Mother was right, as I discovered after graduating from college. I had designed myself for a 43  announcer(播音員). So I went to Chicago and knocked on the door of every station and got   44  every time.
In one station, a kind lady told me that   45  stations wouldn’t risk employing a person without   46  since I had just graduated. “Go out in the town and find a small station that might give you a chance,” she said.

小題1:考查動詞。carry on 在這里的意思是“繼續(xù),不放棄” 相當于not give up。小題2:考查動詞。句意; “一切都會好的。如果你堅持下去,總有一天會有好事發(fā)生。你會認識到,如果沒有以前的挫折就不會有現在的一切!
小題3:考查名詞。結合下文can a fellow get to be a sports announcer sports announcer可知答案。
從后文那位lady 說的話“Go out in the town and find a small station that might give you a chance.” 我們得知,她認為大的電臺不會錄用“我”。
小題6:考查名詞。從空后的since I had just graduated 得知,“我沒有工作經驗!

Once there was a young woman who didn’t like her job. Everyday when she came home from work, she told her husband how terrible her day had been, how tiring the work and how unreasonable her boss. “Leave that job,” her husband told her.
“Oh, I will,” she said. “But not yet. I have too many friends there for me to leave.” And so she remained unhappy at work until the years became decades and her children had children. “Leave that job,” her grandchildren told her. “Oh, I will,” she said. “But not yet. There are only seven more years until I reach thirty years of service and can retire. So I can’t just yet.”
I know this woman. And her story reminds me of an old dog half asleep on the porch of a general store, moaning and groaning in the sun. “Why is your dog acting that way?” a customer asked the store owner. “Oh,” answered the man. “He’s lying on a nail.” “Well, why doesn’t he move?” “Because it’s not hurting him bad enough.”
That’s true for people, too. We convince ourselves the pain is not bad enough to leave the workplace we know. But we’re wrong. Prolonged work pain is continuing. Some work pain damages our self-esteem, kills our passion or destroys our dreams.
Wilbur Wright once commented, “We could hardly wait to get up in the morning. I know that exhilarating feeling of being so passionate about something I was working on that I couldn’t wait to get back to work. And people who are winning at working know that kind of passion, too.”
They get excited about work. They offer their unique gifts and talents eagerly. And when things don’t change as they sometimes will, they refuse to let environment hijack(劫持) their self-esteem, passion or dreams.

"Where do you belong? Certainly not here!"
I turned around to find a teacher staring  42  at us, shouting. In those frozen seconds millions of  43  flashed through my mind.My father would kill me for disobeying teachers.Worse than that, my mother might be so mad that she might not  44  him.My heart  45  even lower when I thought of how angry Mr.Johnson would be.Soon the teacher led Kim and me back to the classroom, leaving us  46  before Mr.Johnson.
But to our  47  , there was no yelling and no anger from Mr.Johnson. 48  , he bent slowly to look me in the eye.I was met with a look of  49  rather than anger. He spoke softly and carefully as he explained why he was  50  in my decision to go where I might have got  51 .As I looked into the eyes of the man who could send me to unimagined  52  at home, tears welled up in my eyes. The thought of disappointing Mr.Johnson  53  me while I felt a gentle touch of Mr.Johnson's hand on my shoulder.I glanced up and he smiled. My  54  for Mr.Johnson grew greatly the moment I discovered that he still liked me even after I'd disappointed him.I could see that he cared more about my  55  than the fact that I'd broken a rule.It was the first time I felt the power of forgiveness.
