Now she's Britain's richest woman - worth $1 billion, according to Forbes magazine - and her seven Potter books have sold more than 335 million copies worldwide.
In an interview with The Associated Press last month, Rowling said she believed she was unlikely to repeat the success of the Potter series, but confirmed she had plans to work on new books.

It was two years ago in winter when I went with my family to Engadine in Switzerland. The journey by car was pleasant until we reached the bottom of the Julier Pass(尤里爾隘口) when it began to snow.

Suddenly, the weather became very bad and soon we found ourselves in a storm. On the top of the pass, the visibility(能見度) was almost zero and we had to guess where the crash barrier(防撞護(hù)欄) was. It was terrible, the snow turned into ice and stuck to the windows despite the heating being set at full blast. Several times I had to get out of the car to clear the ice from the windshield(擋風(fēng)玻璃).

But the way down towards Silvaplana was less stressful and we knew that we would arrive in paradise(樂園). It snowed without interruption the first day of our holidays and not being used to this natural weather, we found it simply magical to watch so much snow falling down on the mountains.

The following day, in this large, amazing area made up of frozen lakes and rivers between white mountains, we discovered a little hut next to the cross-country ski tracks, close to a farm. There was a fridge in this heated wooden cabin that contained milk, cheese and yoghurts for self-service. There was a list of prices for each item. You took what you wanted, then wrote down the total on a notebook what you had taken and put the money into an open box and if necessary took the change.

Where else could you find such trust? As I’ve already told you, Engadine is a paradise.

No doubt the planet is warming. Over the last century, the temperature has risen by around one degree Fahrenheit. It’s reported that the global temperatures will rise  by 3-10 degrees Fahrenheit—enough to have the polar caps almost melted. If the ice caps melt, buildings, homes and even lives will be under water.

While we know about global warming,  what can we do to save the planet? The answer is simpler than supposed. You don’t have to go miles away to protest, or spend much money. Here are several simple steps to begin with.

Firstly, plant a tree.Trees , when fully grown, will keep the plante cooler.

Secondly, reduce pollution. Sometimes as simple as walking instead of taking the car will reduce pollution. Besides stop pollution, you are giving yourself exercise. So whenever you get into your car, just ask yourself, “do I have to make this journey by vehicle?”

When you get a little cold in winter, put a jumper on and don’t adjust the heating. The extra heat produced by homes also affect the planet.

Finally, reduce, reuse and recycle. Only buy what you need and reuse whatever you can, like containers and paper, and recycle what you cannot reuse.

If everyone stuck to these rules, we would be doing a great thing by protecting the Earth. It is our next generation that will feel the effects.
