⑴ We all have weaknesses and strengths, no matter who we are. Sometime the weaknesses seem to outweigh the strengths and sometimes it’s the other way around. Some people get sick easily. Some struggle to manage their money properly. Some people are hopeless communicators and struggle with relationships.
(2) Many people accept it as just bad luck, but not everyone. Some people facing huge limitations still manage to achieve surprising things. They rise above their weaknesses and do not allow them to limit their possibilities.
(3) I attended a school prize-giving ceremony not so long ago and the guest speaker was Andrew Becroft, who had a severe stutter (口吃) as a child. Instead of allowing this to limit him, he chose to work hard to overcome it. He is now the Principal Youth Court Judge for New Zealand. Not only did he become successful, but he did so in a profession where he had to speak in front of others regularly.
(4) Lots of people face far more significant limitations than you do. They may be missing limbs or are born into extreme poverty. But no matter what the limitation is, you will always find people who have overcome it. Brett Eastburn has no arms or legs and yet is an inspirational speaker and also a very good wrestler. Ringo Starr, drummer for the Beatles, came from a very poor background. He was constantly plagued with illness as a child and spent large amounts of time in hospital. Mark Inglis lost both of his legs below the knees in a mountaineering accident, but has since climbed Mt Everest.
(5) Most of us will never have to face the challenges these people faced. Yet most of us will never achieve to the degree that these people have either, unless we choose to. If Mark Inglis can climb the highest mountain in the world without legs,___________________?

We all hate speed cameras, don’t we?They’re not there to slow drivers down and lower the road accidents;they just make money for the government. They trick us,cost us cold hard cash, disturb us from driving properly and are unfair.
Well, here’s a surprising thing:what if there were facts that the boring cameras actually saved lives? It’s a conclusion difficult to ignore when you look at what’s happening in France,a country with a historically poor record of road safety.
There were 16,617 road deaths in 1972 in France for example, but that dropped to 8412 by 1995 following rules such as compulsory(強(qiáng)迫的)seat belt wearing in 1990 and a lowering of the blood alcohol limit to 0.05 in 1995.
Last year, the road deaths dropped below 5,000 for the first time,or 4.9 percent less than2004.Comparing road deaths to populating in 2005,that’s about 817 per million people compared with Australia’s 806.
And guess what?Last year the number of speed cameras on French roads reached 1,000 and the government plans to double that within the next three years.
Okey, you know the arguments on the increased traffic safety and cameras. for-inco me, but in seems in France there’s been a major cultural change brought on by radars and other laws. A theer-hour, wine-soaked lunch with a quick rush back to the office is no longer on.
Traveling on the highways,it is rare to see anyone breaking the 130km/h speed limit when one few traveled below it. The speed cameras are clearly signed so drivers know when they are coming There’s even all official web site listing fixed and mobile camera locations and it is updated regularly
Maybe it is because of such transparency by government, rather than the secrecy too often used by authorities in many other countries that more French can enjoy their life thanks to speed cameras

Microsoft founder Bill Gates said that he planned to give away almost all of his fortune(財(cái)富),largely to the cause of global health, during the course of his lifetime. With an estimated(估計(jì))worth of more than $40 billion, according to Forbes, the project will be no small fate(功績(jī)) for Gates.Having already provided the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation with $24 billion to address global health issues,Gates said that finally his entire fortune will be put towards the cause except “a few percent left for the kids”.
So what has made the richest man in the world to channel his resources so heavily into one interest?Gates believes that “the equality of opportunity(機(jī)會(huì))”in which Americans take such pride needs to extend to other nations around the world. Improving the health of the populations,he says, has proven to be an essential method in helping poor countries to be financially successful.“National borders allow inequalities,”said Gates.“We all need to take a more global view, rather than just saying my country is doing well.We have to step up these health issues, knowing how few resources are going into them.”
Gates said that both his parents set up an example for him as a child. His father,William H.Gates, was the head of the local Planned Parenthood, and his mother,Mary, volunteered for the United Way.As he gathered his fortune,Gates knew he would finally want to give back as well, but he didn’t expect to devote himself whole?heartedly to one project until he was about 60.
However,Gates,47,began to question his ability to wait that long.“It seemed there was a real time urgency,”Gates said.“I started to think how many lives I could save before then.”
