Almost every Chinese person can recite the two lines of the famous poem. “Every grain on the plate comes from hard work. (誰知盤中餐，粒粒皆辛苦。)” But sadly, many of us don't actually get the real meaning of these lines: Don't waste food.

A CCTV programme, News One Plus One, reported that food Chinese people throw away every year is enough to feed 200 million people for a year.

Do we have too much food? No. According to the UN World Food Programme, there were 925 million hungry people around the world in 2010, especially in developing countries. Six million children die of hunger every year.

Chinese people are well known for being generous (慷慨的). Many even feel that they lose face if their guests have eaten all the food on the table.

Luckily, a number of people have realised the importance of saving food. Last November, Li Hong, a waitress in a restaurant in Nanjing, got fired (開除) because she took some leftover (剩余的) food home for her son. Many people stood by her side and agreed that it was not right to waste food.

What should we do in our daily lives to waste less food? Here are some tips：

Tibetan Antelopes

Tibetan antelopes（藏羚羊）are medium-sized animals．They mainly feed on grass．They are usually found in groups of about 20．They are killed for their wool，which is warm，soft and fine and can be made into expensive clothes．Although people can get the wool without killing the animals，people simply kill them before taking the woo1．The number of them is dropping year by year．There are less than 75，000 Tibetan antelopes left in the wild，down from a million 50 years ago．

Golden Monkeys

Golden monkeys are mainly found in Sichuan，Gansu，Shanxi province and Shennongjia mountainous area of Hubei Province．Golden monkeys have golden—orange fur．They move around in the daytime，usually in groups of as many as l00 to 200 heads，or 20 to 30 heads．They feed on fruits and young leaves of bamboos．But people are destroying the environment where they live．Trees and bamboos are disappearin9，so golden monkeys have less and less to eat．

Elephants

Elephants are very big and strong．They are bigger than any other animal on land．They are grey and have long trunks and tusks．They have-poor eyesight，but very good hearing and smell．They can lift heavy things and break down branches．They do not leave the group until they are about l2 years old．Now，there are very few elephants in the orld．The number of them is becoming smaller because their living areas are used for farming．Also，people hunt them for their tusks．

Wolves

One of the first sightings upon entering the park which I found was a huge group of elephants．Our guide told us that Tagrangire was probably the best place in Tanzania to find large group of elephants, and that their population in the park was around 2,500．We continued to watch the elephants as they stood under trees and scratched themselves against the trees to hit the spot of an itch.

To the right of the elephant group, we noticed a big tree! Our guide informed us that this was a Baobab tree and that they could live for hundreds of years．Compared with this tree, the elephant just looked like dwarfs (much smaller plants or animals)! We were informed that Tarangire was one of the best National Parks in Africa to see so many Baobab trees．

As we continued our drive through the park, we finally reached a watering hole．Our guide warned us that there were lions all around us．It took us all a while to find them, but there they were! Most of them are resting in the shade under bushes, but there was one that was drinking from the watering hole directly in front of us．We then noticed just to our right, there were a couple of fresh zebra bodies — it seemed as if the lions which were resting had killed them! We were unlucky not to have seen the kill, as our guide had mentioned that the zebra bodies were fresh and the kill had happened within the last hour．

Our final big sighting was one that none of us were expecting to see, even our guide! We stopped at a place where there were quite a many cars, with a sleeping leopard（美洲豹）there! We took photos and watched its surprising body before returning to our hotel as it was getting late．
