It is sometimes reported that strange flying objects have been seen high up in the sky. People call these strange objects Unidentified(不明的)Flying Objects(UFOs). These UFOs caused a lot of interest. Some of the reports about them are difficult to believe. Some have been explained in scientific ways. Others have never been explained.

Here is an account of UFOs from a report.

Dennis Bardens, who wrote an article, tells us that he once saw a UFO himself. He was having dinner one night with a friend near Tripoli(的黎波里),Libya(利比亞),and after dinner the two men walked across a yard to his room to look at some papers.Bardens noticed that the moon looked strange that night.

“It wasn't the moon,”was the reply.

They watched the light and saw that it was moving. It seemed to be an object rather like a big plate. In some ways it looked like smoke with a light on it,but it wasn't smoke because it didn't change its shape. It was moving in a regular way. That is to say,it didn't go suddenly faster or more slowly, and it didn't go higher or lower. So the two men decided that there must be men in it.

When it came nearer to Libya,Bardens said that he felt eyes looking at him.He was being watched in the darkness.

When it was nearer, they noticed that the bottom parts were brighter than the top.The bottom was yellow and the top was red. Then the object suddenly turned away and left Libya, moving very fast.

On a later day Bardens talked to other people about it,and he found some who had seen it.They all described(描述)it in the same way.Could they all the mistaken?

The UFOs are______.

A.flying high up in the sky       B.strange flying objects

C.difficult to believe            D.very interested

A UFO was seen one night______.

A.when they were walking across a yard to Bardens' room

B.while they were looking at the light

C.when Bardens noticed the moon appearing strange

D.while they were having dinner

The UFO looked like______.

A.smoke                                                          B.light

C.a moving object                                            D.a large plate

When the UFO came nearer to Libya,______.

A.it disappeared all at once

B.it suddenly turned away and left

C.it was watched in the darkness

D.Bardens was looking at it

【小題1】B

【小題2】A

從“some of the reports about them are difficult to believe.” D項(xiàng)正確表達(dá)應(yīng)為“The UFOs are very interesting.”A項(xiàng)說“The UFOs are flying high up in the sky.”

【小題2】從“……and after dinner the two men walked across a yard to his room to look at some papers.Bardens noticed that the moon looked strange that night.” D項(xiàng)內(nèi)容與“……and after dinner……”

從“…Bardens said that he felt eyes looking at him.He was being watched in the darkness.”

Then I fainted (暈倒) at Euro Disney due to low blood pressure. B
Wild animals seem to have escaped the Indian Ocean tsunami (海嘯), adding weight to ideas they possess a “sixth sense” for disasters, experts said on Thursday. Sri Lanka wildlife officials have said the giant waves that killed over 24,000 people along the Indian Ocean Island's coast seemingly missed wild beasts, with no dead animals found.
“No elephants are dead, not even a dead hare or rabbit. I think animals can sense disaster. They have a sixth sense. They know when things are happening,” H. D. Ratnayake, deputy director of Sri Lanka’s Wildlife Department said on Wednesday.
The waves washed floodwaters up to 3 km (2 miles) inland at Yala National Park in the southeast, Sri Lanka's biggest wildlife reserve (自然保護(hù)區(qū)) and home to hundreds of wild elephants. “There has been a lot of evidence about dogs barking or birds migrating before volcanic eruptions or earthquakes. But it has not been proved,” said Matthew van Lierop, an animal behaviour specialist at Johannesburg Zoo. “There have been no specific studies because you can't really test it in a lab or field setting,” he said.
Other authorities agreed with this conclusion. “Wildlife seems to be able to pick up certain phenomenon, especially birds. There are many reports of birds detecting coming disasters,” said Clive Walker, who has written several books on African wildlife.
Animals certainly rely on the known senses such as smell or hearing to avoid danger such as predators(食肉動(dòng)物). The idea of an animal “sixth sense” is a lasting one that the evidence on Sri Lanka's damaged coast is likely to add to. ?
60. This passage is mainly about_______.
A. the damage that was caused in the Indian Ocean tsunami
B. why animals can save themselves from natural disasters
C. how to protect the wildlife when disaster happens
D. the different opinions about animals’ natural power
61. Which of the following is true according to the passage?
A. It has been proved that animals have a sixth sense.
B. Research has been made on the special movements of animals before disasters.
C. It's generally considered that animals can sense the coming of disasters.
D. It can be tested that animals have the known sense to escape from the disasters.
62. What does the term “sixth sense” in the passage mean?
A. It is the natural ability of animals that can't save them from danger.
B. It is the animal's imagination in the brain.
C. It is some hidden power to say in advance that something will happen.
D. It is a kind of sense that is the same as smell or hearing.
63. Which section does the passage most probably appear in a newspaper?
A. Entertainment.     B. Discovery.          C. Future.          D. Culture.
