The human brain weighs about 1.4 kilograms, but it can hold much more information than most computers. However, there is another difference between humans and computers. Computers don't forget information they are given, but humans often do. No one remembers everything, and luckily we don't usually have to. But everyone can improve their memory if they want to. Here are some suggestions.
◆Try to use new information immediately. For example, if you meet someone who says “Hi! I'm Carlos,” don't just say “Hello.” Repeat the person's name. Say“__________”.
◆Break a big number into smaller parts. For example, it's hard to memorize (記憶) 109244153. But if you break it into three parts--109/244/153—it becomes easier.
◆Write out what you need to remember over and over again. This will help you keep it in mind longer, especially for memorizing formulas (公式) or facts.
◆Always review information. If you bring what you've learned back to your mind, they become easier to remember. For example, before you go to sleep, it’s a good idea to review the new things you learned that day.
◆Discuss with a friend. It is always easier to remember things through discussions. You can have a discussion about what’s right and what's wrong, and it will lead to the right answer.
Never tell yourself that you have a bad memory. You can always do something to help improve your memory. And everyone's memory gets better if they use it often enough.
All of the suggestions are helpful. If you follow them, you are certain to improve your memory.
【小題1】Which should be put in the blank (空格) in Paragraph 2?

A.Hello, Carlos. B.How do you do?

【小題2】How many suggestions are mentioned in the passage?

Many people go to school for education. School education is very important and useful ,but no one can learn everything from school. A teacher ,no matter how much he knows ,cannot teach his student everything .His work is to show his students how to learn .He teaches them how to read and how to think . So much more is to be learned outside school by students themselves.
It’s always more important to know how to learn by oneself than to learn some facts or formulas (公式)by heart. It’s quite easy to learn some facts in history or a formula in maths, but it’s very difficult to use them. Edison and Einstein didn’t get everything from school, but they were all successful. They invented so many things. The reason for their success is that they knew how to study .They read many books outside school .They worked hard all their lives, wasting not a single moment. The most important thing is that they know how to use their brains(大腦)。
【小題1】__Students can’t learn everything in school because _____________.

A.the teacher doesn’t know much
B.the teacher can only teach them how to read and write
C.the teacher would not like to teach
D.there are still many things for the students to learn outside
【小題2】__A teacher’s work is ________
A.to teach all subjects
B.to teach everything
C.to teach the students how to read and think
D.to work hard
【小題3】__To know how to _____is much more important than facts or formulas by heart.

If we want to deal with the association (交往) between boys and girls properly, here are some “dos and don’ts” for you to follow.
Keep a normal and healthy state of mind. It is very natural for the boys and girls to make friends with each other . We should make as many friends as possible. We should keep in touch with the other sex(性別) in public instead of in secret.
Don’t be too nervous or too shy. If you are a shy person, you can also find a way out. First of all, you can make friends with the students who have the same interest and hobby as you. As both of you have lunch in common , you may have much to talk about. If you keep doing like that, little by little, you will gladly find you can express yourself freely as others.
Don’t fall into the mire of puppy love. The boys and girls at adolescence(青春期) are rich in feelings. They are easy to regard the friendship as a sign of love and fall in love with each other at an early age. In my opinion , puppy love is a green apple that can’t be eaten. An apple won’t taste sweet until it is fully ripe (成熟的). Boys and girls at middle school are too young to carry the heavy duty of love. Do keep out of puppy love.
