10.
A.The benefit of Smart Grid technology to daily life
B.Background for the emerging of Smart Grid technology
C.The side-effects Smart Grid technology causes
D.People's attitudes towards Smart Grid technology
E.The supporting system of Smart Grid technology
F.The challenges Smart Grid technology meet with
76.B
There are increasing fears of global warming.Consequently,many countries are focusing on the switch to a low carbon economy.This shift will lead to major changes in the supply and use of electricity.To meet these challenges,countries are investing in Smart Grid (智能電網(wǎng)) technology.This system aims to provide the electricity industry with a better understanding of power generation and demand to create a more efficient power network.
77.E
Smart Grid technology basically involves the application of a computer system to the electricity network.The computer system can be used to collect information about supply and demand and improve engineer's ability to manage the system.With better information about electricity demand,the network will be able to increase the amount of electricity delivered per unit generated,leading to potential reductions in fuel needs and carbon emissions (排放).
78.A
Smart Grid technology is profitable to consumers too.They will be able to collect real-time information on their energy use for each appliance.Varying tariffs (收費標準) throughout the day will give customers the motivation to use appliances at times when supply greatly exceeds (超過) demand,leading to great reductions in bills.
79.F
With these changes comes a range of things to be overcome.The first involves managing the supply and demand.Sources of renewable energy,such as wind,wave and solar,are unpredictable,and nuclear power,which is also set to increase as nations switch to alternative energy sources,is inflexible.A second problem is the fact that many renewable power generation sources are located in remote areas,such as windy uplands and coastal regions.
80.D
Although Smart Technology is still in its infancy,experimental plans to promote and test it are already underway.Consumers are currently testing the new smart meters which can be used in their homes to manage electricity use.Cities are investing money into smart energy,due to the high population density and high energy use.It is here where Smart Technology is likely to be promoted first,making use of a range of sustainable (可持續(xù)的) power sources,transport solutions.

分析 本文重點介紹了一種新型科技---智能電網(wǎng)技術(shù),以及給人們所帶來的益處還有面臨的挑戰(zhàn).

17.Victor Hugo's great work Les Misérables has carried its success into the 21st century with its recent film adaptation,which is well received with both audiences and critics,winning three Academy Awards,including Best Supporting Actress for Anne Hathaway,and making the original book a hot pick among bookworms.
Victor Hugo published Les Misérables in 1862,at a time when France was going through a revolution(革命).Its popularity is partly due to the fact that Hugo managed to humanize(人性化) the great struggles of the age.He lets us see,hear and smell the sights and sounds of human beings at that time.Hugo creates a vivid picture,and the characters seem far more real under the master's pen.From his descriptions,readers can feel the characters'pain and sense of hopelessness.Jean Valjean's life is changed by an act of forgiveness,love and sacrifice.Fantine,another pitiful character sells her hair,teeth and even herself for her daughter,Cosette,whom she can't even see at her death.However,the sad world is lighted by the shining humanity and love that will win over any evil shines through the work.
The story is set in the early 19th century in France.Jean Valjean has just spent nineteen years in prison for stealing a piece of bread to feed his hungry sister.After being let go from prison,Valjean can't get a job because no one is willing to employ a former criminal(罪犯).So Valjean turns to a priest for help.He repays the priest by stealing from him.However,the priest lets him off and doesn't report it to the police.Unfortunately after leaving the church he steals some money from a child,but soon regrets his crime.The police are searching for him because of the crime.A policeman called Javert starts to follow him,who guesses who Valjean is and wants to catch him and send him back to prison.What follows is a long game of cat and mouse.Valjean changes his name to Madelaine and starts a new life and later becomes mayor of a town.
Another major storyline of the book concerns Cosette.Her mother Fantine becomes pregnant with her by a wealthy student who abandons(拋棄) her.Therefore begins a sad period in which Fantine has to leave Cosette to cruel guardians (監(jiān)護人).She herself goes to work in Valjean's factory,but loses her job when it is discovered that she has a daughter outside marriage.Valjean tries to help Fantine,but at this point in the story,the policeman named Javert arrives.Valjean ends up back in jail.Fantine dies in a state of shock.
Upon escaping again from prison,Valjean takes over the responsibility of raising Cosette.He saves her from her cruel guardians,who treat her terribly.From this point the fates of Valjean and Cosette are connected with each other.The young Cosette finds true love in Marius,a student who wants to bring freedom and equality to France.But Valjean is against Cosette's relationship with Marius,so he moves away with her.When Marius and his comrades start an uprising(起義),the young man is injured but Valjean saves him from the fight.Cosette marries the young man she loves.Javert ends up killing himself in River Seine,feeling guilty and touched by Valjean's kindness.
Pick this much-loved and everlasting classic and get a taste of the timelessness of Victor Hugo.

15.For a long time,the traditional method of identifying liars was to watch their body language,including facial expressions.
What if the person appears to be nervous?Is the person unable to look me in the eye?Is he or she look around the room?What about other nervous movements,such as fidgeting(坐立不安)or shifting from side to side?Many people-from parents to police officers and airport security personnel-depend on this method.But does a person's body and face reveal the truth?Not according to a new study.
Talking,it seems,is the best way to smoke out a liar.That is what researchers in the United Kingdom found out recently.Their investigation took place at one place where lying can get you into big trouble-an airport.
The researchers asked volunteers to pretend they were real passengers and then lie to airport security agents.Some of the agents used spoke conversation-based methods to question these make-believe passengers.Others depended instead on the person's body language,like lack of eye contact and showing signs of nervousness.The agents talking with the passengers were 20times more likely to catch the liars.The study found that these conversation-based techniques can help you recognize when a person is lying to you.Like many methods,this conversation method has a name.It is called Controlled Cognitive Engagement or CCE,for short.
The British government partly financed this study.The American Psychological (APA) published the findings.Body language cannot be trusted.Using body language and facial expressions to catch someone in a lie is really hard.And it only works,seemingly,by chance.
Thomas Ormerod is the head of the School of Psychology at the University of Sussex in England.On the APA website,he reported that the"suspicious-signs method"-or using body language-"almost completely fails"in finding lies.

24.What are the questions in Paragraph 2intended to do?A.
A.Show traditional ways to recognize a liar.
B.Launch a survey among readers.
C.Show the writer's puzzlement.
D.Invite the readers to think twice.
25.What should volunteers in the investigation do?C.
A.Answer questions only using words.
B.Pretend to be airport security agents.
C.Act as passengers as researchers required.
D.Communicate with researchers by talking.
26.Which would be the best way to find out a liar according to the study?B.
A.Looking him in the eye.
B.Asking open-ended questions.
C.Making use of body language.
D.Observing his facial expression.
27.What will the author continue to talk about based on the passage?B.
A.Misunderstandings of catching a liar.
B.The"suspicious-signs"method.
C.How the CCE method works.
D.The new concept of CCE.

2.There are three separate sources of danger in supplying energy by unclear power.
First,the radioactive material must travel from its place of production to the power station.Although the power stations themselves are strongly built,the containers used for the transport of the materials are not.Normally,only two methods of transport are in use,namely road or rail.Unfortunately,both of these may have an effect on the general public,since they are sure to pass near,or even through,heavily populated areas.
Second,there is the problem of waste.All nuclear power stations produce wastes that in most cases will remain radioactive for thousands of years.It is impossible to make these wastes nonradioactive,and so they must be stored in one of the inconvenient ways that scientists have invented.For example,they may be buried under the ground,or dropped into deserted mines,or sunk in the sea.However,these methods do not solve the problem,since an earthquake could easily break the containers.
Third,there may occur the danger of a leak or an explosion at the power station.As with the other two dangers,this is not very likely,so it does not provide a serious objection to the nuclear program.However,it can happen.
Separately,these three types of dangers are not a great cause for worry.Taken together,though,the probability of disaster is extremely high.

56.The author thinks that the ways to store nuclear wastes areB.
A.easy   B.ineffective   C.reasonable   D.impossible
57.What do we learn from the last paragraph?A
A.By itself,none of the three dangers is likely to cause worry.
B.The dangers of nuclear energy can certainly be avoided.
C.The general public are strongly against the nuclear program.
D.The power station itself is a very safe place.
58.What is this passage about?C
A.Uses of nuclear power.      B.Public anger at nuclear power.
C.Dangers from nuclear power. D.Accidents caused by nuclear power.

19.Air pollution is a leading cause of cancer and classified among top human carcinogens (致癌物質(zhì)),said the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC),which is the World Health Organization's (WHO) cancer agency,on Oct 17,2013."Our task was to evaluate the air everyone breathes rather than focus on specific air pollutants,"the IARC's Dana Loomis said in a statement."The results from the reviewed studies point in the same direction the risk of developing lung cancer is significantly increased in people exposed to air pollution."
In 2010,lung cancer resulting from air pollution killed 223,000 people worldwide, and there was also convincing evidence that it increases the risk of bladder (膀胱) cancer.Loomis said people in Asia,Eastern North America, some places in Central America and Mexico,as well as North Africa have relatively high exposure(暴露).Developing countries with large populations and booming manufacturing sectors, such as China, are particularly at risk. This week,Harbin, the capital city of Heilongjiang province, became the first Chinese city to officially suspendclasses due to serious smog, really good for teachers and students.
Many developed countries face similar problems, although to a lesser(較少的、次要的) degree than most developing nations.Between 91 and 96 percent of Europeans living in cities are exposed to levels of PM2.5-tiny particles with a diameter of less than 2.5 micrometers-that are higher than the WHO safety limits.
Although both the composition and levels of air pollution can vary dramatically from one location to the other, the IARC said its conclusions apply to all areas of the world."Given the scale of the exposure affecting people worldwide, this report should send a strong signal to the international community to take action without further delay,"said Christopher Wild, director of the IARC.
60.What's the main task of IARC?B
A.To focus on cancer-causing substances.
B.To evaluate the air quality.
C.To study the developing risk of cancer.
D.To send signals to the international community.
61.The underlined word"suspend"in Paragraph 2 probably meansC.
A.a(chǎn)ccelerate         B.a(chǎn)cknowledge            C.delay           D.decline
62.Why should the international community take action without further delay?A
A.A large number of people worldwide are exposed to air pollution.
B.More and more people in developing countries are exposed to air pollution.
C.Developed countries face air pollution, the level of which is higher than the safety limits.
D.The composition and levels of air pollution vary from place to place.
63.What might be the best title of the passage?D
A.PM2.5,bad effect.
B.Safety limits of air pollution.
C.Signals of air pollution.
D.Air pollution,cancer risk.

20.A Swedish man was dug out alive after being snowed in his car on a forest track for two months with no food, police and local media reported on Saturday.
The 45-year-old from southern Sweden was found on Friday,F(xiàn)ebruary17,too weak to say more than a few words.
He was found not far from the city of Umea in the north of Sweden by snowmobilers who thought they had come across a ruined car until they dug their way to a window and saw movement inside.
The man,who was lying in the back seat in a sleeping bag, said he had been in the car since December 19.
"Just incredible that he's alive considering that he had no food, but also since it's been really cold for some time after Christmas,"a rescue team member told regional daily Vasterbottens-Kuriren,which broke the news.Ebbe Nyberg, duty officer at the Umea police, said police saw no reason to doubt that the man had been stuck in the car for a very long time.
"We would not make up something like this. The rescue services were on site too and saw the same as us."he told Vasterbottens-Kuriren.Umea University Hospital, where the man is recovering after being rescued by police and a rescue team, said in a statement he was doing well considering the circumstances.
Doctors at the hospital said humans would normally be able to survive for about four weeks without food.Besides eating snow, the man probably survived by going into a dormant-like(休眠似的) state, physician Stefan Branth told Vasterbottens-Kuriren.
"A bit like a bear that hibernates.Humans can do that."he said."He probably had a body temperature of around 31 degrees which the body adjusted to.Due to the low temperature, not much energy was used up."
"Why the man ended up under the snow in the forest remains unknown,"police said.
