【題目】閱讀短文,并按要求完成下列小題。
At many Thanksgiving dinners, everyone around the table shares something they are thankful for. As we know, most can do this easily. It's more important to know how to be thankful people all the time.
Be positive(樂觀). No matter what happens, it's best to remember the good things. Find the bright side in bad situations, and push back against negative(負(fù)面的) opinions. Also, do your best not to compare yourself to others. But when you're around others, give expression to what you like about them. By keeping good in mind, you'll gibe thanks for it even more than before.
Accept the negative. At the same time, we can't pay no attention to bad things that have happened. We should learn from mistakes. It makes us become strong. Before we know it, we're thankful for negative things, too. Our mistakes can also make us humble(謙遜的), which is not all bad. Humble people have better relationships and see life's blessings(祝福) much more clearly!
Acts of kindness. Thankful people know that it's muh better to gibe than to receive. When you're thankful, you feel it's your duty to show love to others. Some people volunteer to help people in need. Studies show that volunteers might feel happier and healthier.
Use of time. By spending time with others, you show them how much they mean to you. But being thankful is also better realized by spending time alone. When you're alone, you can think about the best parts of you day. You can list them out and think th em over. You can find your way to make thanksgiing a part of you life. How wonderful it is! Life is full of surprises and you never know how things will turn out. Sir John Gurdon. Is a good example of this. As a boy, he was told he was hopeless at science and finished bottom of his class. Now, aged 79, the very same Gurdon shared the 2012 Nobel Prize in Medicine with Japanese stem cell (干細(xì)胞) researcher Shinya Yamanaka.
Like so many scientists, Gurdon shows us where the power of curiosity and perseverance (堅持) can lead.
At the age of 15 in 1948, Gurdon ranked last out of the 250 boys at his high school in biology and every other science subject. Gurdon's high school science teacher even said that his dream of becoming a scientist was quite "ridiculous".
In spite of his teacher's criticisms, Gurdon followed his curiosity and kept working hard. He went to the laboratory earlier and left later than anyone else. He experienced thousands of failures.
"I believe that we will, in the end, understand everything about how cells actually work." Gurdon said.
In 1962, Gurdon took a sell from an adult frog and moved its genetic (基因的) information i nto an egg cell. The egg cell then grown into a clone of the adult frog. This technique later helped to create Dolly the sheep in 1996, the first cloned mammal in the world.
In 2006, Gurdon's work was developed by Yamanaka to show that a sample (樣本) of a person's skin can be used to create stem cells. Using the technique, doctors can repair a patient's heart after a heart attack.
