分析 民以食為天,對我們來說,養(yǎng)成健康的飲食習(xí)慣是很重要的.

解答 A F C G E
16.A 概括題.通過該段的幾個(gè)問句,如:Do you eat more when you feel stressed?Do you withhold food from yourself in order to feel like you're in control?
本段建議人們不要忽視早餐,而選項(xiàng)G"Many people do because they don't feel hungry in the morning"正是有的人不吃早餐的原因.

2.When people think of improving their diet,they often talk about eating more fruits and vegetables.Others want to eat more fish and less red meat,in addition to reducing the amount of food they eat.But,they can improve their diets even more with just a simple addition.American researchers have found that a diet rich in spices can help reduce the harmful effects of eating high fat meals.
Pennsylvania State University Associate Professor Shiela West led an investigation of the health effects of a spice-rich diet.Her team knew that a high-fat meal produces high levels of triglycerides(甘油三脂),a kind of fat,in the blood.She said,"If this happens too frequently,or if triglyceride levels are raised too much,your risk of heart disease is increased."
As part of the study,her team prepared meals on two separate days for six men between the ages of 30and 65.The men were overweight,but healthy.The researchers added about 30milliliters of spices to each serving of the test meal,which included chicken curry,Italian herb bread and a cinnamon(肉桂樹皮)biscuit.The meal for the control group was the same,but it did not include any spices.
During the experiment,the researchers removed blood from the men every 30minutes for three hours.They found that antioxidant activity(抗氧化活性) in the blood of the men who ate the spicy meal was 13percent higher than it was for the men who did not.In addition,insulin(胰島素) activity dropped by about 20percent in the men who ate the spicy food.
Shiela West says many scientists think that oxidative stress leads to heart disease.And what exactly is oxidative stress?Think of an apple that has been cut in half and set aside for half an hour or so.The cut side of the apple turns brown.That is a simple explanation of what happens when oxidative stress comes in contact with the inside and outside of our bodies.
Professor West says,"Antioxidants,like spices,may be important in reducing oxidative stress and thus reducing the risk of chronic disease."She adds that the level of spices used in the study provided the same amount of antioxidants found in 150milliliters of red wine or about 38grams of dark chocolate.

D.To cause oxidative stress.

C.The level of triglyceride in their blood was increased.

16.Whether we're 2 years old or 62,our reasons for lying are mostly the same:to get out of trouble, for personal gain and to make ourselves look better in the eyes of others. But a growing body of research is raising questions about how a child's lie is different from an adult's lie,and how the way we deceive changes as we grow.
"Parents and teachers who catch their children lying should not be alarmed.Their children are not going to turn out to be abnormal liars,"says Dr.Lee,a director of the Institute of Child Study. The fact that children tell lies is a sign that they have reached a new developmental stage.Dr.Lee conducted a series of studies in which they bring children into a lab with hidden cameras.Children and young adults aged 2 to 17 are likely to lie while being told not to look at a toy, which is put behind the child's back.
For young kids, the desire to cheat is big and 90% take a secret look in these experiments. When the test-giver returns to the room, the child is asked if he or she looked secretly. At age 2,about a quarter of children will lie and say they didn't.By 3,half of kids will lie,and by 4,that figure is 90%,studies show.
Researchers have found that it's kids with better understanding abilities who lie more. That's because to lie you also have to keep the truth in mind, which includes many brain processes, such as combining several sources of information and faking that information. The ability to lie-and lie successfully-is thought to be related to developme nt of brain regions that allow so called"executive functioning",or higher order thinking and reasoning abilities.Kids who perform better on tests that involve executive functioning also lie more.
