MONEY-SAVING TIPS FOR DISNEY WORLD

Every time you visit Disney World, there’s something new to see. The Magic Kingdom (王國) now includes the high-tech, movie-made Disney and Animal Kingdom. The park is becoming bigger, and you may need to spend more money, too. How can you save? I’ve been to the park more than 25 times with my kids, and I’ve found a few money-saving tips for you.

Eat out at Lunchtime: The prices at some of the nicer restaurants are much lower at noontime than at any other time. It’s clever to make reservations (預(yù)定) before you leave home. Call 407-W-DISNEY.

Become a Gold Card Member: With $65, you can get a Magic Kingdom Club Gold Card (call 1-800-56-DISNEY). Cardholders get up to 20% off Disney hotel rooms, theme park tickets and things from Disney stores.

Don’t Pay Extra (額外) to See a Character: Character-theme dinner shows are expensive, costing a family of four about $140, and even a character breakfast can set you back $50. Try to meet the characters inside the theme parks and at free in-park shows.

Wait until the End of Your Trip to Buy Souvenirs: At that time, the kids will really know what they want, and you won’t waste money on expensive things.

1.What is Animal Kingdom?

A. A part of the Magic Kingdom. B. The Disneyland.

C. A place for eating. D. A kingdom with a Disneyland.

2.If a Disney hotel room costs $400 a night, then a Gold Card Member needs to pay at least for a night.

A. $65 B. $320 C. $183 D. $229

3.Which of the following is closest in meaning to the underlined phrase “set you back”?

A. Offer you. B. Save you. C. Cost you. D. Return you.

4.If you don’t have enough money, the writer suggests you should NOT .

A. buy things for the kids from Disney stores B. buy souvenirs at the beginning of the trip

C. become a Gold Card Member D. have your meals out at noontime

5.The writer of the passage must be a(n) .

A. guide in Disney World B. character in a theme park

C. newcomer to Disney World D. experienced visitor

Are you surprised to see one or two twins in your class? What about 28 sets of them?

Andover High School in Minnesota, USA, has applied for (申請) the Guinness Book of World Records (吉尼斯世界紀(jì)錄大全), because it has 28 sets of twins among its students.

“Having 28 sets of twins at any school is really uncommon,” said Dr. Nancy Segal, a twins researcher (研究者) at the University of Minnesota. “There is no good explanation (解釋)…. Maybe their parents eat well.”

Peyton Zapzalka, one of the twin sisters, said the twin students had their own way of life. “We think nothing of finishing each other’s words,” she said.

Brent and Nathan Strong are another pair of twins. The brothers have already won something. They were given two tickets by a school to a twins game this year. Brent and Nathan will go to university on baseball scholarship (獎(jiǎng)金)。

“Brent and Nathan’s Mom is our little sister’s fifth-grade teacher,” said Peyton Zapzalka. “We’re all connected (聯(lián)系), one way or another.”

One example: the Zapzalkas were born on July 22, 1994—the same day their twin classmates Matt and Mike Schultz were born—in the same hospital.

A. Many students in it go to university on baseball scholarships.

B. There are 28 sets of twins there.

C. It can’t go into the Guinness Book of World Records.

D. It is a special school that does research on twins.

A. He doesn’t think there is anything uncommon.

B. At least, one of their parents is a twin.

C. There is no clear reason why it is this way.

D. Their parents eat the best food.

3.When Peyton Zapzalka said “We think nothing of finishing each other’s words,” she meant ________.

A. twins had their own way of life

B. twins could understand each other well

C. twins couldn’t finish each other’s sentences

D. Twins could finish nothing of each other’s sentences

4.What does Brent’s mother do?
