Save Your Time, Money and Stress with Savvy Rental Car Strategies
Renting a car can be expensive, confusing, and stressful — but it doesn’t have to be. Here are several helpful strategies to save money, time, and stress on your next (and every) car rental.
Sign Up for Loyalty Programs
Rental car loyalty programs are free to join, so register for any programs you might use in the future. My favorite car rental loyalty program benefit is that I can skip the counter and head right to my reserved car. Some programs allow members to choose a car from the available pool. 【1】
Optimize Your Strategy
Do you really need a rental car from the airport? For instance, if your flight arrives at night, take a free hotel shuttle and pick up your car the next day. The car rental location might even be at your hotel or can pick you up (or deliver the car to you). 【2】
【3】
For a city trip, you may not even need a rental car. Research whether mass transit, taxi, Uber, bike rental, and other transportation methods will suffice. Parking charges at downtown hotels may cost more than your car rental rate, so it may be doubly in your favor to give up a rental car. In some locations, a bike might be more efficient and economical than a car.
Search for Specials
【4】 In conjunction with your personal discount code, you may also find a last-minute rate, free rental day, or other promotion. My favorite annual travel deal is driving a car one-way out of Florida after Spring Break with rates as low as $1 per day.
Consider Alternative Rental Options
Major car rental companies might have an associated discount brand at your rental location, like Firefly for Hertz. 【5】 An independent or smaller local agency may fit your needs; like A1 or Lucky Owl in Honolulu. Many people prefer to check rates on Hotwire and Priceline, especially for last-minute rentals.
A.Rental rates are likely lower away from the airport, plus you might save the cost of an entire rental day.
B.I use discount-finding websites to track my car reservations.
C.Smaller brands, like Thrifty and Fox, might offer better service and lower rates.
D.In addition to saving time and offering freedom of choice, loyalty members earn points and receive special promotions.
E.Check car rental company websites for current specials.
F.Skip the Car
G.Use a bike

As is known by all, with the improvement of people’s living standards, cars have become a popular means of transport, bring great convenience to our life. However, they have also caused some problems such as air pollution and traffic jam.
How can we solve these problems then? As far as I am concerning, riding bicycles is a good solution. For one thing, bicycles don’t need any petrol but they are energy-saving. For another, bicycles are environmentally friendly because of they won’t give off waste gas. Beside, riding bicycles is a good way for us to exercise and it is beneficial to our healthy.
As result, let’s take the responsibility to build up a low-carbon city by riding bicycles. Come on and join them.

Dear Diary,
Here I am in the middle of a city, 350 miles far away from our farmhouse. Do you want to know why we move last week? Dad lost his job, and as Mom explained, “He is lucky to find other one.” His new job meant I had to say goodbye to my classmate, my school and just everything else I love in the world. To make things bad, now I have to share a room to my younger sister, Maggie. Tomorrow is first day of school. I am very tiring, but I know I’ll never fall asleep.
Good night or remember, you, dear diary, is my only souvenir of my past life and my only friend.
Yours,
Rosemary

【題目】Genetically modified (轉(zhuǎn)基因 ) foods have become a focus point of agriculture throughout the news today. This has an effect on many different aspects of the agriculture world. From the seed dealer, to the farmer that buys the seed, to the workers that the farmer sells to; all are affected by the new technologies that are involved in this part of production agriculture.
Genetically modified foods have come under heavy fire lately. There are some countries that are against buying these types of foods. They are tested for safety by the best scientific experts in Europe, the US and the rest of the world. They are not for sale until they have gone through this complete safety process. Since they are a new product, and any slight problem with them could affect a whole country, these tests are very necessary.
These safety tests are carried out because of the new rules that were made with the Novel Foods Regulation. Begun in May of 1997, the Novel Foods Regulation set up an EU-wide pre-market system for all novel foods. A novel food is described as one that has not been eaten by EU consumers widely in the past. By setting up this program the EU hopes to keep its consumers safe from any possible side effects of any new food products.
There are a variety of ways in which genetic modification has helped food producers. They can improve the nutritional (營養(yǎng)的) value or the storage conditions of the food. Today there are only two genetically modified foods that have been allowed for use, these are GM soybean and GM maize.
