Eat a variety of foods ,especially fruits and vegetables. You may have a favorite food, but the best choice is to eat a variety. If you eat different foods, you are more likely to get the nutrients your body needs. Some foods, such as green vegetables, are more pleasing when you get older. Shoot for five servings of fruits and vegetables a day — two fruits and three vegetables.

Drink water and milk most often. When you’re really thirsty, cold water is the NO.1 choice. Kids need calcium to grow strong bones, and milk is a great source of this mineral. How much do kids need? About 800 milligrams each day if you’re 6 to 8 and 1,300 milligrams if you’re 9 to older .But try to limit sugary drinks, like sodas, juice cocktails, and fruit punches. They contain a lot of added sugar. Sugar just adds calories, not important nutrients.

Listen to your body.

Whatever you eat, moderation6) is most important. What does it feel like to be full? When you're eating, notice how your body feels. Sometimes, people eat too much because they don't notice when they need to stop eating. ___________ can make you feel uncomfortable, and over a period of time, it can lead to unhealthy weight gain.  So remember to feed your body with the right amount of foods all the time. Avoid overeating, especially when you are eating with your friends, in which case it is most likely that overeating will happen.

Limit screen time. What’s screen time? It’s the amount of time you spend watching TV, DVDs, and videos, playing handheld computer games, and using the computer. The more time you spend on these sitting-down activities, the less time available for active activities, like basketball, bike riding, and swimming. Try to spend more than 2 hours a day on screen time.

  Get rid of bad habits.

Getting rid of bad habits like smoking and drinking alcohol is also an important way to keep healthy. Smoking and drinking alcohol injure one's health a great deal, and therefore should be given up. Unfortunately few people follow this advice. It is better to try and give up these things or at least do them less.

Would you eat a ready meal from the fridge rather than cook by yourself? Have you been doing Internet shopping rather than going to the stores? What can't you be bothered to do?

A study into how lazy British people are has found more than half of the adults are so idle (懶散的) that they'd catch the lift rather than climb two flights of stairs.

Just over 2000 people were quizzed by independent researchers at Nuffield Health, Britain's largest health center. The results were extremely surprising.

About one in six people questioned said if their remote control was broken, they would continue watching the same channel rather than get up.

More than one third of those questioned said they would not run to catch a bus. Worryingly, of the 654 respondents with children, 64% said they were often too tired to play with them.

This led the report to conclude that it's no wonder that one in six children in the UK are classified as obese (very fat) before they start school.

Dr Sarah Dauncey, medical director of Nuffield Health, said, “People need to get fitter, not just for their own sake, but for the sake of their families, friends and evidently their pets too.”

“If we don't start to take control of this problem, a whole generation will become too unfit to perform even the most fundamental tasks.”

And Scotland's largest city, Glasgow, was shamed as the most idle city in the UK, with 75% questioned admitting they do not get enough exercise, followed closely by Birmingham and Southampton, both with 67%.

The results bring serious challenges for the National Health Service, where obesity-related illnesses such as heart disease and cancer have been on a steady increase for the past 40 years and are costing billions of pounds every year.

How many people questioned don't play with their children?

       A.1280.                           B.More than 333.

       C.654.                            D.About 420.

The study leads us to believe that      .

A.the pets in the UK will be in trouble if their owners keep their way of life

B.Glasgow people feel ashamed because they don't get enough exercise

C.British people are the laziest around the world

D.five sixths of the British children are healthy

How does the author convince the readers?

A.By presenting the results of a study.       B.By providing answers to questions.

C.By interviewing some experts.                     D.By telling a story.

What is the passage mainly about?

A.A study of British people's laziness.       B. A study of British people's lifestyles.

C.The health service in the UK.                D.The obesity problem in the UK.

Chinese cuisine(菜肴)is widely known and enjoyed in the world. But there is one interesting concept concerning Chinese food which is almost unheard of in the West, and which is becoming increasingly ignored by the youth of the East - the ancient custom of “tonic food.”

Tonic food is food which is consumed to improve one’s well-being, or stave off sickness, particularly at times when one is more likely to fall ill. For instance, it was once the custom for new mothers to eat a sesame-oil hot pot every day for the first month after giving birth. It was believed that this dish would benefit the muscles, reduce pain, improve circulation, stimulate sweating, and warm the body.

In fact, some Western theories of health are similar to the beliefs in Chinese tonic food, although each takes a different path toward the very same goal. Western medicine actually recommends some of the exact same ingredients that make up tonic foods. Sesame oil can provide lots of calories, and chicken meat is particularly high in protein. Any Western doctor should be happy to suggest such a Chinese dish after childbirth.

The elderly, weak, and young can also benefit greatly from tonic foods, especially during the winter. Some foods, such as goat meat and spinach, are seen as “hot,” while others, such as Chinese cabbage and radish, are seen as “cold.” One should be careful not to eat too much of either “hot” or “cold” food. However, how much “hot” or “cold” food one should eat depends on the time of the year, how the food is prepared and what it is prepared with, and the individual’s health.

“Warm” or “cool” tonic foods are strongly recommended. The choices for “warm” and “cool” foods range from simple sea cucumber to the delicacy of bird’s nest soup, depending on the individual’s economic circumstances.

The concept of tonic food is far from losing credibility, either with Westerners or practitioners of modern medicine. For example, up until two years ago, tonic foods were added to the meals served at a renowned hospital.

A major source of teen stress is school exams, and test anxiety is not uncommon. When you recognize your teen is under stress, how can parents help your teen stay calm before an exam?

Help them get organized. 2. Together, you and your teen can work out a time-table in which he can study for what he knows will be on the test.

Provide a calm setting. Help your teen set up a quiet place to study and protect his privacy. Give them a nutritious diet. It’s important for your teen to eat a healthy, balanced diet during exam times to focus and do his best. 3. If this happens, encourage your teen to eat light meals or sandwiches. A healthy diet, rather than junk food, is best for reducing stress.
