2.A考查動詞辨析A rolling 滾落;B passing經(jīng)過 ;C dropping下降;D turning 翻轉(zhuǎn)。
根據(jù)“Damn!” he screamed, his face turning red可知怕父親遷怒自己,故選C項。
4.B考查動詞短語辨析A go head繼續(xù);B look out小心;C hold on稍等;D give up放棄; 由于父親沒踩到樓梯,箱子滾下了樓,父親的臉變紅了。
6.B考查介詞辨析A after在。。之后;B without 沒有;C while 當。。時候; D besides 除。。
the rest of the year的意思是這一年剩余的時間。答案為D。。
8.A考查短語辨析A with difficulty有困難,吃力地;B in a hurry 匆忙;C with firm steps堅定的步伐;D in wonder 驚奇;句意:因為父親摔傷了腿,所以走路十分吃力,因為摔了一下所以很吃力地起來,故選A項。。

12.A考查副詞辨析A Finally最后;B Meanwhile與此同時;C Sooner or later遲早;D At the moment那時 根據(jù)上文中所描述的一連串的事可以判斷,最后終于找到了房間,主人公把鑰匙插進了鎖里,故選A項。
13.D考查副詞辨析A yet 然而;B only 只有;C even甚至; still 仍然;這時,父親仍在抱怨著。even強調(diào)作用,“甚至”A表示“轉(zhuǎn)折”;B項表示“僅僅”。答案為D。
14.A考查名詞辨析A worst糟糕;B chair椅子;C best好的;D tea茶;因為開頭就不順利,所以主人公所能期待的只能是更加糟糕的事,故答案為A。
C項to one's surprise作狀語,表“吃驚”。
答案為A。
A turned on 打開;B turned down關(guān)小,拒絕;C played玩;D enjoyed喜歡; 根據(jù)空格后并列的謂語“l(fā)ooked over at Dad”可知,她把音量調(diào)低。
20.B考查名詞辨析A sisters姐妹;B friends朋友;C students學(xué)生;D fellows伙伴;根據(jù)上文描述的,我們與Amy的短暫接觸,以及下方的and my first year of college would be a success,可知我們會成為朋友,故選B項。

A device that stops drivers from falling asleep at the wheel is about to undergo testing at Department of Transport laboratories and could go on sale within 12 months.
The system, called Driver Alert, aims to reduce deadly road accidents by 20% - 40% that are caused by tiredness. Airline pilots can also use it to reduce the 30% of all pilot-error accidents that are related to fatigue.
Driver Alert is based on a computerized wristband (腕套). The device, worn by drivers or pilots, gives out a sound about every four minutes during a car journey. After each sound the driver must respond by squeezing the steering wheel (方向盤). A sensor in the wristband detects this pressing action and measures the time betweenthe sound the driver’s response.
Tiredness is directly related to a driver’s response time. Usually, a watchful driver would take about 400 milliseconds to respond, but once that falls to more than 500 milliseconds, it suggests that the driver is getting sleepy.
In such cases the device gives out more regular and louder sounds, showing that the driver should open a window or stop for a rest. If the driver’s response continues to slow down, the sounds become more frequent until a nonstop alarm warns that the driver must stop as soon as possible.
The device has been delivered to the department’s laboratories for testing. If these tests, scheduled for six months’ time, are successful, the makers will bring the product to market within about a year.

Dear diary,
Here I am in the middle of a city, 350 miles far away from our farmhouse. Do you want to know why we move last week? Dad lost his job, and as mom explained, he was lucky to find other one. His new job meant I had to say goodbye to my classmate, my school or just everything else in the world. To make matters bad, now I have to share a room with my younger sister, Maggie. Tomorrow is first day of school. I am awfully tiring, but I know I’ll never fall sleep. Good night and remember, you, my dear diary, is my only souvenir from my past life and my only friend.
