“The letter should be sent next ‘Mother’s Day’ and not a day earlier!” Lin Xiaofan, a senior high school student in Hefei, instructs one of the companies offering the service.
Lin Xiaofan wrote the letter to her mother in advance to express her love to her mother for next Mother’s Day.
“Offering this service makes people slow down and let them understand the meaning of ‘time’ in another way,” said Zheng Zhimin, manager at a “future mail” company in Hefei. Zheng thinks “future mail” letters are “reminders of care, friendship and love.”
While “future mail” is becoming more and more popular, some people are wondering what will happen if the postal address changes or if the company goes broken before the letters arrive.
Zheng said customers are glad to complete an acceptance form and make an assessment (評估) so they can be compensated (賠償) if their letters or goods are lost or damaged.
Most of the business’ customers are college students and young white-collar workers. Psychologists said young Chinese might have a new way to express their feelings through this service.
“Most people put their hopes and wishes in the letter so they can experience the connection between the past and the present while they receive the letter. It can help people re-understand the meaning of ‘time’ ”, said Wang Kaiyu, a sociologist in Anhui Province.

A language never stands still .It is always changing and developing. These changes are rapid in primitive(原始的) societies, but slow in advanced ones, because the invention of printing and the spread of education have fixed a traditional usage. The only important change that English has undergone(遭受) since the 16th century is a large increase in its vocabulary. It is interesting to trace the different ways in which new words are invented. Let us take just two
English words and see how they were made: sandwich and television.
Sandwich, is now no longer an entirely English word, but also international, comes from the Earl of Sandwich(died in1792),who invented the particular form of quick meal so that he could go on gambling all through the night without stopping for dinner. Many names of things are in facts taken from the name of the first inventors, for example, the electrical terms Walt and Volt.
Television is one of many new scientific words which are invented from old Greek and Latin words.“Tele”in Greek, mean “far , while“vision”comes from the Latin verb, meaning“to see”.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is based on the simplicity and power(力量) of friendship. It is a program which provides friendship and fun by matching vulnerable young people (ages 7-17) with a volunteer adult who can be both a role model and a supportive friend.
Volunteer tutors come from all walks of life—married, single, with or without children. Big Brothers and Big Sisters are not replacement parents or social workers. They are tutors: someone to trust, to have fun with, to talk and go to when needed.
A Big Sister and Little Sister will generally spend between one and four hours together three or four times each month for at least twelve months.
