【答案】Dear Li Wei.
Glad to hear from you. You say you ha\c some problems in overcoming the pressure of exams. Don’t worry. Let me give you some advice.
As a matter of fact, most of us middle school students feel nervous whenever we’re taking an important exam. There is no doubt that exams arc important to us students, but it’s more important to have a right attitude towards them. Therefore, try to study hard every day and make good preparations for exams but don’t worry too much about the results. And I think it s good to go out for a walk or do some outdoor exercise before exams. Besides, having enough sleep can make us full of energy and make it possible for us to perform well in the exam. A hoi bath or a cup of hot milk before going to bed might help you have a sound sleep.
Don’t worry too much about exams and try to relax yourself. I am sure you will do well in the exam. Good luck.
Yours,
Wu Peng
【解析】首先審題,這篇文章要求給同學(xué)李維寫封回信,建議如何克服考試的壓力及緊張情緒。任務(wù)中給出的提示信息包含如下內(nèi)容:1. 告訴他大部分同學(xué)考試前都緊張,要有正確態(tài)度;2. 平時(shí)努力學(xué)習(xí),做好準(zhǔn)備,不要太在意結(jié)果;3. 考前適當(dāng)運(yùn)動(dòng),如散步等;
As a matter of fact事實(shí)上,There is no doubt that毫無疑問。還使用了賓語從句And I think it s good to go out for a walk or do some outdoor exercise before exams.和賓語從句I am sure you will do well in the exam.等多種句式結(jié)構(gòu),增加了文章的可讀性。

【題目】When I was in my third year at university, my roommates were American footballers, so I decided to join them. I remember seeing them in front of me wearing pads (防護(hù)墊), and thinking they were going to kill me. I got tackled (阻截) so hard that I was frightened. But then I realized it was just physical contact. I’ve been addicted since.
The fundamental aim of the game is to score by running with the ball into, or receiving the ball inside the opposition’s end zone. Every player on the field has a set responsibility. I’m a running back. My job is using my speed, strength and skill to carry the ball and keep running until either I score or I get put down. And it does hurt.
I’ve broken two fingers and hurt my shoulder, but the worst was when I trapped the ligaments (韌帶) in the back of my leg. I had to take a year out. But none of that put me off- all I could think was how I was going to come back stronger. Besides training with the team, I now have my gym routine to get fitter, faster and stronger.
Although people think American football is aggressive, there’s much more to it. Every team has its own playbook, outlining everyone’s role in different scenes. My playbook was 73 pages long. Words can’t describe how it feels when it all comes together on the field.
American football has changed my life for the better. I’ve learned time management, how to take responsibility for my action, and how much I treasure being part of a team. Within the four lines of the field, it is physical. Emotions run high. If you’re on the opposing team, you are my enemy. But once the game is done, we’re like a big family.

【題目】The Pacific island nation of Nauru used to be a beautiful place. Now it is an ecological disaster area. Nauru’s heartbreaking story could have one good consequence — other countries might learn from its mistakes.
For thousands of years, Polynesian people lived in the remote island of Nauru, far from western civilization. The first European to arrive was John Fearn in 1798. He was the British captain of the Hunter, a whaling ship. He called the island Pleasant Island.
However, because it was very remote, Nauru had little communication with Europeans at first. The whaling ships and other traders began to visit, bringing guns and alcohol. These elements destroyed the social balance of the twelve family groups on the island. A ten-year civil war started, which reduced the population from 1,400 to 900.
Nauru’s real troubles began in 1899 when a British mining company discovered phosphate (磷酸鹽)on the island. In fact, it found that the island of Nauru was nearly all phosphate, which was a very important fertilizer for farming. The company began mining the phosphate.
A phosphate mine is not a hole in the ground; it is a strip mine(露天礦). When a company strip-mines, it removes the top layer of soil. Then it takes away the material it wants. Strip mining totally destroys the land. Gradually, the lovely island of Nauru started to look like the moon.
In 1968, Nauru became one of the richest countries in the world. Every year the government received millions and millions of dollars for its phosphate.
Unfortunately, the leaders invested the money unwisely and lost millions of dollars. In addition, they used millions more dollars for personal expenses. Soon people realized that they had a terrible problem — their phosphate was running out. Ninety percent of their island was destroyed and they had nothing. By 2000, Nauru was financially ruined. Experts say that it would take approximately $433,600,000 and more than 20 years to repair the island. This will probably never happen.
【1】What was Nauru like before the Europeans came?
A. Rich and powerful
B. Peaceful and attractive
C. Modern and open
D. Greedy and aggressive
【2】The ecological disaster in Nauru resulted from _____________.
A. whale hunting
B. phosphate overmining
C. farming activity
D. soil pollution
【3】What can we learn about Nauru from the last paragraph?
A. The ecological damage is difficult to repair.
B. The leaders will take the experts’ words seriously.
C. The island was abandoned by the Nauruans.
D. The phosphate mines were destroyed.
【4】What might be the author’s purpose in writing the text?
A. To tell a heartbreaking story of a war.
B. To seek help for Nauru’s problems.
C. To show the importance of money.
D. To give a warning to other countries.
