Dad's Advice
When I finished my school education, I began to find a job. I was very happy because it was time to make my dream come true.
One evening, my father talked to me about what kind of ________I should look for. He wanted me to work for a big company and asked me to take his advice. But I really hoped to be a teacher. It was my dream. I didn't accept his ________. We shouted and didn't talk to each other. Even worse, I found it more and more difficult for us to say sorry as time went by.
A week later, I decided to break the ________ and make the first move. So I dialed (撥打) my father's number and began talking in a low voice, “Dad...I am ________. I shouldn't argue with you that day!”
There was a silence at the other end. After a while, he ________ in a low voice. “Well, that's all right, honey.”
I was surprised, and raised my voice a little, “Dad, I understand why you don't want me to be a teacher, but to be a teacher is my dream job. I hope you can also ________ me.”
From the other end of the line comes my father’s answer, “Sorry, honey. I shouldn’t force you to accept my idea. You have your own dream, I should ________ you.”
On hearing this, I was so ________ that my eyes were full of tears (眼淚). I realized that this special moment had taken our father-and-son relationship to a new level.
A few weeks later, my mother told me that my father had been ill for half a year. He would get an operation (手術(shù)). The operation was successful. My father was saved and ________ escaped (逃離,逃脫) death.
Many times I feel lucky that I ________ the first step to say sorry to my father. I can’t imagine how I can live the rest of my life if my father didn’t have a successful operation.

How to protect children Web fans from unsuitable materials on-line while encouraging them to use the Internet has long been discussed in the U.S.
For some parents, the Internet can seem like a jungle, filled with danger for their children. But jungles contain(包含) wonders as well as danger and with good guides, some education, and a few precautions(預(yù)防措施), the wilds of the Internet can be safely navigated(領(lǐng)航). “Kids have to be on-line. If we tell our kids they can’t have chance to the Internet, we’re cutting them off from their future.” said an expert.
Most kids have started to use search engines. Many of them are great for finding plenty of interesting Internet sites, and they can also find places where you might not want your kids to go. There are some search engines designed just for kids. A certain software contains only sites that have been chosen as safe. The most popular way to limit chance would be to use a “content screener(過濾器)”, but this can’t be wholly depended on, and the best thing parents can do is to talk to their kids and let them know what is OK or not OK to see or do on the Internet. Another way is that mum or dad is nearby when the child is surfing the Internet.
Four other tips:
●Don’t put the PC in a child’s room but keep it in an area where mum or dad can keep an eye on things. That also makes the Internet more of a family activity.
●Ask your child what he or she has been doing and about any friends they make on-line.
●Tell your child not to give on-line strangers personal information, especially like address and phone number.
●And tell your children never to talk to anyone they meet on-line over the phone, send them anything, accept anything from them or agree to meet with them unless you go along.

B. to be nearby when they are surfing the Internet
C. to educate the children and encourage them to tell right from wrong
D. to fix a content screener on the computer
4.Which of the following is right according to the passage?
A. Surfing the Internet is the best method of educating children.
B. Children’s not having chance to the Internet may have an influence on their future.
C. Content screeners can be wholly depended on to make children surf online safely.
D. All searching engines can help children to choose materials fit for them.
