.

Then, in the country one can rest from the noise and hurry of the town. Even though one has to get up earlier and spend more time in trains or buses, one can sleep better at night and during weekends and on summer evenings, one can enjoy the fresh, clean air of the country. If one likes gar?dens, one can spend one's free time digging, planting, watering and doing the other jobs which are needed in a garden. Then, when the flowers and vegetables come up, one has the reward of one who has shared the secret of nature.

Some people, however, take no interest in country things. For them, happiness lies in the town, with its cinemas and theatres, beautiful shops and busy sLreets, dance-halls and restaurants. Such people would feel that their life was not worth living if they had to live it outside London. An occa?sional walk in one of the parks or a fortnight's visit to the sea every summer is all the country life they want : the rest they are quite prepared to leave to those who are glad to get away from London every night.
