Can plants eat people? Probably not, but there are many plants that eat meat. Some of them are big. And thay can eat small animals. One famous meat-eating plant is Venus Flytrap(捕蠅草).
Venus flytrap is a very strange plant. It grows in dry parts of the United States. Its leaves are like the pages of a book. They can open and close very quickly. Inside the leaves, there are three small hairs. If a fly touches one of the hairs, the leaf closes quickly, so the fly cannot get out. In about half an hour, the leaf presses the fly until it is dead. Then, the plant covers the fly and slowly eats it.
Why do plants do that? Most plants get what they need from the sun, the air, and the ground. In some places, the ground is very poor. It doesn't have all these important things, especially nitrogen (氮). Animal meat has a lot of nitrogen, so some plants eat meat to get what they need. Most of us spend all day at school or work. After a long and busy day, all we want to do is to return to a comfortable home. Smart technology can turn any home into a nicer place to live in.
Smart homes have been around for some time. Scottish company Pico Electronics invented a type of technology called X10 in 1975. It allows household devices(設(shè)備), such as lights and alarms, to communicate with each other by using radio waves, according to AVSytemsMag, a specialized magazine in the audiovisual and automation(視聽及自動(dòng)化)industry.
Of course, 5G network connectivity has made smart homes more convenient. Perhaps the most widespread smart home technology is the voice-activated assistant(語音激活助手)Google Home and Amazon's Alexa allow users to control nearly any device in their home simply by speaking a few words. This is especially convenient for people with physical disabilities, as they can finish tasks that would normally be too difficult, according to How-To Geek.
Common household appliances(家用電器)can become "smart" as well. For example, a smart trash bin can memorize all the things you've thrown away and offer you a shopping list online, while a smart fridge can create dinner recipes(菜譜)based on the vegetables that are being kept inside, according to HowStuffWorks.
But it's not just about convenience. Smart homes are also good for the environment. By regularly checking your energy use and automatically turning off lights and other devices that you're not using, smart homes can lower how much electricity you use overall. Using less energy means that we make less pollution, which is good for the environment.
Not everyone is excited about smart home. In fact, …

It's common to play video games as a way to reduce stress. We play games for fun, relaxation and even to kill time. However, one student has found a much more creative way to use video games.
Wu Hele, 17, a Senior 3 student from Jinling High School, Nanjing, has been preparing a gift for his high school - a recreation(重建) of his own school in the game Minecraft《我的世界》.
It is a game that allows players to design landscapes and buildings in all different types of locations with different materials.
For Wu, recreating the school was not just a sudden idea. During Wu's first time visiting the school, he found that it was perfect for rebuilding. "The landscape of the school is regular, and buildings all had a symmetrical, aesthetic feeling, which is suitable for rebuilding with Minecraft," he told Modern Express《現(xiàn)代快報(bào)》.
After his first visit to the school, Wu decided to rebuild it. However, this was not an action that could be done in a day. During his three years in high school, Wu has effectively organized his time. After finishing his homework or exercises, he always walked around the school with a notebook. "I measured all the corners by eyeballing(目測) or counting footsteps. I also drew sketches(草圖). When I played the game, I would build the school based on my sketches," he told the Bejing Evening News《北京晚報(bào)》.
Wu experienced several challenges as he recreated every detail of the school. One of the most difficult challenges was building the gym. At first, he didn't know how to rebuild the shape. Then, Wu learned the conic curve formula(圓錐曲線公式), which was used for the building.
His hard work has paid off. Almost all of the scenes of Jinling High School have been rebuilt in the game. The gate, the teaching buildings, the unique corridor with the wisteria(紫藤長廊)- every tree and flower has been exactly rebuilt. The player can visit the classrooms, gyms and office buildings and view the detailed decorations inside. In addition, their school's pet cat can be seen running downstairs in the teaching building just like in real life.
"I'm the first one who rebuilt our school in this way. I've cherished(珍惜) the three years I've spent here, and I have learned a lot during the whole process," Wu told Nanjing Daily《南京日?qǐng)?bào)》.
