Another student,14-year-old Yan Fang from Guangzhou, was afraid of exams. She got very worried in the test, and when she looked at the exam papers, she couldn’t think of anything to write.

Some beach creatures are wonderful -- like dolphins, but others are dangerous. Here are some examples of harmful beach creatures.
Puffer Fish
Puffer Fish, found in all Japanese seas, have very interesting features. They are very easy to catch but must not be eaten because their flesh and organs contain a poison. Anyone who does eat the flesh can become sick very quickly. They may even stop breathing.
The Blue Bottle
The Blue Bottle is found in most Caribbean waters. Blue Bottles float lightly on the surface of the water but their tentacles (觸須) can be as long as 10 metres. Blue Bottles are much less dangerous than some other jellyfish but they can give a swimmer a bad sting (刺) if the swimmer accidentally touches them.
Stingrays
There are many different kinds of stingrays in Mauritius waters. They usually swim and feed on the bottom of the sea. Accidents can happen if people stand on them or try to pick them up. Stingrays have a sting on their tail. These stings have poison on them. If someone is stung the wound can easily become infected.

Many people have contributed to the Olympic Games. At the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, the People’s Republic of China returned to the Games after the 32 years of absence. I am sure the whole of China must have felt very proud when Xu Haifeng won the first gold medal for his country. Deng Yaping, who won four Olympic gold medals in 1992 and 1996 and became an IOC member in 2000, is perhaps the greatest female table tennis player the world has ever seen. At the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, Liu Xiang excited people all over Asia when he became the first Asian to win the gold medal in the men’s 110-meet hurdles. Another superstar I would like to mention is Michael Jordan. At the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, Jordan won his second Olympic gold medal as part of the so-called “Dream Team” of NBA players.

The news was spread only by mouth. And later, people began to write newspapers. But the first newspapers were written by hand and put up on the walls in public places. The first daily newspaper was started in Rome in 59 BC. Europe didn't have regularly published newspapers until 1609, when one was started in Germany. The first regularly published newspaper in English language was printed in Amsterdam in 1620. In the next year, an English newspaper was started in London and was published once a week. The first daily English newspaper was the Daily Courant. It came out in March 1702. In 1609, Benjamin Harris printed the first American newspaper in Boston. But not long after it was first published, the government stopped the paper. Five years later, John Com bell started the Boston newsletter, and the first newspaper was published daily in the American colonies(殖民地). By 1765, the colonies had more than thirty daily newspapers. There are now about 1800 daily papers in the United States. Today, newspapers are published everywhere. To many people, they can't go without reading newspapers for a day. As a group, however, English language newspapers have the largest circulation (銷售量) in the world. But the largest circulation of a newspaper is that of the Japanese newspaper Asihimbun. It sells more than eleven million copies every day. Newspapers are playing an important part in people's life. Title: An introduction to the development of 1. ___
