20.We don't have beds in the space shuttle but we do have sleeping bags.During the day, when we are working,we leave the bags tied to the wall, out of the way.At bedtime we untie them and take them wherever we've chosen to sleep.
On most space shuttle flights everyone sleeps at the same time.No one has to stay awake to watch overthe space-plane; the shuttle's computers and the engineers at Mission Control do that.If anything goes wrong, the computers will ring an alarm and the engineers call us on the radio.
In the space shuttle,sleep-time doesn't mean nighttime.During each ninety-minute orbit the sun"rises"and shines through our windows for about fifty minutes, then it"sets"as our path takes us around the dark side of the Earth. To keep the sun out of our eyes,we wear black sleep masks.
It is surprisingly easy to get comfortable and fall asleep in space.Every astronaut sleeps differently. Some sleep upside down, some sideways, some right side up.When it's time to sleep,I take my bag,my sleep mask, and my tape player with earphones and float up to the flight deck. Then I crawl into the bag,and float in a sitting position just above a seat, right next to a window. Before I pull the mask down over my eyes,I have a rest for a while; listening to music and watching the Earth go by beneath me.

14.As is known to everyone,radiation is a word that can be used to describe nuclear power's danger to health,safety,and even life itself.
Nuclear radiation has a certain mystery about it,partly because it cannot be detected (探測) by human senses.It can't be seen or heard,or touched or tasted,even though it may be all around us.There are other things like that.For example,radio waves are all around us but we can't detect them,sense them,without a radio receiver.Similarly,we can't sense radioactivity without a radiation detector.But unlike common radio waves,nuclear radiation is not harmless to human beings and other living things.
At very high levels,radiation can kill an animal or human being outright by killing masses of cells in important organs.But even the lowest levels can do serious damage.There is no level of radiation that is completely safe.If the radiation does not hit anything important,the damage may not be significant.This is the case when only a few cells are hit,and if they are killed outright,your body will replace the dead cells with healthy ones.But if the few cells are only damaged,and if they reproduce themselves,you may be in trouble.They reproduce themselves in an unusual way.They can grow into cancer.Sometimes this does not show up for many years.
This is another reason for some of the mystery about nuclear radiation.Serious damage can be done without the knowledge of the person at the time that damage has occurred.A person can be irradiated(放射治療) and feel fine,then die of cancer five,ten,or twenty years later as a result.Or a child can be born weak or easy to get serious illness as a result of radiation absorbed by its grandparents.
Radiation can hurt us.We must know the truth.

72.According to the passage,the danger of nuclear power lies inA.
A.nuclear radiation
B.radiation detection
C.radiation level
D.nuclear mystery
73.Radiation can lead to serious results even at the lowest levelD.
A.when it kills few cells
B.unless the damaged cells can reproduce themselves
C.though the damaged cells can repair themselves
D.if it damages few cells
74.Radiation can hurt us in the way that it canD.
A.kill large numbers of cells in main organs so as to cause death immediately
B.damage cells which may grow into cancer years later
C.a(chǎn)ffect the healthy growth of our younger generation
D.lead to all of the above results
75.Which of the following can be best inferred from the passage?B
A.The mystery about radiation remains unsolved.
B.The importance of protection from radiation cannot be overemphasized (過分強調(diào)).
C.Cancer is mainly caused by radiation.
D.Radiation can hurt those who do not know about its danger.

15.These days we are exposed to ads wherever we go.They try to sell us products by using beautiful art,videos,images or slogans that are catchy.Below,you can find some of the most famous logos that you can see everywhere in your life.
Audi
This business logo is very popular and the company is a competitor of BMW.The four rings can be interpreted as many things,like four elements,or four nations,but the truth lies elsewhere.In the 1930s,there were four different car manufacturers in Germany and they were called Audi,DKW,Horch and Wanderer.They decided to get together and create one company:Audi.But they didn't use the logo right away.It took 30years to see the four rings for the first time.
BMW
BMW was founded in Germany in 1916.The business logo of the company is easily recognized by anyone.Nevertheless the true meaning is a bit controversial(有爭議的).According to one side of the story,it represents the propeller(螺旋槳)of an airplane,because BMW used to produce airplanes in Munich.The other story goes that the blue and white triangles(三角形)are taken from the Bavarian(巴伐利亞) flag,which is the place where they were made.It's your choice-you can pick up your favorite story!
Ferrari
The story behind this logo is very interesting.During World War I,an excellent pilot,Count Francesco Barraca,painted a horse,the logo of his spuadron(空軍中隊),on his airplane to bring him luck.But he died in the war.In order to remember him,his mother then convinced Enzo Ferrairi to put the logo on his racing cars in the early 1930s to bring him good luck.The logo has stayed the same ever since.The yellow on the background represents the birthplace of Enzo Farrari,Modena,Italy.
25.When did people first see the Audi logo?D
A.In the 1930s
B.In the 1940s
C.In the 1950s
D.In the 1960s
26.What can we learn about BMW from the third paragraph?C
A.The logo of BMW represents an airplane.
B.It once produced airplanes in Bavaria.
C.The Bavarian flag includes blue and white triangles.
D.Most people prefer the second story.
27.Why did Ferrari use yellow as the logo's background?B
A.In memory of Count Francesco Barraca
B.To show respect for Enzo Ferrari
C.In order to bring good luck to drivers
D.To express his thanks to Count Francesco Barracca's mother.
