Swans (天鵝) at first didn’t have long necks but they had beautiful feathers. The ducks at that time were ugly. The swans wouldn't let the ducks swim with them. This made the ducks angry because they all lived near a pond (池塘) .
One day while the swans and ducks were arguing about which group would swim first, some geese came. They listened and thought they should share the pond because it was very large. The swans were angry about this.So there was a fight.
The ducks were pulling at the swans ’feet, and the geese were biting the swans’ necks. All of them pulled as hard as they could.
About an hour later the fight was over. The ducks and geese looked at the swans and laughed. The swans’ necks became too long and thin to hold their heads up. A few hours later, the swans' necks became shorter and thicker and they could hold their heads up.
