One year ago, I was in great trouble. I worked hard at English and devote all my spare time to practise it. But I failed to pass the mid-term examination, which made me great disappointed. So I asked my grandpa for advice when I got to home. Hearing that I told him, he said, “To some extent, examination results are sometime unexpected by your study level. You can’t judge your progress by one examination.” He encouraged myself to work hard for long time to check my results. I took my grandpa’s advice. Now I realize that the process of learning is much more important and my English is more better than before. From my experience, I feel that we should listen to opinion from old people.

How to Do Well in Exams
Do not underestimate the power of revision in the days and hours before and examination. The closer you are to the exam, the more chance you have of storing and retaining crucial information. But do not overdo it.  小題1:  An effective daily routine can help you through an exam period, so in the days leading up to your first exam, get into the habit of being up and ready to work by game. It can be a shock to the system after months of working to your own timetable to be mentally alert at that time if you have not prepared for it.
On the day of the exam, have a good breakfast, pack two of everything you need(pens, pencils, erasers, etc.), then make you way to the examination hall in good time.   小題2:
Once in your seat, simply pause for a few seconds and collect your thoughts. Close you eyes and take in a few slow, deep breaths to help you relax. When you turn over the test paper, spend a short period reading through all the instructions and questions, paying particular attention to key verbs such as “discuss”, “compare” and “evaluate”.   小題3:  It is wise always to allow for 10 minutes at the end of the exam to give yourself time to go back over your answers. Once you have selected the questions you wish to tackle, begin by attempting the one you think is your strongest. It will give you more confidence when you see a well-answered question down on paper. Also remember to write clearly, and do not be afraid to express the unexpected: after all, examiners can get very bored marking stereotypical answers.
小題4:  If you do need something else to focus on to help collect your thoughts, choose a fixture in the room, such as the ceiling or anything else that will not allow you to be distracted.
Finally, once you have finished, never hang around outside afterwards to attend the discussion by other students.   小題5:
A.Do not arrive too early, though, as other people’s anxiety can by contagious, and you may suffer from undue panic
B.Try not to be tempted to look at those around you, or at the clock
C.When you get home, read the examination paper through and look up all the words you didn’t understand
D.Sleep, exercise and relaxation are all just as important
E. Map out a quick plan of points you wish to make and how much time you should spend on each question.
F. Go and have a well-earned rest, then prepare for your next exam.
G. Hurry and prepare for your next exam

Secrets of People Who Never Get Sick
How do some friends survive every winter without even catching a cold? Some experts believe that they boost their immunity through simple lifestyle habits. Let’s steal their strategies and stay healthy all winter long.
小題1:. _________________
It’s long been known that friendship is good for your health. In fact, people with six or more types of relationships in their lives were 25% less likely to get sick than those with three or fewer. It’s possible that people with varies social networks have diverse perceptions of themselves—as a co-worker, friend or community member. That boosts self-esteem and makes it easier to avoid stress. As a result, these people tend to stay healthier. Steal this secret: Be open to meeting new people; go to new events and reestablish old friendship.
小題2: _________________
Research has found that moderate exercise can improve immune function and build up resistance to colds and infections. On study of 36 overweight women, conducted at Loma Linda University, in California, found that those who walked quickly for 45 minutes 5 days a week reported half the number of days with cold symptoms during a 15-week period as their sedentary(久坐的) counterparts. Steal the secret: Aim for 40 to 45 minutes of moderate exercise, such as brisk walking, cycling, swimming or light running, at least five days a week.
小題3:. _________________
Numerous studies have found that writing about a difficult or painful event not only accelerates the process of coping with it, but also can improve your physical health. When people write about upsetting or distressing experiences, it helps them judge the events more sensibly, understand them better and move on. Steal the secret: set aside twenty minutes a day for three successive days to write about the things that are most important to you now and how they’re affecting you.
小題4:. _________________
Even small pleasures—having friends over for dinner, playing with your kids in the backyard or going to a concert—can boost your immune system. In fact, according to research at the State University of New York, positive events have a better effect on immune function than negative events. Steal this secret: Make time for yourself. Start devoting at least half an hour a day to talking to a friend, reading a book or indulging in your favorite activity. Think of it as preventive medicine.
小題5:. __________________
Experts know that pressure increases the chance of catching the cold. The reason? Your body’s helper—T cells, which are key to defending against viruses, become weakened when you’re worn out. Steal the secret: Do some problem-solving. First, take a hard look at the situation and really consider whether you can do anything to change things. If you conclude that you can’t change that situation, try to change your physical and emotional reactions to it. Engaging in meditation, yoga or deep-breathing exercises and listing to calming music also help relieve stress.
