【題目】More than 30,000 people went to the White House on Monday for the 136th Easter Egg Roll (復(fù)活節(jié)滾彩蛋). President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama held the event by inviting thousands of kids to color and look for eggs. The theme(主題) of the day was “Hop Into Healthy, Swing Into Shape.” It was part of the First Lady’s “Let’s Move!” program to reduce obesity rates (肥胖率) among American kids. Mrs. Obama spoke to young reporters about her goal(目標(biāo)) to get children to eat right and keep moving.
“We are working to make sure that kids born today grow up healthy, learn how to have balanced meals, and get more physical activity into their lives,” she said.
Mrs. Obama said she wants children across the nation to understand that "exercise isn't just hard work, it's play. If you’re running around with your dog, you're getting exercise. If you walk up the stairs, that's exercise, But if you’re sitting in front of the TV or on a computer game, you're not exercising.”
The First Lady said that for kids who have balanced meals most of the time, having a special snack, like chocolate, will not hurt." And if you are active, you can splurge (揮霍) a little more," she said. Mrs. Obama’s favorite "splurge food" is French fries. But she balances her splurging by exercising almost every day. She loves to play tennis and she practices yoga.
“A lot of kids look up to(敬仰) athletes, and I think it's important for athletes to share their good habits,” Mrs. Obama said. "Kids aren’t just going to wake up and be LeBron James. He's practicing and eating right and working out and training. Our athletes can be really good messengers to kids who look up to them--they can say to kids, 'If you really want to be like me, then you really do need to eat your vegetables.’”

【題目】Anger can feel like its eating you up inside as it practically ruins your entire day 【1】 Let's cool it a little shall we?
【2】 Effectively, to constantly water it would mean you've created the habit of anger. You're probably even addicted to it. To stop being so angry, you've to break out of anger. Stop watering the angry seed within, live your life and start planting other seeds!
Anger is not a primary emotion. It's secondary. 【3】 What is it? Fear? Rejection? Sadness? Guilt? It's going to be terrifying, but you've to be honest with yourself and start asking the bigger questions in order to overcome anger.
For every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness. It's only logical. Getting angry is not allowing other positive emotions to come in and that is time and space you'll never get back. And life is way too short to be pissed off(使生氣) all the time. 【4】
Happiness cannot come from hatred or anger. Nobody can say, “Today I am happy because this morning I was angry.” 【5】 They can say “Today I am not very happy, because I lost my temper this morning.” This is so straight-forward. Anger in the end, cannot sustain(維持) you. It can perhaps propel you with energy, but if you use it to create more anger, then happiness will never come to you.
A. On the contrary, people feel uneasy and sad.
B. You’re responsible for your anger.
C. You’ve found the root cause of your anger.
D. People will find a way to make you angry.
E. while filling your head with a bunch of angry, negative thoughts.
F. and it states how easy it is to be angry.
G. You're going to die eventually, so be smart about it!

I was sitting at my favorite table in a restaurant on last Sunday waiting for the food I had ordered to arrive. I suddenly found that Lin Ling, one of my classmate, worked as a waitress there. Honest speaking, it was great surprise for me to find her working there. As far as I know, she’s from a richer family. What made her work there? I walked up to her but asked her the reason. When asking, she said, “I just want to earn some pocket money so that we can help some children in poor areas go back to school.” How a good girl! I should learn from her.

【題目】No country in the world has more daily newspapers than the US. There are almost 2,000 of them, as compared with 180 in Japan, 164 in Argentina and 111 in Britain. The quality of some American papers is extremely high and their views are quoted all over the world. Famous dailies like the Washington Post or the New York Times have a powerful influence all over the country. However, they are not national newspapers in the sense that The Times is in Britain or Le Monde is in France, since each American city has its own daily newspaper. The best of these presents detailed description of national and international news, but many tend to limit themselves to state or city news.
Like the press in most other countries, American newspapers range from the “sensational” which feature crime and gossip (閑談), to the “serious”, which focus on factual news and the analysis of world events. But with few exceptions, American newspapers try to entertain as well as give information, for they have to compete with the attraction of television.
Just as American newspapers satisfy all tastes, so do they also try to attract readers of all political parties. A few newspapers support extremist (極端主義的) groups on the far right and on the far left, but most daily newspapers try to attract middle-of-the-road Americans who are moderate (中立的). Many of these papers print columns by well-known journalists of different political and social views, in order to present a balanced picture.
As in other countries, American newspapers can be either responsible or irresponsible, but it is generally accepted that the American press serves its country well and that it has more than once courageously exposed political scandals (丑聞) or crimes, for instance, the Watergate Affair (水門事件). The newspapers drew the attention of the public to the horrors of the Vietnam War.
【1】There are fewer national newspapers in .
A. the US than in Britain or France
B. France than in the US or Britain
C. Britain than in the US
D. France than in Britain
【2】Why do most American newspapers try hard to entertain their readers?
A. Because they have to give factual news in an interesting way.
B. Because they have to keep up a good relation with them.
C. Because they have to write about crime and gossip.
D. Because they have to compete with television.
【3】How do many American newspapers attract readers of different political preference?
A. By avoiding carrying articles about extremists.
B. By supporting extremist groups from time to time.
C. By printing articles representing different political viewpoints.
D. By inviting middle-of-the-road Americans to write articles for them.
【4】The passage is mainly about .
A. the advantages and disadvantages of American newspapers
B. the characteristics of American newspapers
C. the development of American newspapers
D. the functions of American newspapers
