Learning experiences happen to us throughout our lives. Not long ago, I had one that I would like to __16__.
I was going to Marblehead with my sailboat team. The team was racing down the highway at 85 mph __17_ we realized we were __18_. Luckily, we saw a rest area ahead. I had a brand-new $20 bill. I was so __19_ because I had never had that kind of cash before. But spending it on __20__ seemed like throwing it away. We all rushed into the pizza line. __21__ I got a pizza and a drink, and walked to my table. About halfway through the meal, I __22_ I had not actually handed any money to the cashier. I had just __23__ out, and nobody had noticed. I felt terrible.
My conscience (良心) opened its mouth and swallowed me in one big bite. I couldn’t __24__ over it. I just couldn’t go back to the cashier and __25__ for my stolen pizza. I was so upset that I __26__ to give myself the pleasure of an ice cream for __27__ that someone would say, “Hey, Jeff, why not you use the change __28__ the pizza instead of that nice, new $20 bill?” I was not so __29__ of my cash now. For the next two years, whenever I was __30__ of the “pizza incident”, I would say to myself, “Don’t think about it…”
I have learned two things from this __31__. Maybe I was a fool for __32__ in to my conscience, and being too stupid to appreciate a __33__ pizza. But the real lesson is that even if you get away with what you have done, your conscience will __34__ up with you.
This reflects the saying, “Coward (懦夫) dies a thousand deaths, a hero dies one.” I was a coward and have felt terrible about that incident at least a thousand times. If I had been a “__35__” and gone back to pay for the pizza, I would have felt a little uncomfortable about it only one, or maybe twice.

小題18:A

但只要將選項(xiàng)還原,我們就會(huì)發(fā)現(xiàn):to say an experience是非常不地道的用法;to talk an experience在語(yǔ)法上也不對(duì)(通常用to talk about sth.),因此可以排除這兩項(xiàng)。
嚴(yán)格地說(shuō),as作連詞時(shí),前后的動(dòng)作在時(shí)間延續(xù)性上要求統(tǒng)一,因此在這里不合適;while后面引出的動(dòng)作應(yīng)該是延續(xù)性的,而非”realize”這樣的瞬時(shí)動(dòng)作;then意思是“然后”,如果用在此處應(yīng)該說(shuō)and then。
小題4:A。
“notice”的確有察覺(jué)到的意思,但通常用于嗅覺(jué)、視覺(jué)、聽(tīng)覺(jué)等感官察覺(jué)到的東西(牛津高階:”notice: to see or hear sb/sth; to become aware of sb./sth.”)。
小題8:A。 如果用”left”,后面不用加out; work out“計(jì)算出”;find out“找出”。
小題9:B。這道題考察了一個(gè)固定搭配”get over sth.”
ask for“請(qǐng)求,要求”,不符文意;apologize for“為…
小題11:A。
皌he change from the pizza”表示“從買(mǎi)批薩那里找來(lái)的零錢(qián)”,from本身就有“從… 選A、C的同學(xué)大概看到change就覺(jué)得change into sth., change for sth.
I was not so pleased by my cash now”. “be pleased by”表示“被…
15:B。sb. be reminded of sth.是remind sb. of sth. 如果用thought,直接說(shuō)”every time when I thought…”就可以了,不應(yīng)該用被動(dòng)I was thought。
小題16:A。
give in to sth.” 因此用give in to。
小題18:A。
我們熟悉的catch up with的意思是“追上、趕上”,但catch up with還有“查出來(lái)并抓獲”的意思。 Make up是彌補(bǔ)的意思,wake up 是醒來(lái)的意思,而put up with是容忍、寬容的意思。
小題20:D。“A coward dies a thousand deaths, a hero dies one”一句中提及了兩種人:coward 和hero.

Not many years ago, a wealthy and rather strange old man named Johnson lived alone in a village in the south of England. He had made a lot of money in trading with foreign countries. When he was seventy—five, he gave £ 12,000 to the village school to buy land and equipment (設(shè)備) for a children’s playground.
As a result of his kindness, many people came to visit him. Among them was a newspaperman. During their talk, Johnson remarked that he was seventy-five and expected to live to be a hundred. The newspaperman asked him how he managed to be healthy at seventy—five. Johnson had a sense of humour (幽默). He liked whisky (威士忌酒) and drank some each day. “I have an injection (注射) in my neck each evening.”he told the newspaperman, thinking of his evening glass of whisky.
The newspaperman did not understand what Johnson meant. In his newspaper he reported that Johnson was seventy—five and had a daily injection in his neck. Within a week Johnson received thousands of letters from all over Britain, asking him for the secret of his daily injection.

At her young age, she can look after her family financially (經(jīng)濟(jì)上) all her life. This year is a big year for Britney. She is now on a 31-day tour of the US and every concert is a sell-out. That means she plays in front of a crowd of around 18,000 people every time. It’s a tiring schedule but brings her a lot. When touring, she goes to bed around 1 a.m. and then has a lie-in until 1 p.m. the next day. Her philosophy (人生觀) is to take care of the body and relax but always make sure you work hard and have fun.
Spears is not pleased with only touring and selling nearly 40 million records so she decided to step into the movie business and try a bit of acting. She made an appearance in “Austin Power 3” this year and she is filming a teenage light play that will come out in March 2003. In this movie, she has a starring role.
For Britney, acting is another way to express herself and she is enthusiastic (熱心的) about it all. If her movies are successful, her money in the bank is sure to grow by another few million dollars but she does it for the love, not the money, as she herself tells the reporters .
