Organizing Your Time
You can set a budget(預算) for your time just as you can set a budget for your money. Since you’re trying to reduce worry rather than increase it,go into this process with a focus on maximizing(使…最大化)your personal time, rather than cramming(塞滿) as much as you can into each day.
● Set a sleep schedule(時間表).1.Give yourself a one-hour target(目標) window for bedtime in the evening, and set a strict time to get up in the morning.Be sure that the space between your bedtime and the start of your day gives you roughly an hour more than the amount of sleep you actually need.2.
●Take care of tasks at the same time every day. Plan time for daily health care, commuting(乘公交下上班), work, shopping, eating, and chores(家務). Add in time for anything else you do most days, such as homework, exercise, or an active hobby.3.All the time left over is your free time, to use for relaxation or whatever else you want.
● 4.For example, you might plan to go, dropping on your way home from work, to save the extra trip.
For many people, an irregular work schedule make this kind of budgeting difficult.5.
A. However, you can still plan to work around your schedule in the same order every day.
B. Stick to it,even on weekends.
C. Try to combine trips outside the home to maximize(最大化)your free time.
D. Different days call for different approaches.
E. Therefore, you won’t lay down and start worrying about whether or not you’ll fall asleep on time.
F. Sit comfortably and focus on your breathing until the rest of your thoughts become quiet.
G. Put them in a specific order that works for you.

Volunteering Is Fun
One afternoon I was sitting at home feeling so bored. Instead of feeling sorry for myself, I wanted to meet people and have new experiences so I decided to start volunteering. I searched on my computer and found a website where I could volunteer on a farm in France.
My time working on a farm was a new experience for me. It was basically a free holiday as food and accommodation were provided. However, it was not your typical holiday as I had to look after fifteen horses and sleep at the top of a tower in a castle! I was an awful farmer but it did not matter because I made some great friends.
However, you do not need to go abroad to volunteer. I have had plenty of adventures at home as volunteering can become a hobby. For example, I love singing so I had a good laugh waving my arms in an attempt to conduct my local choir. I did slowly improve and it felt great to conduct the choir in a concert. At university, I organised a concert for charity with my friends. It was really fun finding hands and raising money for a cause we believe in.
It is true that you feel good volunteering but there are also other advantages. I once vol-unteered as a server at a charity sports event where the organizers gave me cupcakes to thank me for my services. I also volunteered in a charity shop so I found loads of nice cheap clothes to update my wardrobe (衣柜).
While this is all fun, my favourite aspect of volunteering is creating and sharing stories. My terrible attempts at farming have given me hilarious stories to tell! Talking to volunteers from different countries and backgrounds has also helped me learn more about the world. I feel thankful to have had so much fun with many nice people thanks to volunteering.

Jessica Westervelt,a Spanish teacher at Bethlehem High School in New York, created an activity called “House Hunters”,which was inspired by the popular television show “House Hunters International”,for her Spanish class about four years ago.
Similar to the show, students work in groups, pretending to be real house agents, and look for three houses in Spanish-speaking countries. She uses the activity to teach vocabulary related to the home, chores, travel and vacation. She created the exercise because she wanted to incorporate her students’ interests into the curriculum. At the time,a group of her students were big fans of the show.
The students look for a house for Westervelt to buy to live in,or rent for vacation. She tells them what she is looking for in a home and gives them a budget.Students work in groups of three, and each student is responsible for finding one house in a Spanish-speaking country that fits the requirements.
The groups usually make a brochure describing the houses they find. Each group presents their findings to the class, while the other students take notes. The entire activity is done in Spanish,so students get to practice their writing, listening and conversation skills. They also get some cultural education when researching homes in Spanish-speaking countries.Westervelt says that students planning to take the class look forward to her project.

Science and technology have advanced at such a rate that cloning has now become a reality. The possibility of cloning humans is a serious issue(爭論點) and raises ethical(倫理的) questions. In my opinion, cloning is useful for research into cures for disease. However, I think that it needs to be approached with caution and carefully monitored by governments.
Research into cloning and stem(嚴格的) cell production is primarily aimed at finding new treatments for currently incurable illnesses. While this would improve the quality of life for many, not enough is understood about what effects cloning would have on the world in the future. This is primarily because we do not understand enough about the results of cloning and both the physical and psychological effects that it is likely to have on cloned humans and on the rest of the world. Furthermore, it is thought that a cloned human would be unlikely to survive birth and would suffer from complications(并發(fā)癥) resulting from malformed(畸形) organs .
There are also serious ethical issues in danger. In essence(在本質上), those who are against cloning would argue that scientists have no right to play God and to interfere(干擾)with natural processes. Producing embryos for the purpose of harvesting stem cells for research presents important questions about the nature and status of the embryo being produced. It may also make us question whether throwing it away after use reduces the value we place on human life.
In conclusion, I do not agree that research into cloning using human embryos should continue. This is not only because it may reduce the value we place on human life, but also because not enough is known about the effects. However, I do think that if there is a way to produce stem cells using cloning which does not put human life at risk, then governments should continue to support it.
1.What is the writer’s general opinion on cloning?
A. It is useful in every area of research.
B. It needs to be carefully controlled by governments.
C. It is useful for research into cures for disease if it is controlled.
D. It is only useful for research into cures for disease.
2.The underlined word “approach” in the first paragraph means “______”
A. reach a high level or amount B. move forward
C. come near D. deal with
3.The writer’s main reason against cloning is that ______.
A. not enough is known about the effects of cloning
B. a cloned human would be likely to die of malformed organs
C. cloning has negative physical and psychological effects on clones
D. it would affect the quality of life for many
4.In the last paragraph, the writer thinks governments should______
A. not put human life at risk
B. support all forms of research into stern cell production
C. not support any form of research into stern cell production
D. support research into stern cell production harmless to humans life
