4.The two flu cases,________occurred a week ago,were caused by H7N9virus.( 。
A.the first of whatB.the first of then
C.the first of whichD.the first of whom

分析 這兩個(gè)禽流感病例是由H7N9病毒引起的,其中第一個(gè)病例發(fā)生在一周之前.

解答 答案:C.
本句的主干為The two flu cases were caused by H7N9virus.其中間部分為非限制性定語(yǔ)從句,先行詞為The two flu cases;結(jié)合句意"其中第一個(gè)病例發(fā)生在一周之前"應(yīng)該是兩者之中的第一個(gè),所以用介詞+關(guān)系代詞引導(dǎo)定語(yǔ)從句,因先行詞指物(病例),A和B項(xiàng)不能引導(dǎo)定語(yǔ)從句;所以用of which;故選C.

點(diǎn)評(píng) 對(duì)于定語(yǔ)從句要分清先行詞,以及從句中所缺少的成分,結(jié)合句意正確選擇關(guān)系詞.

The turning point:The turning point in the story comes while James'foster parents are away in London, and he wonders about the identity of his birth mother. The only clue he has is a fossil,"the snake stone"which she left behind along with a note on which she had written:"Take good care of Sammie. It was written on a torn envelope with parts of an address still there.
The journey:Instead of going to London,James decides to find his birth mother. With help from his geography teacher,James sets out for the remote country village where his mother might be found.James has painful, challenging, but also humorous and happy travels. The mother he finally meets,Anne, has a minor yet powerful voice in the novel. He comes to understand why she left him at a stranger's door fifteen years before.Although the meeting is not long,it leaves him with a feeling of completeness. As a journey of self-discovery The Snake-Stone also provides its readers with a happy ending. Its hero says,on returning to his foster parents,"I was home."

19.The practice of students endlessly copying letters and sentences from a blackboard is a thing of the past.With the coming of new technologies like computers and smartphone,writing by hand has become something of nostalgic (懷舊的)skill.However,while today's educators are using more and more technology in their teaching,many believe basic handwriting skills are still necessary for students to be successful---both in school and in life.
Virginia Berninger, professor of educational psychology at the University of Washington, says it's important to continue teaching handwriting and help children acquire the skill of writing by hand.
Berninger and her colleagues conducted a study that looked at the ability of students to complete various writing tasks---both on a computer and by hand.The study,published in 2009,found that when writing with a pen and paper,participants wrote longer essays and more complete sentences and had a faster word production rate.
In a more recent study,Berninger looked at what role spelling plays in a student's writing skills and found that how well children spell is tied to know well they can write."Spelling makes some of the thinking parts of the brain active which helps us access our vocabulary,word meaning and concepts.It is allowing our written language to connect with ideas."Berninger said.
Spelling helps students translate ideas into words in their mind first and then to transcribe(轉(zhuǎn)換)"those words in the mind written symbols on paper or keyboard and screen,"the study said.Seeing the words in the"mind's eye"helps children not only to turn their ideas into words,says Berninger,but also to spot(發(fā)現(xiàn)) spelling mistakes when they write the words down and to correct then over time.
"In our computer age,some people believe that we don't have to teach spelling because we have spell checks,"she said."But until a child has a functional spelling ability of about a fifth grade level,they won't have the knowledge to choose the correct spelling among the options given by the computer."

46.What makes writing by hand a thing of the past?B.
A.The absence of blackboard in classroom.
B.The use of new technologies in teaching.
C.The lack of practice in handwriting.
D.The popular use of smartphones.
47.Berninger's study published in 2009A.
A.focused on the difference between writing by hand and on a computer.
B.indicated that students prefer to write with a pen and paper.
C.found that good essays are made up of long sentences.
D.discussed the importance of writing speed.
48.Which of the following best shows the role of spelling?B.
A.Spelling improves one's memory of words.
B.Spelling ability is closely related to writing ability.
C.Spelling benefits the translation from words into ideas.

Dear editor,
I am sorry'to learn that some students, especially girls, have been reported to have disconnected or been killed after taking a  taxi. To prevent such happenings,I'd like to offer some suggestions to students in terms of taking a taxi safely.
Firstly, before you get into a taxi, you had better check to see whether it's a licensed taxi or an unlicensed one. It's always safer to take a licensed one, although it might be more expensive. Then, you should look at the plate carefully and try to remember it ( so that the driver can be found out,if anything happens).Thirdly, sit on the seat behind the driver, which is the safest place in the car. Finally, don't bend your head over your mobile phone all the way but keep your eyes on where the driver is going. If you find something wrong, ask the driver to stop the car immediately.
If everyone follows these rules, they won't be taken in easily by bad drivers.
Yours,
Li Jun

Yours,
Li Jun.
