Once upon a time there was a little prince. He was so spoilt(寵壞的) that he wouldn’ t let anybody have a new toy if he didn't have one first.

①The prince invited him to spend a year in the palace(宮殿), asking the toymaker to make him a new toy every day. The toymaker said, "My toys are very special. They

need an owner to play with them. Will you spend a little time with each one every day?” “Of course, I will, the prince replied.

From then on, every morning the prince received a new toy. The prince appeared very happy. But the toy collection kept growing. Soon there were too many toys for him to play with. The prince couldn’t get to sleep until midnight, because he had to play with each toy. He was so tired and sleepy. And he hardly had time to enjoy playing. Even worse, the toys were getting angry because he spent less time playing with them.

One day, the prince saw some children playing outside the palace. ② When they finished playing, they could take home the toys they liked the most.

At the end of the year, all the toys were shared out and the palace turned into the best playroom.
