There are many different kinds of disasters around the world. As an adult you know what to do during a disaster, but what about the children? Some adults think it would probably never happen to them, so they don’t teach their children what to do. Before it’s too late, here are ways to help you prepare your child for a disaster:
Educate: It is always good to let your child know about possible disasters. This doesn’t mean children have to live in fear. When teaching them about disasters, keep the conversation positive(積極的)by telling them there is a solution to the disaster. Keep the conversations short, allow for questions and answer honestly.
Prepare: Always be prepared, that is the best advice for children. For example, when preparing for bad weather, get the tools you need, like candles, radios, food, water and medicine. Teach your child what is needed in certain disasters so that they know what is available for them, if ever needed.
Plan: You should always have a plan for you and your child for any dangerous situation. Write out a simple list that they can read. The plan could start with “l(fā)isten to an adult’s advice and/or call 119”.
Practice: Once you have got the correct safety tools and worked out the right plan, practice every few months. Practicing what to do during a disaster with your child will help them if the time comes.
Disasters can’t be avoided but they can be lessened(減輕)once you are prepared and ready for one.

“Please don't go to Wuhan unless it's really necessary,” Zhong Nanshan, a famous doctor, said to the public when the coronavirus hit Wuhan. But Zhong, 84, rushed on an overnight train to Wuhan to fight the disease.
Many Chinese know Zhong as the hero who defeated SARS in 2003. People share his photos and words online, saying they “trust every word of Zhong”. He has given Chinese people confidence in winning this battle. Zhong grew up in a family of doctors. His goal has always been to save as many lives as possible. In 2003, when SARS hit China, he volunteered to treat patients and asked other doctors to send their most serious cases to him. After months of efforts, his treatment plan for SARS was adopted by China and then the whole world, which saved thousands of lives.
Seventeen years later, Zhong is once again leading an expert team to deal with the coronavirus. This new virus is known to be more dangerous to old people, but Zhong worries little about his own safety.
On January 18, he took a high-speed train from Guangzhou to Wuhan. Two days later, he became the first expert to tell the public that the virus can be spread between humans. On January 29, he and his team spent over four hours online checking five patients who were in serious condition. The next day, he chose a treatment plan for those patients. Under his guidance, his team developed a quick test kit for the disease that can show results within 15 minutes.

There are a lot of interesting things living in the sea. There are many types of fish and many other animals. There are also many types of plants. There are even some animals which have a lot in common with you. They are mammals living in the sea. How much do you know about creatures that live in the sea? Do you want to know more about the food chain(鏈)in the sea?
In the sea, all sea creatures get food from other sea creatures. At the first link of the food chain are the sea plants and plankton (浮游生物). Plants are found only in the sunlight zone where there is enough light for them, however, animals are found at all depths of the oceans though their numbers are greater near the surface where food is enough. Many kinds of fish and animals, such as the snail, shrimp, jellyfish, and sea star eat the plankton. The small animals and fish that eat plankton then become food for larger fish, such as the tuna and mackerel. These fish are then eaten by larger fish and animals, such as the shark and dolphin. The shark and dolphin are at the top of the food chain in the sea. Sharks are very dangerous so many people are eaten by them in the sea. But why the number of the shark is becoming smaller and smaller? And who eats the shark? Check out the menu at a seafood restaurant next time you are eating there. Don't be surprised if you find shark on the menu.

Succulents(多肉植物) are booming in popularity for two simple reasons: they are beautiful and easy to grow. You can plant succulents in containers or in the garden, but either way, take care to make sure your plants are healthy. Here are some general rules.
Get the pots ready. Succulents need pots that will house the plant comfortably. The actual pot size will depend on the size of the plant. You need to repot(移盆) them later. If you keep it in a smaller pot, it will generally stick to that size. You’d best choose clay (陶土) pots. There should be 3 or more holes at the bottom of the pot.
Prepare your soil. Don’t use regular potting soil because it will hold onto too much water that may cause your succulents to rot. A well-drained soil is a must. Succulents tolerate dry conditions and poorer soils.
Give them some light. Succulents prefer bright light; therefore, place the pots in an area where there is plenty of sunlight, direct or indirect. Succulents need at least four hours of direct light each day. Don’t expose your succulents to hot summer sun for too long.
Water your plant. One of the common mistakes made with succulents is overwatering. If you overwater your succulents, they aren’t going to survive. It’s the same with simply spraying them lightly. The best way to water succulents is the “soak and dry” method. Basically, you need to give your succulents enough water so that the soil gets completely wet. Then, let it dry out completely before you water again. Once every couple of weeks is generally enough during the warmer months. Over winter they don’t really need water at all.
Feed your succulents during the plants’ active growing season. Some grow actively in summer while others are winter plants. Stop fertilizing(施肥) when plant growth naturally slows.
