【題目】閱讀下面的短文,并根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容回答所提問(wèn)題。

Antarctica(南極洲)is the coldest place on the earth, but every year thousands of tourists go there. Why do they go? There are no famous buildings, no hotels and no restaurants. There are some beaches, but nobody wants to go swimming. Why do people want to take a vacation in Antarctica?

Most people go to see the birds, the animals and the amazing scenery. There are seals(海豹)lying on the ice. There are whales swimming in the ocean. You can also watch penguins jumping into water from icebergs(冰山). It’s one of the last untouched places on the planet.

It’s possible to visit Antarctica by plane, but most people go there by ship. That’s because the ships are comfortable places to stay, and the journey (by sea) is part of the vacation. All tourists visit Antarctica in the summer. In the winter it’s too cold for visitors, but in the summerfrom November to Marchit’s warmer than many people think. In some parts of Antarctica in January, it’s about 0℃. So it can be warmer there than it is in Beijing in January. When you visit there, you don’t need to bring a lot of special clothes. Instead, you need to bring sunglasses. The sunshine on the snow and ice is very bright.

Tourists are not the only people who go to Antarctica. In the summer months there are about 4,000 scientists and other people living and working there, and a few of them stay for the long, drink winters. Tourists can visit some of these people and learn about their work in this amazing place.

Huang discovered her love for mountain climbing when her son went to university. She climbed her first Munro, Beinn Narnain in July 2015 and completed her final one, Meall Chuaich on November 18, 2017.

“What I enjoyed the most about these walks is when you reach the top,” she said. “ ... you forget all the worries at work, your life, and just don’t think about anything at all...”

I was 23 before my first novel appeared in the bookshops. It had been a challenge to find a publisher who would even look at it. As soon as they heard that it was about teenagers and their problems, they just weren’t interested.

_____ one of them read it and loved the way I try to show the funny side of any difficult situation. I’m quite____ teenagers now, and some even say hello when they see me in the street.

I’m not sure where my stories come from—that’s like asking people to tell you where their dreams come from. Some writers get ____ from other writers’ work they’ve read, but I keep a notebook and I put down interesting things I notice wherever I go. Those things come into my stories.

I write full time now and I love it, but it’s hard work. I write everything out by hand, and after I’ve corrected it, I type it on my computer. I’m OK at ____ and I’ve done some pictures for my books, but one day I met a professional artist, John Brookes, who now does most of them and they’re a great improvement on my efforts.

Recently one of my books was made into a film, which was an exciting experience. I didn’t write the dialogue between the characters—other writers did that very well. I visited while they were filming and I sometimes feel like____ improvement, but in the end I just let them do what they wanted. I must say I was pleased with the book they chose to film, but thought it was a _____ they made so many changes to the story.
