Dear Abby,
How are you? Today I’ve got a wonderful news to tell you. I have offered a scholarship at a university in Australia for my further education. One hundred and twenty students took exam for it, but only a few was chosen and I was one of them. However, my parents are not happy about it. They are strong against me going there. They say it is too far away that they will not see me for a whole year and they are afraid of I will feel lonely. They can’t imagine a girl so young live alone. They ask me study in the capital instead. Then I’ll be able to continue living with them. How can I persuade them to accept the fact I have grown up?
Best wishes,
Jane

【2】have offered之間加been 考查語態(tài)。此處指我被提供了一個(gè)獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金,主語I和動(dòng)詞offer是被動(dòng)關(guān)系,用現(xiàn)在完成時(shí)的被動(dòng),故have和offered之間加been。
【4】was→were 考查主謂一致。主語是a few students是復(fù)數(shù),故謂語也要用復(fù)數(shù)形式,故was改為were。
句中修飾謂語動(dòng)詞are against“反對(duì)”,故要用副詞,故strong改為strongly。
【6】too→so 考查固定句型。 以至于……”,故too改為so。
【7】of→that 考查賓語從句。are afraid of后只能加詞組作賓語,而I will feel lonely是賓語從句,根據(jù)從句意思完整,故用that引導(dǎo),故of改為that。
ask sb. to do sth.“讓某人做某事”,故study前加to。
句中fact和后面I have grown up是同位關(guān)系,根據(jù)從句意思完整,故用that引導(dǎo)同位語從句,故fact后加that。

The Coalition for the Homeless is an organization that seeks to address the needs of the homeless population in the United States. It is a network of offices, some of which provide food and houses for the homeless population, and some of which fight for the passing of laws that would give every American the right to a place to call home. According to the Coalition’s studies, of over two hundred million people living in the United States, up to three million are homeless---and number is still growing. Since the late 1970s, fast rising house prices, large cuts in government supported housing programs, and economic recession(經(jīng)濟(jì)衰退)have made it impossible for many Americans to meet housing costs. Sadly, this has resulted in a number of persons being forced to leave their homes and /or unable to find new affordable homes. According to another research, families with children appear to be the fastest –growing part of the homeless population, making up 39% of it. The old idea of a homeless person, that of the single man who gets drunk all the time, is no longer true. A much larger part of the population now finds itself homeless. Even worse, once a person becomes homeless, he often finds it impossible to find a job, since most employers require anyone who wants a job from them to provide a home address on a job application.

BANG!" the door caused a reverberation (回聲). It was just standing there, with father standing on one side, and me on the other side.
We were both in great anger. "Never set foot in this house again!" stormed father. With tears welling up in my eyes, I rushed out of the flat and ran along the street.
The street lights were shining, causing rather sad feelings. I wandered aimlessly.
A young father who held a child in his arms walked past me. I felt as if I saw my childhood from another space: happy and carefree.
But now … I don’t know whether it is because I have grown up or because dad is getting old. We differ in our ways of thinking. We are just like two people coming from two different worlds. It feels like there is an iron door between us that can never be opened.
I wandered the streets, without a destination in mind. My heart was frozen on this hot summer night. As I walked on, there were fewer and fewer people on the streets, until I had only the street lights to keep me company. When I finally reached the high-rise apartment block in which I lived, I saw that the light was still on.
I thought to myself: "Is father waiting for me, or is he still angry with me?"
In fact, it was nothing. Perhaps, dad was throwing away some of his old stamps. Perhaps he thought they were useless. I never had the courage to tell him that I liked collecting stamps.
All the lights were off except father’s.
Dad was always like this. Maybe he didn’t know how to express himself. After shouting at me, he never showed any mercy or any moments of regret.
This was how he always was. He has been a leader for so long that telling everyone else what to do has become his second nature.
The light was still on. "Am I wrong" I whispered, maybe… With the key in my hand, I was as nervous as I had ever been. At last, I decided to open the door. As soon as I opened the door, tears ran down my cheeks. I suddenly realized that the iron door that I had imagined between us did not exist at all. Love—it’s second to none.

A. Perhaps the father was getting older and older.
B. Perhaps the father had been used to doing that.
C. Perhaps the son had already grown up.
D. Perhaps they never agreed with each other.
【3】What was the author’s attitude towards his father at the end of the story?
A. He was frustrated with his father.

C. He was afraid of his father.

A student was one day taking a walk with his teacher. As they went along, they saw a pair of old shoes lying in the path. They were a poor farmer’s, who was working in the nearby field.
The student turned to the teacher, saying: “we will hide his shoes, and hide ourselves behind those trees, and wait to see what he will do.”
“My young friend,” answered the teacher, “we should never make fun of the poor. Why not put a coin in each shoe, and then we will hide ourselves and watch?” The student did so and they both hid themselves behind the trees. The poor man soon finished his work, and came across the field to the path where he had left his coat and shoes.
