  Many  people think that Abraham Lincoln was one of the greatest presidents in the history of the USA. He passed laws against slavery (奴隸制）and kept the  United States united.

1      His father was a carpenter (木匠）and [farmer. Lincoln often played the piano when he was a  child. And he was so interested in reading that he always borrowed books from his neighbors.

  In 1830,Lincoln moved to Illinois,one of the  states of America. From 1834 to 1840 he was a member [of the Illinois government. 2      At the same time,he I studied to become a lawyer. And he became one in 1836 ). and was very successful.

  From 1846 to 1849,he was a member of the US ：government. He spoke against slavery. From 1849 to I 1860,he made a great many of his famous speeches.  In 1861,Lincoln became the 16th president of the United States. 3      

  In 1865 Lincoln was shot by Wilkes Booth. Booth hated Lincoln because Lincoln had passed laws freeing  the slaves.

      4  He helped end slavery in the United States. He won the Civil War and kept the United States united.

5      He is also famous because he came from a poor family,but through hard work,became President of the United States.
