Jack’s parents are puzzled(困惑的). Every morning their two boys are nice to each other and they never argue(爭(zhēng)吵).
“What’s going on?” asks their mother. “What are you two doing?”
“Nothing, mum” they say, and smile. She doesn't believe them. But what can she do?
One morning, the doorbell rings. It’s Holly. They open the door and go outside. Then they all wait. Falco walks into the sunlight. Jack wants Falco to fly again, but he doesn’t want him to go. Beating his wings, Falco flies up into the air. Nemo watches, too. But he doesn’t jump down.
Facol, the hawk, flies up into the big blue sky. He flies around for a while. Then suddenly he makes that familiar(熟悉的)loud strange cry and flies away over the house.
“It’s a good thing, Jack” says Jim.
“Falco can thank you for his new life,” says Holly.
Jack agrees with them. But he can’t say anything. He stands and looks up at the empty blue sky. Jack is soon free to go out and see his friends again. They sit in the park. They go swimming. They play football. And while they are walking around, Jack sometimes sees Damian and Damian’s group. Damian calls out, and throws something at him, but Jack ignores him. He isn’t interested in Damian. He isn’t important. And all the time Jack is watching and waiting. He is listening for a special sound.
Then one evening, Jack is sitting in his room looking out of the window. Jim is sitting on the bed playing.
It is a cool evening at last. A light wind is blowing. Summer is finally coming to an end. It is a quiet evening, too. Nobody is playing loud music.
Suddenly there is a noise in the back garden. Nemo jumps onto the fence(籬笆),looks up at the sky, and miaows.
"What is he looking at?" thinks Jack.
And then he hears a cry. A strange cry. A familiar cry.

When you are busy with your schoolwork, you might find it tough to get enough sleep. We all know that not getting enough sleep is bad for our health. But it has been found that less sleep could even cause you to have fewer friends, the Guardian reported.
According to researchers from the University of California, people who don't get enough sleep are less willing to socialize(社交) with others. They are simply too tired to go out.
The researchers did a small study. They tested 18 young people who just had a good night’s sleep as well as tested them again after a sleepless night. The participants watched videos of people with neutral (中性的) expressions walking toward them. When the person on the video got too "close" to them, they pushed a button (按鈕) to stop the video, which recorded how close they allowed the person to get.
The results showed that people kept the person at a distance of 60 percent further back if they hadn’t gotten enough sleep. They felt that their personal space was being invaded(侵占). But when the participants got a good night’s sleep, they allowed the person to get much closer to them.
According to lead (領(lǐng)頭)researcher Matthew Walker, the less sleep you get, the less you want to socialize with others. In turn, other people may think you are weird and stay away from you. This can make you feel lonely and cause you to sleep even less. It becomes a vicious cycle(惡性循環(huán)). So if you want to be a more sociable and popular person, sleeping well might help. "One night of good sleep. makes you feel more outgoing and socially confident," Walker told the Daily Mail.
