Do you know what shouzhang is? It is a diary with decorations (裝飾品) like tapes, stickers (貼紙), drawings and other things. It started in Japan. And now it becomes popular in China.

Twin (雙胞胎的) sisters Lin Ting and Mao Yue from Zhejiang become “stars” on the Internet because they make interesting shouzhang. These two 15-year-old girls are from Grade 8, Wenhui Middle School in Hangzhou. They record things about food, travel, pets, school life and other interesting things in their lives in their shouzhang.

The twins started to make their shouzhang about three years ago. “Nothing will be greater than to look back on these beautiful memories when we get old,” Lin said.

They write funny stories about their two pet dogs Dabao and Gege in their shouzhang. When Lin has too much homework to do, she writes about how she feels. “It makes me feel better,” Lin said. They also write about their favourite food and stars. Mao collected pictures of ice cream, coffee and her hero Zhang Yixing, and stuck them in their shouzhang. They always bring their shouzhang with them when travelling.

Both of them love and do well in drawing. They also have a big box of tapes and stickers. So they think it is easy and interesting for them to make their shouzhang beautiful.

Jeanne Johnson lives near the ocean (海洋) in the USA. She is worried about the danger of tsunamis (海嘯), so she bought a tsunami escape pod (逃生艙).

The pod is a bright orange ball. It is not very big, just 1.37 metres across. Two people can fit inside. It has a watertight (不漏水的) door and some windows. The pod can even provide air for the people inside and show where they are.

Julian Sharpe made the pod. He got the idea after a tsunami in 2004 in the Indian Ocean. It killed more than 226,000 people. He was on vacation near the ocean with his family. His kids were very young. Sharpe wondered how he could keep them safe if a tsunami happened. Then in 2011, a tsunami killed about 16,000 people in Japan. This was when Sharpe really started designing and making an escape pod strong enough to protect people from a tsunami.

Jeanne spent $13,500 on the pod. She has put some water, food, warm clothes and a radio in it. And she is practising getting into it quickly.

Small drones(無人機)can help carry packages to your home. For two years, Google has been working hard in their secret research lab. They have made great progress. Their latest project is called Project Wing. Project Wing is Google’s invention of a drone delivery service. It is half plane and half helicopter(直升機)and is slightly bigger than a seagull. It can deliver packages to customers’ doors.

The first drone test was made on a farm in Warwick, Australia. It sent sweets and dog treats to a farmer. The drone flew to the farm, hovered(盤旋), and released the package with a wire. Delivery is here!

The best thing about drone delivery services is that delivery times will be greatly cut down. You’ll be able to order online in the morning. And by noon, the delivery drone will deliver you package.

Throughout history, there have been a series of inventions that have helped people move things around, said Astro Teller, lead scientist of Google Wing, to CNN. Teller thinks Google drones will be the next big step in the series.

Interestingly, drones are not that young. The USA has been using armed(武裝)drones since 2002. But drones may also get another use. Film companies have asked to use drones to shoot videos from the sky.

Google’s delivery drones won’t be able to fly to customers any time soon. However, Google has proved that drone delivery is possible. And with Amazon announcing their drone delivery service last year, the heat is on to make safe and suitable drones to fly the skies for customers.

1.Paragraph 2 of the reading is mainly about ______.

A.what a drone is B.how a drone works

C.how a drone is produced D.how a drone is designed

2.According to the reading, Project Wing ______.

A.flies very high B.releases the package without a wire

C.is not big in size D.flies faster than birds

3.According to the passage, drones have been in use in the following fields except______?

A.military (軍事) B.films C.delivery D.education

4.Which of the following is NOT true about the invention?

A.The new invention can cut down the time of delivery.

B.Astro Teller is the lead scientist of Project Wing.

C.Google drones are the next big step in helping people move things around.

D.Drones will take a long time to deliver a package.
