The more books you read, the better your life will be. If you don’t believe me, please consider the following reasons to read more books.

You will have strong brain power .Studies suggest reading makes you smart. Unlike watching television, which requires no thought process(過程), reading is an active learning experience that will keep your mind sharp (even in old age).
You will travel to a new world . Sometimes our daily life can start to get boring . At times like this, I like to dive into a good fiction book, where I can forget about whatever problems are stressing me out. I’ll come back refreshed after my mini-vacation to a fresh and exciting place in the world of words.
You will improve your vocabulary . The more words you’re able to use, the better you will become at expressing your thoughts and feelings. I couldn’t imagine how I would write articles like this if I didn’t actively aim to improve my vocabulary, because using the same few words to express myself would get awfully boring in a hurry.
You will entertain yourself at a low price .If you’re looking for entertainment without much money, reading is your best choice. Thanks to the popularity of electronic reading devices(設(shè)備), it’s never been easier to entertain yourself for hours at a time, for the low cost of a few dollars.
You will discover surprising new ideas. Reading introduced me to concepts (概念)like mindful eating, relaxation exercises, and the importance of loving yourself. If I didn’t read, I wouldn’t realize these ideas. If you don’t read, you will miss many surprising new ideas.
You will become an expert(專家) in your field . Don’t you think reading articles and books by experts in your field might make you better at what you do? If you don’t learn more about your profession, then your lack of passion could be a sign that you’re in the wrong field.
I firmly believe that reading has changed my life . I hope these reasons can encourage you to read more books.

Do you think that living a hungry life is last century’s story? Well, it may be this century’s headline.
The world has growing worries about a global food shortage. Right now, there are still 870 million hungry people in the world, according to a survey of the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization. Children can’t escape this, either. Around fifteen million children die of hungry each year.
What’s causing food shortages? There are several reasons.
There are now more droughts and floods. This is very harmful to farmers and their ability to grow food.
Besides, with the growing population, feeding everyone becomes more difficult. There are a little more than seven billion people in the world. By 2050, the world population will be more than nine billion.
Another reason is food waste. The average person throws away 50kg of food every year.
How can we help with food shortages? The easiest way is to cut down on food waste.
Next time before throwing away the food on your plate, just think how much work has been done to make it. By buying less, we waste less. This takes the pressure off producing so much food. And it helps to solve the problem of food shortage.
You can also ask your schoolmates to join you.
In 2013, researchers at Kansas State University in the US put up short anti-waste slogans(標(biāo)語) in dining rooms “Think Before You Waste”. Guess what happened? Students wasted fifteen percent less food after that!
The author of the study said, “You don’t need a huge activity to make a difference.”

A girl went to her father to ask for his suggestion. She was having a        time in life, and it seemed that as soon as one problem disappeared another one         in its place.
Her father, a chef, took her into the kichen. He poured water into three pans and put them on to boil. After the water boiled, he put some carrots into the first pan, some         into the second pan and coffee into the last one. He waited without saying a word.
After 20 minutes, her father turned         the stove(爐子), took out the carrots and the eggs and put them in a bowl. He poured the coffee into a cup.

But today they were so bored. “At least we would have something to do.” Tom thought for a while and suggested, “Let’s make some popcorn and lemonade and sell it outside.”
