How to Be a Good Tourist
We travel for work but also for fun and learning. New restaurants, galleries, temples and new architecture…These places are homes for people like us who live and work there. How would you want visitors to behave in your own home? Think about it. 【1】 There are many ways of doing this without sacrificing our own holiday.
Do your homework. 【2】 Guides will help you when you get to site, but is that the best place to go? Is it popular only because the one-day tourist can see it easily or because it is really a worthwhile place to visit? You’d better check it out.
【3】 Don’t go to your hotels for meals. Walk around, even if in the streets closest to your hotel. Eat in local restaurants. Talk to the locals. Learn a few in the local language and use them. You will surely get a smile from the hotel staff and street sellers .
Help preserve the sites. Most of the sites you visit may be visited by millions of people a year, so care needs to be taken to allow others to enjoy them as well. Some of these monuments are so old and fragile that they are sensitive to the touch of hands or bags and shows. 【4】 This way, you don’t encourage the use of those plastic bags that fly all over many sites.
And here’s the big one—good manners are nearly universal. 【5】 If that doesn’t sound like you, then
A. Experience the place.
B. Always have a cloth bag with you .
C. Read up on the places you want to visit.
D. Try to buy something from the local stores.
E. A good tourist is polite, positive and eco-sensitive.
F. We’ve cleaned up after ourselves and taken only good memories.
G. If we are good tourists, wherever we go, we try to make it a little better because of our visit.

My mother always bought gifts to me for my birthdays. With my fifteen birthday around the corner, she asked me which I wanted. For the first time, I realize how lucky I was to have born in such a fortunate family. I was satisfying and there was nothing more I needed. That was because I told my mother that instead of getting an expensive gift, I’d love to use the money to help others. At the first, she felt surprised. When she realized I was seriously, she offered me 500 yuan. I bought some toys and went to the orphanage in our city. I handed out the toys to the child and had a good time with them.

Tears are nature's way making us feel comfortable. When our eyes are made uncomfortable by some small pieces of pollution, or when we are cutting onions, or when we are exhausted and “red-eyes” from overwork and late hours, tears from in our eyes to clean and refresh them.
Tears are also a sign of strong emotion. We cry when we are sad and we cry when we are happy.
And tears seem to be uniqueness(唯一)of human. We know that animals also experience emotion—fear, pleasure, loneliness—but they do not shed(流)tears. From this we can conclude that tears are closely related to the emotional and biological makeup of the human species.
Biologically speaking, tears are actually drops of saline fluid, which is a little bit salty, produced by a gland(腺)in the body. Because salt is an important component, tears may actually constitute the most conclusive evidence that the human animals are the end product of a long evolutionary(進化的)process that began in the sea.
And it is clear that, in addition to(除了)the emotional benefits, the shedding of tears has a specific biological function as well. Through tears, we can eliminate from our body certain chemicals which build up in response to stress and cerate a chemical imbalance in the body. Crying actually makes us feel better by correcting that imbalance and making us feel good again. And thus the emotional and the biological functions of tears merge(合并)into one and make us even more “human” than we would otherwise be.

【題目】Why was Bastille important to the citizens of Paris? The building of the Bastille had been started in 1370 under Charles V. By the seventeenth century, it had stopped to be important for defense. Cardinal Richelieu turned it into a prison. It was not an ordinary prison to punish common crimes. Its huge doors closed only on enemies of the King. The Bastille's workings were secret. Prisoners were taken to it in closed vehicles. Soldiers on guard duty had to stand with their faces to the wall. No talking was allowed. Worst of all, a prisoner never knew if he would be there a day, a week, a year, or forever. Only the King's letter could set him free.
Over the years, the number of arrests by King's letter had become fewer. By the time of its fall, most of the prisoners were writers who had written against the corruptions(貪污腐敗) of the government. Voltaire, the famous French writer, spent a year there in 1717-1718, and another 12 days in 1726.
