Vegetarians and vegans
Vegetarians (people who don't eat meat) and vegans (people who don't eat or use any animal products) are becoming increasingly common in UK culture.(31)D A recent survey showed that three million people were vegetarian.Visit a British supermarket and you will see a wide range of vegetarian ingredients and prepared meals on the shelves,including vegetarian sausages and vegan cheese.
(32)A
So why are Brits cutting out meat?Many are unhappy about the poor treatment of animals and the effects of meat and fish production on the environment.Worries about food safety (for example BES or"mad cow disease") also play a part.(33)F According to the Vegetarian Society,a meat-free diet could help reduce the risk of certain cancers and heart disease,as well as obesity and high blood pressure.
Organic(有機的) farming
Another rising trend is in how UK food is produced.Many people are rejecting GM (genetically modified) food and intensive farming practices.They want their food to be organically produced.Organic farmers use very few or no chemicals,pesticides or fertilisers and organic meat is produced without the use of drugs and antibiotics. (34)G
Organic food
According to the Soil Association,three out of every four UK households now buy some type of organic food.Some get organic meat,fruit and vegetables from farmers'markets,where products are sold directly to the consumer.Others have a box of organic fruit and vegetables sent to their homes every week.(35)C Although it's often more expensive,fans of organic food say it tastes much better!

A.A healthy diet
B.A balanced diet
C.Many people buy organic products in their local supermarket.
D.More and more people are deciding not to eat meat or use animal products.
E.A healthy soil reduces disease and helps crops grow strong and healthy.
F.Others choose to change their eating habits to improve their general health.
G.Organically farmed animals also have more living space and more nutritious food.

解答 D A F G C
A recent survey showed that three million people were vegetarian.
So why are Brits cutting out meat? 故選A.
According to the Vegetarian Society,a meat-free diet could help reduce the risk of certain cancers and heart disease,as well as obesity and high blood pressure.
Organic farmers use very few or no chemicals, pesticides or fertilisers and organic meat is produced without the use of drugs and antibiotics.
Although it's often more expensive, fans of organic food say it tastes much better!

點評 做七選五題目時要注意以下規(guī)則:1.放進去通順,這一點是基礎(chǔ).凡不通順的必錯無疑;2、選項中有單詞、詞組、句子成分或與所選答案所在段內(nèi)容重合;

2.TOKYO,Oct.12 (Xinhua)--The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has downgraded the forecast for global economic growth for 2012to 3.3percent before the IMF-World Bank 2012annual meetings.The IMF called on all players to cooperate closely to improve the global economy as the global economy recovered more slowly than the IMF's forecast in April due to many uncertainties.
"In advanced countries,growth is now too low to make a substantial dent in unemployment,and in major emerging countries,growth which had been strong earlier has also decreased."said the IMF Chief Economist Olivier Blanchard at the press conference.
Good effects have been observed with right action taken by some central banks in the euro area,and IMF received the good signals and considered them a good opportunity to seize as many uncertainties,in every corner of the world,preventing the decision makers from investing,creating jobs and developing values.The IMF suggested if the measures continued working effectively,there is reason to believe the most difficult time for Europe will pass soon,the recovery will begin in 2013.
Looking into the future,IMF suggested there are four key policies for all members to do to make the economy keep going forward.
Firstly,continue to complete the financial sector reform contributing to the safety of the financial sector,as the safety has not improved much yet than five years ago.And then,countries should deal with the legacy(遺留) of high debt,especially in the advanced economies,which have extremely high level.Policy makers also need to expand the employment on creating the condition for economic growth,because the jobless rate among young people is unacceptable.Finally,all members of IMF should face the global unbalance,which is the topic that has been talked about for a long time.
Christine Lagarde,IMF Managing Director, said the annual meetings of IMF could provide a broad platform for players, both new ones from the emerging market and traditional ones from the advanced market, and cooperation is the thing most needed, because the global economy is a cooperative game.
Title IMF appeals for close (81)cooperationto improve global economy.
ReasonGlobal economic recovery is (82)slower/weakerthan expected because of many uncertainties.
(83)Effectsof action taken1.The IMF received good signals,which were (84)considereda good opportunity to seize as many uncertainties around the world.
2.The IMF has seen the (85)effectivemeasurers being taken in Europe,which show great promise of recovery.
(86)Policiesto adopt1.All countries should continue to complete the financial reform
(87)makingthe financial sector safer.
2.Countries should (88)handlethe legacy of high debt,especially in the extremely high-leveled advanced economies.
3.Policy makers need to create the condition for economic growth,so that more young people can become (89)employed.
4.All members should face the topic of global unbalance.
(90)ConclusionThe annual meetings of IMF could provide a platform for all players where cooperation is most needed in improving the global economy.
