科目:高中英語(yǔ) 來(lái)源:2017屆安徽“皖南八!备呷诙温(lián)考(12月)英語(yǔ)卷(解析版) 題型:閱讀理解

An early morning winter storm had brought several inches of snow on my small town in the mountains. Schools were canceled, roads were dangerous and all I wanted to do was to stay in bed. Still, I knew I had to get the day started so I put on warm clothes and walked outside. The snow got all over my shoes. The cold wind dried my lips and my eyes. My 47 year-old back ached in anticipation(預(yù)想)of the shoveling(鏟雪)I would have to do if the snow didn't stop soon.

Yet, when I looked out on the white blanket that covered the ground, I couldn't help but smile a bit. It was so beautiful. It softened the bare trees and hid the dead grass. In the distance I could hear the sound of the snowplow(雪犁) on the road, the barking of a happy dog and the laughter of children playing outside, enjoying their way off from school.

The sweet music of that laughter brought back a hundred memories of winters past. I remembered catching snowflakes (雪花) on my tongue, building snowmen, making snow angles, running down hills and always losing snowball fights with first my brothers and then my own children. Standing there in that warm coat of memories made the wind a little less cold and my back a little less sore(疼痛的). I turned up my head, stuck out my tongue and for the first time in years caught a snowflake on it. It tasted so fresh and clean. It tasted like youth, like joy and like love.

May you always feel young in spirit, no matter how old or achy your body may be. May you always delight in the simple joys of life. May you always share your happiness with the hearts of children. And may you always give your love, your light, your laughter and your warmth to others even on the coldest days.

1.What was the author's first reaction when he knew it snowed heavily?

A. He was upset.B. He was happy.

C. He was thankful.D. He was moved.

2.From which senses did the author describe the joy of having snow?

A. Taste and smell.

B. Sight and smell.

C. Smell, hearing and taste.

D. Sight, hearing and taste.

3.What does the author mainly want to tell us with this article?

A. Appreciate every snowstorm you spend with your family.

B. Snow brings both fun and trouble.

C. Memories can change our opinion.

D. We should stay young at heart.

4.From the underlined sentence in Paragraph l, we can know that “________".

A. my back ached because of the cold weather

B. I didn't want to start my day on such a snowy day

C. my back would ache upon thinking of cleaning up the snow

D. the snow didn't stop and I felt too cold

Our flat was on the fifth floor but you could still hear the roar of the ocean and see the stars at night. I used to take long walks along the water. The food in town was delicious and the people were very friendly. The area was very quiet and peaceful, and fairly deserted.

The last evening of our vacation, however, we all heard strange footsteps following closely behind us as we were walking up to our flat in the holiday centre. We turned around and noticed a fairly young man moving very rapidly across the beach and getting closer to us. He was tall and wore a baseball cap. We couldn’t see his face and he was approaching us very rapidly. The man’s actions made my dad very nervous. Dad warned us that we’d better try to make it to our flat as quickly as possible. I didn’t like my dad’s voice; I could hear fear in it. It was late and we were all alone. We didn’t have any cell phones on us. I never saw Dad as worried as he was then and I knew that something was terribly wrong. The sense of fear started to overwhelm Mom and me. We had had such a good time in town. Now, the night was rapidly turning into a dangerous situation.

We could hear the man’s footsteps getting closer. Dad’s face was almost pale. The so-called intruder (侵入者) had moved nearer and nearer when all of a sudden, the nearby vending(自動(dòng)販賣) machine started going crazy and spitting out cans of soda! The noise actually scared the intruder and he ran out of sight. My parents were shaking, but we all turned around to see who had put money into the vending machine downstairs, and actually saved us, but no one was around at all. Not a soul.

It’s one vacation I will never forget.

1.Where did the writer spend her vacation?

A. Near a river.B. In a city.

C. In a mountain.D. At the seaside.

2.What does the underlined word “overwhelm” in Paragraph 2 mean?

A. move.B. impress.C. control.D. excite.

3.What helped them get rid of the trouble?

A. Their quick action.

B. Other people’s kind help.

C. The noise from the vending machine.

D. The young man’s warning.

My color television has given me nothing but a headache. I was able to buy it a little over a year ago because I had my relatives give me money for my birthday instead of a lot of clothes that wouldn’t fit. I let a salesclerk fool me into buying a discontinued model. I realized this a day later, when I saw newspaper advertisements for the set at seventy-five dollars less than I had paid. The set worked so beautifully when I first got it home that I would keep it on until stations signed off for the night. Fortunately, I didn’t get any channels showing all-night movies or I would never have gotten to bed.

Then I started developing a problem with the set that involved static(靜電)noise. For some reason, when certain shows switched into a commercial, a loud noise would sound for a few seconds. Gradually, this noise began to appear during a show, and to get rid of it, I had to change to another channel and then change it back. Sometimes this technique would not work, and I had to pick up the set and shake it to remove the sound. I actually began to build up my arm muscles(肌肉)shaking my set.

When neither of these methods removed the static noise, I would sit helplessly and wait for the noise to go away. At last I ended up hitting the set with my fist, and it stopped working altogether. My trip to the repair shop cost me $62, and the set is working well now, but I keep expecting more trouble.

1.Why did the author say he was fooled into buying the TV set?

A. He got an older model than he had expected.

B. He couldn’t return it when it was broken.

C. He could have bought it at a lower price.

D. He failed to find any movie shows on it.

2.Which of the following can best replace the phrase” signed off” in Paragraph 1?

A. ended all their programs B. provided fewer channels

C. changed to commercials D. showed all-night movies

3.How did the author finally get his TV set working again?

A. By shaking and hitting it. B. By turning it on and off.

C. By switching channels. D. By having it repaired.

4.How does the author sound when telling the story?

A. Curious. B. Anxious. C. Cautious. D. Humorous.

How to talk to your child about a future career

Thinking about a future career can bring a lot of stress. 1. This cuts up the question into workable issues that you and your child can enjoy dealing with throughout their childhood years. Here’s how:

●In your child’s life, there are times when they are given the opportunity to see and/or discuss a certain career. Schools have Career Day, an aunt or uncle talks about what they do for a living or your child’s youth group goes on a trip to a hospital and talks to the staff there. 2.

●When your child shows interest in a certain career, you should do some research. Then, you can offer your child some information on that job and related jobs. 3. It is a wonderful free online resource.

●Help your child weigh the pros and cons for his or her different career interests. Encourage your child to narrow(縮小) the choices down to five at the most.

●4. This is a good time to begin ordering in college and technical school lists. Use the lists and any other information you have found as an ice breaker for more conversations with your child.

●5. Make this a clear message. Teach your child that part of being independent is knowing when and who to lead on, trust and respect.

A. Do you feel you have open communication with your child?

B. The Occupational Outlook Handbook gives you what schooling is needed.

C. The final decision lies with your child, but you do have the right to have input.

D. Choosing the right career is one of the most important decisions your child will make in life.

E. Figure out the path your child would have to take to obtain the schooling for his career choices.

F. Each of these times is an opportunity for you to ask your child what he thought of those jobs or that field of work.

G. Parents need to learn to help their child conquer this great question by dropping seeds of conversation as time goes by and watch them grow into ideas.
