Star Wars Millennium Falcon
This is a gift that, if we’re being honest, many dads wants to own for themselves. This huge ship is the greatest Star Wars toy. It lights up and makes some noises. Every boy from 3 to 53 will absolutely like it, if they can find room for it. I dare say even a few grandfathers might go for it.
Biscuit----the Loving Pup
You may clearly know that a pet can be a great thing to a child’s development but you probably don’t think that you can take care of a dog properly. The robot dog Biscuit is less likely to exacerbate the disorder of your house and except for a few dead batteries, won’t leave any surprises on the floor. It will be a good playmate for your kids.
JVC KD—10 Headphones
It’s increasing common for kids to enjoy themselves on long journeys with a potable(便攜式) DVD player or an iPod MPs, but the headphones that come with expensive electronics are seldom suitable for young ears. Kids should use JVC headphones that have a sound limiter that can be set by the concerned parent.
Sparrow-kids Routemaster Kit

I grew depressed (沮喪的), even as my husband Charlie’s career skyrocketed. He was a NASA astronaut. I was excited for him when he began training to go to the moon, and I involved (潛心于) myself with the flight as much as possible, but I was really looking forward to it being over. Inside I was hoping that once he got this goal behind him, he would put me first.
But he didn’t. He still had that workaholic(工作狂) drive. He was still following a list of goals which I was still down near the bottom of. I considered breaking up but I wondered if any man could love me the way I wanted to be loved. Was there even such a thing as the perfect marriage? I didn’t wish it anymore. However, in his eyes, our marriage certainly hadn’t delivered any satisfaction, so within several years we were heading full-speed toward breaking up.
I began to look for other things to satisfy me. I tried a career. I tried church work. I helped the needy. Nothing worked. I even tried drugs, but they didn’t work either. I thought, maybe there was no purpose in life. Didn’t that seem strange? I was married to a famous man, had a nice home and healthy children, plenty of money, yet I had no hope.

The three most valuable brand(商標(biāo))names on earth : Marlboro, Coca-cola and Budweiser, in that order.
It’s interesting that of the three most valuable brand names on earth, NONE of them are good for you.
Cigarettes kill 370,000 people a year in the U.S., not counting passive smoke. That’s over 1,000 people per day, equaling to five giant jets crashing daily. The estimates are that passive cigarette smoke kills over 15,000 people per year. That’s more than illegal drugs.
Coke is a solid company, but let’s face it, carbonated(含二氧化碳的) soft drinks of any brand are not healthy for you. There was a fellow parked in my driveway years ago. We were talking and he was drinking a cola. For some reason I had moved the cola and placed it on the hood (發(fā)動(dòng)機(jī)罩) of his car.
“Don’t put that drink on my car!” he shouted. “Don’t you know the acid(酸) in that drink will eat the paint off my car?” he said. He quickly took the drink and finished drinking it.
The third most valuable brand in the world is a beer.
It’s interesting what we value the most. You can’t control what the world values. You can only control what you value.
What do you value? Is it really valuable?
One method of determining what you really value is to try to do without it. If you can’t do it without it, then that’s what you value.
Are you trying to get to the mountaintop with a cigarette in your mouth, a soda in one hand, and a beer in the other because those are the things that you can’t do without?
Stop and think about your real treasures.“For where your treasure is, there will be your heart also ...”
56. According to the passage, Budweiser refers to____ .
 A. a kind of cigarette        B. a kind of soft drink
 C. a kind of paint           D. a kind of beer
57. How many people are killed by passive cigarette smoke per day?
 A. about 1,000       B. about 15,000      C. about 40         D. about 370,000
58. Why did the fellow take the cola and finish drinking it immediately?
 A. Because cola was good for his health.
 B. Because cola would damage the paint of his car.
 C. Because he was very thirsty then.
 D. Because he wanted to apologize to me.
59. What is the purpose of the text?
 A. To give advice on how to determine what you value most.
 B. To encourage people to give up smoking and drinking.
 C. To warn people not to believe advertisements.
 D. To tell people to have a clear mind about what is really valuable.

閱讀下列短文,從每題所給的四個(gè)選項(xiàng)(A、B、C和D)中,選出最佳選項(xiàng),并在答題卡上將該項(xiàng)涂黑。
Most book reviews start with a heading that includes all the basic information about the book, like:
Title.
Author.
Place of publication; publisher, date of publication.
Number of pages.
Like most pieces of writing, the review usually begins with an introduction that lets your readers know what the review will say. The first paragraph usually includes the author and title again, so your readers don’t have to look up to find this information. You should also include a very brief description of the contents of the book, the purpose or audience for the book, and your reaction and evaluation.
Then you move into a section of background information that helps place the book in context and discusses criteria for judging the book. Next, the review gives a summary of the main points of the book, quoting(引用) and explaining key phrases from the author. Finally, you get to the heart of your review – your evaluation of the book. In this section, you might discuss some of the following issues:
how well the book has achieved its goal
what possibilities are suggested by the book
what the book has left out
how the book compares with others on the subject
what specific points are not convincing
what personal experiences you’ve had related to the subject.
It is important to use labels to carefully distinguish your views from the author’s, so that you don’t confuse your reader.
Then, like other essays, you can end with a direct comment on the book, and tie together issues raised in the review in a conclusion.
There is, of course, no set form, but a general rule is that the first one – half to two – thirds of the review should summarize the author’s main ideas and at least one – third should evaluate the book.
56.What is the most important part of a book review?
A.The heading.           B.The evaluation.
C.The conclusion.              D.The introduction.
57.It can be confusing to readers if __________.
A.there is no heading in a book review
B.the book has achieved its goal
C.the viewer’s point of view is not distinguished from the author’s
D.the book is compared with others on the same subject
58.What is NOT suggested for a book review in this passage?
A.Quoting from the author of the book.
B.Providing some book information.
C.Analyzing only the author of the book.
D.Comparing the book with others of a similar subject.
59.The best title for this passage is “__________”.
A.Steps to follow
B.Tips for writing a book review
