【題目】閱讀下面的短文,并根據(jù)短文后的要求答題(請注意問題后的字?jǐn)?shù)要求)。
My daughter did an experiment for me two summers ago. She applied to job openings she'd found on a couple of big online job boards. She mailed the applications and waited. And waited. After sending out 100 resumes (履歷表),specially addressed to each organization's human resources ( HR ) manager, fewer than five HR departments took the time to reply, or acknowledged receipt.
What happened?
Maybe in the thirty seconds or so of attention that her resume received, each HR person made a snap decision. It seemed that 95of them were unimpressed.
Or, maybe, out of the 300 other resumes HR had received that morning, they had already scheduled a requisite (必要的)number of interviews. Or, maybe HR simply forwarded her resume to the hiring manager who was supposed to call her for an interview.
Or, maybe they thought her resume was fairly generic (—般的)and they didn't have time to figure out if she might be a good fit, with the necessary skills, the attitude, and the desire to do the job.
Most likely, the real reason why she didn't get an interview was the last one. HR didn't have time to figure out how she would work in their company.
This happens all the time. I think most job seekers make the serious mistake of thinking that all they need to do is tell the HR department what they did in the past .
That might be OK for some hiring managers, but most want to know the answer to one question : How can this applicant help us right now? If your resume does not answer that question, or sufficiently tell a story about how you may be able to help, you won't have a shot at the job in this market.
Before you can answer that question, however, you need to do some research on the company. Find out everything you can about the company, including the departments, the people, the products, markets, and the plans for the future.
Information is power, and it is available quite easily. Don't expect HR to figure out how you might fit into their organization. You __________ instead. This is the surest way to get the interview.

【題目】We lived in a quiet neighborhood. One evening I heard a loud crash. Earlier my wife had asked me to the store for soft drinks. My teenage daughter Holly practiced her driving, so I sent her to the store in my truck.
At dinner my son talked about how much he liked my truck. I enjoyed having it, but I said : “My heart is not set on that truck. I like it but it is just metal and won't last forever. Never set your heart on anything that won't last. "
After hearing the loud noise, the whole family ran outside. My son shouted, ‘ Holly crashed your truck. ’
The accident had occurred in my own driveway. Holly had crashed my truck into our other vehicle, the family van. In her inexperience, she had confused the brake and the gas pedal. Holly was unhurt physically, but she was crying, “Dad, I'm sorry. I know how much you love this truck. ," I held her in my arms as she cried.
Later a friend asked what had happened to my truck. I told her the whole story. She said, “That happened to me when I was a girl. I borrowed my dad's car and ran into a log that had fallen across the road. I ruined the car. When I got home my dad knocked me to the ground and began to kick me. “Over 40 years later, she still felt the pain of that night. It was a deep wound on her soul.
I remembered how sad Holly was the night she crashed our truck, and how I comforted her. When Holly thinks back on her life, I want her to know that I love her a thousand times more than any piece of property.
I repaired the van, but the dent in my truck is still there to-day. Every day it reminds me of what really matters in my life.
